Japanese gaming bible Famitsu has reviewed the majority of the Japanese Nintendo 3DS launch titles with Nintendogs + Cats receiving the highest score of the bunch.
- Nintendogs Cats: 38/40
- Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition: 34/40
- Samurai Warriors Chronicles: 34/40
- Winning Eleven 3D Soccer: 32/40
- Puzzle Bobble 3D: 24/40
- Ridge Racer 3D: 32/40
- Combat of Giants Dinosaur 3D: 23/40
- Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask: 32/40
- Shanghai 3D Cube: 26/40
- Super Monkey Ball 3D: 32/40

Can we really trust the Samurai Warriors Chronicles: 34/40 score? Never really seen good reviews for other versions of this game….unless they got it right this time round. Hopefully this is the case cause it looks good in videos.
Its kind of confusing the rating system they use, im not sure if its good or great,it looks like Nintendogs got like 9.5 and SSFIV got like 8.5 along with Samurai Warriot Cronicals and Super Monkey Ball got 8. I would like to compare it to the score of familiar games to know how good that is though! Right now it seems like greats scores to me!
Where’s Steel Diver and Pilot Wings?
Eh. To me, review scores don’t equal much. If you love bust a move, you love bust a move. Most of the games I enjoy seldom see high scores, but to me they’re more than worth their retail. If steel diver sounds intriguing to you, than you more than likely will enjoy it. Famitsu is respected, but if they or any other mag/site poo-poo a game, does it really matter to anyone?
The scores usually matters to the average consumer/non-gamer. To the rest of us with gaming knowledge, it’s just a review of how the game plays. Famitsu doesn’t tend to be biased, so it’s good if you want to know the general overview of a video game. How you view the gaming scores is up to each individual person.
It should be noted for those unfamiliar with Famitsu that barely over a dozen games (fifteen to be exact) have ever been given a perfect score of 40. The first one being Ocarina of Time in 1998. They’ve also been reviewing games for two decades. 15 perfect scores in 20 years is astounding.
If I remember correctly, Famitsu gave Pokemon Black and White a perfect 40/40, was it the last time Famitsu gave a perfect score?
I’d hang my hat on the Combat of Giants score…that game has always screamed “poverty DS title” to me.
