I’ve received numerous emails and Tweets asking whether the Nintendo 3DS web browser will support Flash and now I know the answer; it’s a straight up ‘no’. Sadly the Nintendo 3DS won’t support the majority of video we consume online primarily because the Nintendo 3DS only includes a meagre 128MB of RAM and also lacks the hardware decoding to run Flash smoothly. We also won’t be able to open any PDF web documents, but that’s not such a big deal. Anyone bitterly disappointed by this?

I understand that it won’t support’em but man… I gotta say that is a bit of a bummer. The Netflix thing sounds great but it’d be pretty killer to have a YouTube app and/or a native doc reading app for the 3ds as well. I mean I understand that at the heart of it, it’s just a platform for entertainment uses but it’d be killer if it could have practical functions without people having to mod and create homebrew for. Anyways I still love ma 3ds
Well, considering that YouTube now has a 3D video-streaming service, I remain fairly confident that the browser will receive some internet video support.
It’s more likely that the system will utilise its own video service specifically designed for it as suggested. It just means that you won’t be able to browse Youtube as well.

The hardware of most cell phones is more powerful than that of the 3DS, in all honesty (with a major exception for the graphics). I hate to compare Nintendo and Microsoft’s XBox 360, but here’s the stuff: the Xbox only has a 3 core Xeon processor running around 3 GHz, and the graphics hardware isn’t as good as it seems. However, you get beautiful performance out of the obsolete hardware. This is because the FIRMWARE has every little thing optimized, giving you beautiful graphics from a slightly above-average hardware setup. This is exactly what Nintendo does. Low hardware specs, but it runs pretty darn close to flawlessly. I say it’s pure genius.

No flash support, no big deal. That’s what I have a Droid X for. Besides, Apple’s iOS does not even support flash, so why would Nintendo 3DS? These days most people have android phones or other tablets that support flash. NIntendo 3DS is a game system, not a replacement for Android devices.

Didn’t really expect it to. Even iOS doesn’t support Flash. Hopefully Nintendo will partner up with YouTube to make an app where you can watch and share 3D videos. That would be amazing.

As long as a YouTube app is introduced (a 3D-enabled one would be best), we’ll be fine. It would most likely be less cumbersome than using YouTube in the 3DS bowser.
If they follow that up with full 3D movies on Netflix (not just trailers), I’ll have no complaints.

You should be able to access your email client such as Gmail or Hotmail etc.
I’m definitely not disappointed by this. PDF support would be neat, but it’s not necessary and Flash is a CPU intensive plugin that would prove to be more problematic than useful.

I think it’s fine, the only reason I was expecting flash, and am therefore slightly disappointed was because of all the rumours saying it would have it….
It might still get youtube some other way, and i’m guessing that’s the only reason most people want it….It’s the only practical application of flash anyway, games are probably a bit to much for the 3ds to handle

Well, there is a flash browser that you can download and transer to 3ds SD card, and from there to the system, and you can have flash in it.

The ipad doesnt have flash, but it does have a youtube app. Nintendo should try to create an app like this and then release it on the eshop.
