Microsoft has always been under pressure to pull something spectacular out of the bag to combat the launch of the Sony Playstation 3 and the Nintendo Wii.
It was originally thought that the next Master Chief outing in Halo 3 would be fittingly pitted against such hardware launches, but as we know, the highly anticipated title won’t be doing the rounds so to speak until spring 2007. The next big title in Microsoft’s golden arsenal is the Unreal Engine based Gears of War, which appears to be the perfect choice to win over potential Xbox 360 buyers and the systems owners.
Whether or not this move will be seen as enough of a deterrent to stop consumers from purchasing either the Wii or the Playstation 3, certainly still remains to be seen.
This certainly could knock a few 360s off the shelves.. :?
But it could also encourage Wii60. :)
Well it will certainly help shift some Xbox 360s.
Though I’m doubtful the game will sway any prospective Playstation 3 owners.
Gears Of War is one of the many reasons that I’ll be buying a 360 later this year. Here’s hoping it doesn’t disappoint.
