Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime has revealed just how many Nintendo Wii and Nintendo DS consoles have been sold in the United States alone in comparison to other consoles.
- Wii – 30.4 million
- DS – 43.1 million
- Xbox 360 – 21.9 million
- PlayStation 3 – 13.5 million
- PSP – 17.7 Million
I thought the xbox would have the first place on sales…
No, the wii has had the lead over the home consoles since 2007. The DS has always had the lead since it’s release in 2004

Not trying to be a dick here people but come on.. over 25 million xbox gold members spend over 1 billion hours on Live every month. Over 60% of Black Ops sales were on xbox. it’s no secret where the gamers are anymore.

I knew it! I knew Nintendo would standout against all other consoles. But to tell the truth , I thought that the Xbox 360 would beat all of them. So many people love playing online, and 360 games are the most talked-about, so that’s what led me to that theory.

I agree wii has creativenss, but wii also has a ton of bland games made by generic producers that almost never sell.
So does the xbox. What is funny is the xbox has had way more still borns. Sure the wii has a lot of shovelware yet the different is it’s easy to spot. The xbox shovelware is hyped and the hd fans eat it up then try and trade it in.
What’s even sadder is most of this games have had huge short comings let along the hassle of this system dieing like ps2. Then paying to use my own Internet connection.
I have about 21 and counting wii games with no shovelware. That I still play not counting the vc games I missed.
So you can have your stereo types because ms and Sony are fight for our shovelware rather than the gems on the wii.
I don’t think Reggie doing this, is a coincidence – the xbox 360 are selling more the last couple of months and it´s alot of talk about Kinect and Move, and not that much talk about Nintendo-products. A recent study showed that very few people in Japan knew about the 3DS. And I think Nintendo want to keep it that way over the holidays. They earn more money by selling older (and therefore cheaper) hardware.
This is a way for Nintendo to keep the consumers that are thinking of buying a Wii and the stockmarket, happy. That’s why they didn’t present a “Wii2” at E3, because they don’t want the other companies to have the opportunity to change there course and rip off Nintendos next innovation, instead Nintendo let them put there Kinect and Move to the market.
Now, probably in the momentum that 3DS will give they will launch there successor to the Wii.
The reason why 360 sales are so high is because they always break and owners buy new ones or newer versions of them. The Wii’s innards have stayed the same since 2006
the one thing i hate about gamers is when they say xbox is the only console which has decent games for adults (not as in xxx) i mean the wii has madworld, many resident evil games(far more than any other console), house of the dead overkill, manhunt 2, mortal kombat and there are loads more too its just silly kids who have a absolutest veiw of what gaming is who actually say these things

The wii and DS both suck. The greatest thing they could add to the DS was a camera. Then They just made it bigger. Now its in 3D. Big deal. The Wiis motion sensors are crap so they made the controller bigger. The best controller you can buy for the wii isn’t even made by nintendo. Also I dont understand how anybody could want the Xbox 360 over the ps3. Do you think its better because they charge you for xbox live or are you just some halo fan that will spend hundreds of dollars every year for online playing?
