Nintendo Teams Up With Universal Theme Parks To Create Nintendo Attractions

Your favourite characters and worlds will be brought to life in Nintendo themed attractions at Universal theme parks! Today, Nintendo announced they’re bringing their much loved games to Universal theme parks for you to experience for real. Universal will create “spectacular, dedicated experiences based on Nintendo’s wildly popular games, characters and worlds.” They still have to work everything out as the “teams work to create specific concepts,” but more will be announced sometime in the future. Which Nintendo attraction would you most like to see at a theme park?

“The immersive experiences will include major attractions at Universal’s theme parks and will feature Nintendo’s most famous characters and games.”

      1. If they do splatoon, it better be paint and not paint balls. They would injure people. Paint Splatting out would be safer but they will Definitely have loads of arcade machines. Would be stupid not to!

          1. I had an idea for a class-project in my business class and part of the idea was to make a Mario Kart — Go Kart attraction. (Mario Kart Go)??
Your kart would have a small screen in it like how cars have GPS’s, only the kart screen shows things like your item, speed, place/map, hit animations etc.
To replicate items, you would need to drive over certain SENSOR plates on the ground. So if you pass an item box plate/strip with your Kart that’s equipped with special sensor technology, it will sense it and the Kart will activate a random item! Bananas, red shells, stars, blue shells, lightning, boo (maybe), and boost items are the types of items you can get! If you get a banana, the plates with in your Kart can be dispensed by pushing an alternate pedal or you can save it/protect your self by doing nothing.
If you or an opponent is hit or happens to run over a banana plate, they will immediately slow down, along with a funny sound/animation! (Same with hits by red shells, blue shells, and lightning strikes.) As for Boosts and stars… Those are pretty much obvious concepts.

That’s my idea! It’s pretty easy to implement and wont cost much to put a bunch of sensors on the ground xD. An alternate idea would be-to wear VR head sets… but those are way too expensive, unsafer than helmets, and would give a less physical experience. So I think my idea is the best solution and experience for a theme park!

      2. That would be amazing, both of them! Luigi’s Haunted Mansion could either be a simulator or a game like laser tag, where you tag the ghosts. Splatoon could be real paint, not paintballs. Oh man, I’d have to pay money to go to that!

        1. Although now that I think about it, the obstacle course coming to the Mess Fest will probably just be put in the theme park.

They never do anything cool like that. It’ll probably be like 5 attractions. 2-3 of them will be roller coasters that are just theme-fitted to the design of the coaster. I’m better and Mario and Luigi dual coaster where one is green and the other is red, A bowser CRAZY coaster that is tall, has large drops and is painted red and has Bowser themed elements, and then probably a Zelda themed coaster that soars high above the ground and has some upside-down twists and stuff.

The other rids will be like a Peach themed ride that takes you through a make-shift castle and or an indoor Metroid ride that shows like a movie section and the seats you are in bounce up and down and it has special effects and stuff to make it feel like you are “in space” being attacked by metroids and you and Samus have to work together to defeat them and Mother Brain.

    1. Let’s see some of the attractions on there happen too. Even Luigi’s Mansion! It’s be kinda cool if they went to Baby Park for inspiration.

  2. Universal? Wow, they’ve finally put aside their differences over the whole Donkey Kong / King Kong thing. Good for them!

  3. I long for the day when Disney buys Nintendo and owns the company outright.

Only then will we see their gaming utilized to its potential, then we will see theme park attractions, better utilized in terms of toys and merchandise, plus we would see things like a good CGI Animated Mario movie or a high budget, live action Legend of Zelda movie. Just overall using the brand and the characters right

      1. How do I not know what I’m talking about? Are you telling me Nintendo utilizes their characters and brand to its full potential in all aspects of their business?

    1. Yeah, no–if that happened, that would ruin what Nintendo is all about: making amazing games. You don’t don’t want the core product of Nintendo to be replaced with toys and roller coasters, trust me.

      1. Why would Disney ruin the brand if they bought it? Why can’t it be like a Pixar or Marvel acquisition where the studios still operate like they did before but just under the Disney umbrella?

Disney knows more than anyone the strengths and monetary value of the companies they buy. Can’t argue that. Companies like Marvel and Pixar have done unprecedented business since Disney bought them. LucasArts will be the same way.

Disney would utilize Nintendo right and at the same time have the money to back Nintendo projects and expand.

        1. Yeah you’re right, why not let the antismite company that historically racist take over the big N. No, Disnet wouldn’t pimp their IPS like a butterfly. You’registered right, how could we be all so blind!?
Ps marvel comics isn’t doing as well as you think, they seem to want to kill off a number of characters lately. And they will run star wars till it can’t run no more. Till the point of over saturation.

          1. How is Marvel not doing well? They are essentially printing money. The Avengers 1 did 1.5 billion dollars and the second one is well on pace to surpass 1 billion in the theaters. Not to mention the success of the iron man, Thor franchises. They also are doing huge business on merchandising too.

            Your claim is not valid.

          2. Nintendo Commander Mar-Vell

            “Marvel isn’t doing well”

            Hahahahahahhahahahahahahahhaahabbabahabhahahahahaha!

Ignorant fool knows nothing. Take this phucking fool out of my sight.

    2. For a guy named Nintendude, you sure seem to want the company to suffer, which submitting to Disney would only cause.

    1. Oh please yes! And put MK8 Big Blue music on your Ipod or Iphone or w/e and listen to the song as you careen through!

  4. OMG!!!! YESSSSS!!!!!! Now my wallet will probably die because of all the attractions and the Nintendo merchandise they will have…

  5. Very awesome for people who live close by, or love to travel. I myself will never get to see it. I’ve never been to Universal Studios, and I never will. Only reason I’ve ever been to Disneyland and Knotts Berry Farm is because I used to live in California. Now I’m hundreds of miles away from ALL of them.

  6. SO many ideas for what is to come.
I know that it won’t happen but, I would simply DIE if a life sized tourable Hyrule Castle was made. Just a full on castle with lovely décor and theming. Or at least the important parts of a/the castle.

    1. Lol. if they did that, let the Disney Castle burn :D I would go and do some cosplay as Link or somethin. Ooh, how jealous my friends would be! Let it happen Nintendo!

    1. All your comments have got me really thinking just how awesome a Nintendo theme park could be! I’d love to see a Hyrule Castle instead of Cinderella Castle. One day…

  7. A Mysterious Murasame Castle attraction that gives you a tour of an ancient castle with animatronic ninjas would be nice.

Oh wait, that game isn’t relevant enough to warrant being in a theme park. :(

  8. A Metroid shooter ride to aid Samus on her quest to stop Ridely. I can see it now.

*grimaces* an exclusive amiibo solely found in Universal Studios tho…

  9. About a Starfox Spaceship attraction complete with characters from the game giving you guidance via monitor inside of your ship. That would be awesome

Just when I mention they should team up with Disney…. they team up with Universal.

Too bad… Disney is a MUCH better theme park than Universal.

Also, this just goes to show that EVERYONE on that last article who hated on the idea of Nintendo teaming with Disney can suck it. “Nintendo likes to keep their properties to themselves” you said. “Nintendo would never team up with Disney (or anyone for that matter)” you said.- A day later, they team with Universal.

It’s not Disney, but it’s going to help drive revenue for Nintendo that they wouldn’t normally get and that is what Nintendo can profit from the most. Branching out to theme parks and whatnot. Next up, Nintendo will probably team up with Universal to bring Nintendo-themed films to theaters.

It’s going to happen sooner or later.

    1. Disney has a better environment and atmosphere and lots of people’s childhood but universal DEFINITELY has better rides. I love the mountain rides at Disney but they can’t compete with the hulk and such.

    2. Back in 1998 Six Flags Mexico had an official Mario Museum attraction. It wasn’t that much of a ride per se, but I had the chance to attend and it was great. It wasn’t even Universal. It was SIX FLAGS. So yeah, perhaps throwing around highly unbiased oponions without even seeing a single attraction is wrong. Let Nintendo surprise us (be it good or bad), and the feedback might make it better.

  11. They could make a gigantic princess peach castle like as big as the castles they do at disneyland, and they should have an area based on the theme park in mario sunshine.

  12. thenintendoreviewer

Oh damn! I didn’t expect this to actually happen. Not quite the same as Nintendo having their own dedicated theme park but this is still awesome. Perhaps (hopefully) they’ll at least make a whole Nintendo section similar to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. There’s a lot they can do with Nintendo attractions so that would be best.

  13. Nintendo Tetrarch Quadramus-NX

    >>>Outstanding, now we will see how many of the infidelic nonsense lifeforms like the Xbots and Electrons will be first in line to our sacred grounds that they so much hate>>>

    >>>Master N guide us, Master N lead us, in your grand design we shall destroy the irrelevant nonsense once and for all>>>

  14. I love 2.5-3 hours away from Disney and universal and I haven’t been to either in years. Found my reason to get up there even though I’ve been wanting to, now I’ll definitely be going.

  15. Okay, this made my day.

I think some of the no-brainer attractions are a real-life Mario Kart race (or at least using MK-inspired karts), an Arwing roller coaster, and a Spirit Train that goes around the whole Nintendo section. Maybe a small Animal-Crossing-esque village.

    Other ideas, anyone?

    1. Space Pirate Initiate

Splatoon paint ball, having Donkey Kong barrels scattered throughout the area with one having the elusive gorilla or any member of the Kong family in it(Can only be done once a day though and the reward depends on the Kong you find), Luigi’s Mansion haunted house, interactive Metroid ride, animatronic pokemon zoo. Mario Party inspired games of chances for prizes.

  16. Xenoblade Chronicles one please? That takes place in Gaur Plain and you have an anamatropic characters and monsters? *Imagines a real life sized Territorial Rotbart*

    1. I highly doubt they will make a Xenoblade attraction. Not enough recognition outside of gamers. Most likely Mario Bros., Donkey Kong, Legend of Zelda, and a few others.

      1. Ridley, the Angel of Death

Maybe some day we can have one of Xenoblade if Nintendo lets Monolith Soft turn it into a long running franchise.

  17. Wow…seeing Nintendo pairing up with Universal is weird after the whole donkey Kong issue back in the 80s XD

    1. Ridley, the Angel of Death

Seriously! I’d gladly travel to the state above mine just to go there once every few months. But it’s never happening with it being only in New York City.

      1. Ridley, the Angel of Death

In other words, I’d be happy with more Nintendo World Stores that are only in every other state. Every state around New York doesn’t need a Nintendo World Store since people in those states don’t have to pay too much to go to a neighboring state.
