Nintendo 3DS: Nintendo 3DS Sales Drop To Bandai WonderSwan Levels In Japan

Despite the insatiable fever surrounding the Nintendo 3DS during the Japanese launch recent sales figures indicate that the Nintendo 3DS is doing as well as the Bandai WonderSwan.

It would appear that Japanese consumers are holding back purchasing the console until Nintendo release some high profile titles for the system. Thankfully they have Ocarina of Time 3D, StarFox 64 3D and Kid Icarus: Uprising coming in the summer which should hopefully boost sales figures.

    1. I love mine too, its great, the camera is cool i love the AR cards, and the music player is pretty decent, i love the games i have too!, now when ocarina comes out, i may not leave my room for a looong time, lol

      1. Ya,I love my games too. I have 7. Oh,i’m new to this site I’m Benjamin. The games are pilot’s wings resort, legend of zelda ocarina of time, star fox 64, mario cart 7, skylanders, super mario 3d land, and ridge racer. That’s it.

  1. i’m really tired of reading these. there’s a simple answer to this in japan.

first, they had a major disaster, no one has money to buy a damn 3DS

second, there really are no good games availabe for it right now.

third, its a little expensive. lower the price to the DSi XL and discontiue the DSi XL.

fourth, its nintendo. honestly they will get out of this.

finally, what the hell is a wonderswan?

  2. Why does everyone keep saying that this is a horrible thing? Wait until Zelda, or Mario, or something people want to buy!

  3. I love my 3DS but I don’t blame them for waiting. However, they better get one soon, before the real games get here!

  4. I haven’t touched my 3DS in a few weeks. I don’t see myself touching it again until Ocarina of Time comes out. Nintendo had a very poor marketing strategy with the 3DS, and an even worse launch lineup. That is why sales are down. But as soon as a few big titles come out, more people will own the system. More systems sold = more games. It’s as simple as that.

  5. People are saying about the games….yet Zelda is getting a very small limited release in Japan (as reported earlier)

One Piece is out soon in Japan. And over there that is like….air

  6. The system itself is great, but what’s lacking is quality games. I bought three games at 3DS release and now that I’ve finished them, there’s nothing to do since the replay value of those games is practically zero. I hope that the May update will give me something to do with my 3DS, I’m especially looking forward to the 3D Classics.

When Super Mario 3DS, Mario Kart 3DS, Zelda: OOT 3D, Kid Icarus: Uprising and other high-profile games will be released (this year), I wouldn’t be so worried about 3DS sales if I were you :)

  7. yeah im just gonna wait for a price drop i didnt wait for a price drop for the wii and bought it i dont regret it but i wish i could have got a a few games with it :D

  8. Like someboday said, Japan is going through so much that thinking on videogames is not an option right now.

  9. I agree, wait until a Mario or Zelda game comes out, THEN sales will skyrocket. Plus I heard they’re in the planning process of a Super Smash Bros. game for the 3DS, so there’s that.

  10. I’m getting my 3DS next week!!! I’m so excited!!!

I won’t be getting any games tho {atleast someone wants to give me one as a birthday(wich is next week teehee) present} until Ocarina of Time comes out…

  11. Right now, I’m waiting for the internet browser (which honestly should’ve came with the thing at launch) and eShop. I’m hoping for some Megaman.EXE or something good…like just..classic Pokemon. Doesn’t even have to be 3D–could care less about that.
