Treyarch: ‘The Wii U Stimulates All Kinds Of Thoughts About What’s Possible’

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, developed by Treyarch, was hinted to be coming to the Wii U but was never confirmed. Treyarch’s top developer, Mark Lamia, believes that the Wii U has potential of becoming a great console and said that “it’ll be interesting to see what happens with the first parties.” Expect Treyarch to confirm whether the game will come to Nintendo’s new console during E3 next week. If Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is coming to the Wii U, what specific features do you want for its controller?

  1. Could this be? Could it? Someone is actually using their brain?! HALLELUJAH! I’m surprised that it’s a CoD developer though.

    1. 1 hour long. They also have another conference on Wednesday night, and it’ll be broadcaster live. Ubisoft also has another 1-hour conference on Thursday being streamed online. That Ubisoft’s conference will be exclusive to showing off Wii U titles from them.

        1. I’m not sure what time in EST, but it’ll be at 6PM PST

Their main conference will be at 9AM, and MTV2 is set in EST and will be broadcasted at 12PM (noon), so I assume it’ll be around 9PM on Wednesday.

  2. I remember when Treyarch made those Spider-Man movie games. The first two were actually quite nice. Oh how far they have come since they were a small budget developer back in the day XD.

  3. Honestly, controller wise, I’m just hoping it’s used mostly for maps and item menus. I don’t mind other uses, like, if they were to make Pokemon Snap 2 and the controller was used like a camera. But if I’m playing something like Zelda or Metroid, I’d rather just have the screen be the map. Though, I’m sure Metroid could put some really good use to it. Call of Duty wise, I think sniper shooting could work really well on the Wii U’s controller. Like when you’re aiming. But I don’t want to have to awkwardly hold the controller up to the screen to aim the entire time I play.

  4. The entire Black Ops 2 games reeks of the Wii U controller to be honest. The whole advanced units, the drones, the equipment they’re using, etc.

  5. You mean the Wii U might actually get the CoD developers to get creative? This is truly the best console in history!

    1. For the Ghost Recon game, I think that’s a large part of the game. I imagine you may manually control drones, turrets, missiles, possibly helicopters

  6. It’ll be pretty interesting to see what kind of stuff they might come out with. Aside from what Ghost Recon has already kind of suggested.

  7. I think they should put load outs on the screen. Having to pause mid game online to change load outs is annoying.

    1. No theres has been alot of changes since cod 4 if thats what your saying . Play with friends then youll understand

      1. wrong.i have seen too many children and friends becoming aggresive not only to me thanks to call of duty.THE GAME IS NOT EVEN TO PLAY IT! thank god i played once and it sucked! and it sucks (modern warfare[5 months ago])

                1. that’s all you can do? insulting won’t do a thing, so this is my last reply to you i won’t waist my time!! n_n

  9. Me hopes dat they put a hole in dah controls pad so me can make sex to it, me also put move controls up bum.

  10. Well, I may hate Treyarch, but they’re a respected developer who puts their name on their claim. Who knows, using the tablet controller for CoD games could make them well worth playing. But mostly, I’m just happy to know that the real developers know the amazing potential of the Wii U.

  11. I want a game that seamlessly blends real time strategy and skill based combat. I’ll use a shooter as an example: The main screen can be used for standard gameplay. You know, the usual shooting baddies and saving the world kind of stuff. Then on the touch screen you can control the position of your squad mates, what weapons they’re using and who they’re attacking. It would give you a whole lot more control of the battle while leaving yourself perfectly capable of kicking as much ass as you want. Wii U CAN be a game changer by adding whole new layers of gameplay, if only it can be used right.

  13. There is a crazy amount of potential in that controller. Controlling remote weapons like drones, maybe it can act as the display for a camera you’ve set up at another location to see when enemies are approaching. Lots of ideas I can’t even put into words. Leave luck to heaven.

  15. It has great potential but will it work as well as they or everyone else expects it to. In other words, will it live up to the hype? Especially with a game as hardcore as Black ops 2.
