Nintendo DS: Pokémon Black & White Is Region Locked For Nintendo DSi

Popular online retailer PlayAsia has informed prospective customers that the highly anticipated Pokemon Black & White is actually region locked on the Nintendo DSi and the Nintendo DSi XL

“We got the first units of Pokemon Black / White in and confirmed, that the games are indeed region-locked on Nintendo DSi and Nintendo DSi XL consoles.

Please understand that we are not able to accept returns due to region lock issues. We are sending you this email to keep you informed and to ask you to make a decision based on this information.

First off, if you have a Nintendo DS or DS Lite Console from any region then there is no problem.

However, if you have a Non-Japanese DSi / DSi XL console then the title doesn’t not work at all on your console. The console simply will say: ‘no game cartridge’.”

  1. WHAT???what is Nintendo purpose with this? Because really…it can`t be profit…I mean, there are ppl who actually buy the japanese version and then the english version…so why are they doing this???

  2. D: omg thats messed up, im soooo happy i have a ds lite. but why the heck would it be region locked? how does that even make sense? my brother is going to get freakin pissed when he sees this

  3. Well that’s fine with me. It’s not like a DS or DS Lite would automatically translate the japanese or anything. The only people who this would upset are the people who want the japanese version, but since I can’t speak japanese I don’t care, I would’ve waited for the North American version anyways.

Or am I not understanding this whole region lock thing?

  6. Guess this means I’ll be getting an extra copy of one of the versions in English, and these will be the last ones I import…

If I was a more rational person, that is.
