Rumour: EGM Nintendo Wii Launch Reviews Leak?

egm.jpg

Rumours are circulating that popular American gaming magazine Electronic Gaming Monthly has had its forthcoming review scores for three widely anticipated Wii launch titles leaked onto the Internet.

The rumours have stemmed via gaming forum Neogaf, in which the following titles: Zelda Twilight Princess (9.5,9.5,10), Red Steel (8,8,5) , and Excitetruck (7,7,7.5) are said to have received the indicated review scores.

Whether this is true or just an Internet hoax remains to be seen, but with the Wii launch fast approaching it’s only a matter of time before gaming publications receive the final code to enable them to write their definitive verdicts on the all important Wii software.

  1. The Mysterious Shadow

Am I the only one who fails to understand the scores? Is Red Steel’s score 8 or 5? Or does more than one reviewer look at each game?
And incidentally, is it that great if they did give the games those scores? Wow, we know what EGM think… Er… great. I think not you crazy internet people.

  2. Well the scores seem plausible although I wonder what that ‘5’ for red steel means… but Zelda’s almost perfect score is no surprise! =-)

  3. Aha, with regards to the scores it appears as if the magazine chooses three reviewers verdicts for the game.
Therefore in the case of Red Steel one reviewer gave it a decent 8/10, the second reviewer gave it 8/10 and the third reviewer gave it a disappointing 5/10.
I’m extremely pleased with the score for Zelda if it is indeed correct, although to be honest I didn’t expect anything less :)

Even if it was shit, do you think anyone would actualy dare bash a Zelda game? I think not.

And if someone did, they would get hell from the entire gaming community for and indefinite amount of time!

Hey sickr, I don’t get the picture next to your nickname on top of the webpage. Is that like some giant robot (transformer style)?

Nowadays due to the influx of Internet usage, magazine publications are dying a rather abrupt death. Therefore it wouldn’t surprise me if a gaming publication decided to give the forthcoming Twilight Princess a lower review score than expected, which in turn would help it receive inundated publicity amongst the gaming community.

Ha, with regards to your other question you’re correct it is a huge transformer style robot. Unfortunately it has absolutely nothing to do with Nintendo, but I thought it was rather cool so there you go :)

Anyhow thanks for your input as always.

  7. I actually talked with Jay Frechette today and he did say that EGM is reviewing Wii games, but it’s not confirmed whether any of the reviews made it to the Halo 3 issue.

I’m sure I cleared up everything for you now…

  8. Fake across the board. Jeremy Parish, who’s reviewing Twilight Princess for EGM, hasn’t even started playing the game yet.
