Nintendo America has announced that its planning to release the new Metallic Rose and Midnight Blue versions of the Nintendo DSi XL in North America in a pre-packaged bundle. The two bundles will be available from November 6th and each will come packaged with a free copy of the Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Mini-Land Mayhem! game. The bundles will retail for a suggested price of $169.99.
Whats the point, get a 3DS not DSXL because 3DS has more features and better graphics

That’s exactly the point. The prices are the same so consumers will choose the 3DS over the DSi XL. If the DSi XL was $20 less, for instance, then people might opt for the cheaper hardware. The prices are that way for a reason. I agree get the 3DS, that’s what I did.
If it was $20 less no one would be buying the dsi, its a lose-lose situation.

Actually the PS2 was above most systems bc ppl already owned it and the games were cheaper then buying on PS3. would you have bought a PS3 back then for $600 or stay with your already PS3. Not about business. It’s about how Jew ppl are.
Interestingly, PS2 fits the description of the DS. I agree that it’s still a bit strange for Nintendo to push to sell more DS systems at the same price as the 3DS, but basically, right now, everyone has a DS while less have the 3DS. Much like how Guitar Hero was released for PS2 long after PS3 came out, I predict that DS may get Main RPG Pokemon Games well into the 3DS’s Life-Span.

With the lack of quality software,strong online presence, and price, I think a lot people may get the Dsi XL(especially since u get a free game). Nintendo, please kill the ds so the 3ds can GROW!!

The Midnight Blue has been available for at least a year now, and even the Metallic Rose has been available a couple months now. These aren’t new colors, they are just now bundling Mario Vs. Donkey Kong with it, which is a good thing. But they should drop the price of the DSi XL overall (bundles and solo package) by $20. They’ll probably do it after the holidays though, after 3DS sales jump up.
They would need to drop the DSi by $20 as well, otherwise they would have the same issue with the XL as the 3DS.

It is rather stupid and stuff, however, I still use my DS for DS games since the play quality of DS games on the 3DS is CRAP! And I guess some people, e.g kids who are between 5-10 might not be allowed a 3DS off their parents and get a DSi XL instead, I dunno.. it’s obvious sales will be poor but I guess there’s still a market out there!
Smart parents would look to the future and invest in a 3DS, instead of a console which has been outdated for almost nine months now.
Also, the 3D can be turned off in the options, so that isn’t a problem for children under six, unless their parents are idiots (*looks to parents who buy their kids shovelware*)

Okay seriously, what the crap, Nintendo?!?! Stop releasing so many new colors and bundles. It’s not going to help your sales at all. Miniland Mayhem is a really fun game (I received it last Christmas and I love it), but honestly, there is much more fun to be had with a 3DS (which I also have) that you’re selling for the same price. Wow, just wow….

Some of us 3DS owners still want and are tempted by the DSi XL. Larger screens, better battery life, and DSiware, which most of the eShop games are anyways.
for those of us permanently banned from hatena,dsixl is a good thing to buy,3DS does not have hatena.i love my 3ds but it has no flipnote studios.my dsi is permanently banned so i cant ever get on ever again i would get a new dsixl just so i could have flipnotes again.
Nintendo has said that Flipnote for the 3DS is in development.
This was probably on purpose since (hopefully) people would realize you could get a 3DS instead for the same price. Remember, 3DS sales are TOO DAMN LOW!!!…..But then again the XL is actually pretty decent….
So? Who cares about the DS/DSi when the 3DS is out and offers better games and grapics and more features?

Okay. I really love Nintendo in what they are, but NoA releasing new DSi XL Bundles with a game is really going to be commercial suicide, this holiday season. If Nintendo wants to continue to make the 3DS stronger than it already is, they need to stand by that moral and not do more things to alienate their fans. I’m sorry, but I am believing that Reggie Fils-Aime has fully lost credibility, right here. I mean, I’ve been waiting to hear from him about the North American releases of Xenoblade, The Last Story, and Pandora’s Tower on the Wii as well as pulling some massive marketing on the 3DS with all the games that are going to be hot sellers this Christmas season, but this is the last straw for me because I feel that Reggie Fils-Aime has no idea what he is doing, or he simply just doesn’t care. It’s like how Namco Bandai had so many problems with not doing a whole lot of marketing on the Tales games in the past where they did not end up becoming instant sellers like Tales of Symphonia. Reggie needs to get his act together and realize that doing this is only going to hurt Nintendo, fiscally. It doesn’t help them out as Reggie Fils-Aime and NoA are only sinking themselves lower and lower. If you ask me, I really think that Reggie needs to retire as NoA’s President and give the title to someone who knows how to appeal to their audience like how Satoru Iwata is the one who is more wise than Reggie is.

I own a 3ds but i want a dsi xl too coz on the 3ds is it doesnt hav stuff lik pictochat and flipnote.the xl is huge the 3ds is tiny.on the 3ds it doesnt hav all of the dsi camera effects lik mirror, colour pad and the other effects.so i might start saving up 4 a dsi xl.
