Last month Nintendo stressed that children under six should turn off the 3D effects on the Nintendo 3DS as they could potentially damage children’s developing eyesight.
Now the American Optometric Association believes that there is ‘no evidence’ to suggest that viewing 3D images in moderation would have any sort of long term negative effect in either children or adults.

I’m tired of reading MyNintendoNews articles that are about the 3DS’s eye-safety -_-
Unfortunately news is slow at this time of year as you would expect. However we have the 3DS press events coming up so there’s definitely going to be some exciting stuff over the next few weeks : )
No doubt the biggest thing of 2011. Can’t wait to hear all about it =D
Interesting, I think Nintendo said that so they don’t have any legal troubles, since few people like to sue.
They pretty much win all their law suits anyway.
You have no source. Where did you get this from?
This is roughly what I was getting at when the media made a huge deal out of “3D being bad for minors.” It’ll have some adverse effects on some people, but certainly not all. The American Optometric Association is saying there’s no problem with watching things in 3D if you’re a fully normal and functional human being. It makes sense.
It’s the exact same with the epileptic seizure warnings before starting up a video game. Anybody can suffer from epileptic seizures if the flashing is intense enough, but in the end, the warnings only pertain to a select few. Game developers aren’t TRYING to make us seize out; normal people are fine.
This is all to avoid possible lawsuits… because that’s how America works. Sue the crap out of anything that moves.
Yeah as most of the earthbound community have learnt nintendo is very paranoid concerning lawsuits. It doesn’t matter if you win or lose, going to court representing a company of nintendos magnitude costs money they arent willing to lose.
Well that’s a disappointment .
