Nintendo 3DS: Nintendo Recommends 30 Minute Breaks With the Nintendo 3DS

Nintendo is advising consumers to take a break every thirty minutes whilst playing the Nintendo 3DS in an effort to avoid players from getting motion sickness whilst playing the device in 3D.

Japanese newspaper Nikkei has stated that some developers have actually been told by Nintendo to introduce “game break messages” into their games to inform 3DS users that it’s time to take a break from whatever title it is they’re playing.

  1. “Japanese newspaper Nikkei has stated that some developers have actually been told by Nintendo to introduce “game break messages” into their games to inform 3DS users that it’s time to take a break from whatever title it is they’re playing.”

    The hell with that.

  2. Why not turn the 3D off? Remember the fat, purple luma in SMG2 that told you to take a break every so often? I can tell you that I never once followed his advice.

  3. This is why the battery life is short, so people don’t ruin their eyes if they get too addicted. I will probably take some breaks with my 3DS because I got other things to do. :D

  4. Oh yeah, sure, and I’m supposed to play my high def. games on the smallest screen possible in the most well lit room. But seriously, it says take 30 minute breaks, but after how long of playing?

  5. Does that mean turn off 3D for 30 minutes, or what? Regardless, I probably won’t be using 3D all the time anyway.

  6. if we can sit 2+ hours through a 3D movie, i think we can sit for that same amount of time in front of a 3DS, am i right? or am i right? right? right? right? (sorry been watching alot of Groundhog Day lately)

  7. I don’t think many people listened when Lubba from Mario Galaxy 2 suggested it, either.

  8. Nintendo are probably just covering their tracks on this one, like when they made that announcement about turning the 3D off for children.

  9. The article’s headline is very misleading.

It says ‘Nintendo recommends 30 minute breaks’, but what it should say, is ‘Nintendo recommends breaks every 30 minutes.’

I swear… I love the news you guys give, but sometimes it feels like I’m trying to interpret a drawing from a four year old.

  10. Oh! I hope the 3DS comes with a 3D warning graphic like the beginning of Wii games about strap safety. Maybe a guy balled up on the ground holding his eyes and the 3DS next to him.
