Pikmin 3 For Wii U Information And Official Trailer

Nintendo has provided more details about what gamers should expect with the next iteration of the Pikmin franchise on Wii U. The game is expected to be a launch game, along with New Super Mario Bros U, when the system launches sometime later this year.

Pikmin 3 is a fully reimagined, mass-action strategy title from the critically acclaimed Pikmin series. Players will discover a beautiful world filled with strange creatures and take command of a swarm of ant-like Pikmin trying to survive. The world is densely packed with treasures and enemies, which makes the game much more action focused and fills it with layers of potential strategies and paths, adding greater replayability to challenge modes.

Features:

  • Players can play using Wii Remote Plus and Nunchuk-based controls or the Wii U GamePad controller. With new intuitive controls that make it possible to aim at objects directly, players can command their tiny, yet powerful, squads in different ways.
  • The GamePad acts as an overhead map and radar to track Pikmin movements in real time. Players can slide a finger across the touch screen to quickly switch between areas, giving greater flexibility in commanding multiple groups of Pikmin.
  • The greater processing and HD capabilities of the Wii U console are put to extensive use, resulting in a more intricately designed world, enhanced ant-like movement of the Pikmin and precisely detailed overhead views for enabling easier strategic use of the Pikmin.
  • After completing a stage, the replay feature allows players the option to review their results using the GamePad and TV. Fast-forward, rewind or pause while assessing the previous mission to decide on other paths.
  • In addition to the five original types of Pikmin encountered in previous games, the new Rock Pikmin bring powerful new abilities and are able to crack hard outer shells of enemies and break through solid barriers.
  • Mission Mode challenges players to earn the most treasure in a given time.

        1. i don’t know. a miyamoto game for the beginning of the Wii U which launches in time for the holidays? this seems like the kind of situation where it can’t not be a launch title. for them to do otherwise seems unthinkable

    1. I thought everything from Nintendo looked good, except for the sing and dance game, and I guess the new Wii Fit. Pikmin 3 WAS the best though, and Sony’s presentation was also fantastic.

      1. When i seen how good Pikmin looked i said to myself oh crap it’s about to get deep but nope a half hour talking about the same thing they talked about on sunday. It would have been more enjoyable for me if i seen more Nintendo game trailers. Nintendo talked about connectivity a little to much today.

    2. I’m sorry but what? 2-3 games that look good (the last of us looks SICK:)) compared to 20-25 near-guaranteed to be good games on WiiWoo. Again, what? Oh yeah, the vita, but at the same time, a sad truth is that portables have lost to apples mainstream audience.

    3. seriously…you really think that…subjectively you’re entitled to your opinion but objectively…no, you’re wrong i’m sorry

  1. I couldn’t be happier, I had a bad feeling Nintendo would find a way to ruin this… but it turned out better than I hoped :D

    1. I know right, but trust in them cus they wont disappoint, we’re at that point where after E3 probably devs are gearing up to roll out info on their games when they feel like they’re ready. I’m super excited in what’s in store in the rest of the year..

  2. although I was hoping for more games to be reveal so it’ll get me hype up for WiiU, but after watching Pikmin 3 and ZombiU, lets just say..MY BODY IS READY!!!!! :)

  3. Did anybody besides me notice that throughout the entire trailer there were 3 different captains? Also if they feature 3 captains or more THEY HAD BETTER BRING BACK LOUIE FROM PIKMIN 2!!!

  4. I’m really excited for this one. If you were disappointed by the Nintendo conference. Check out the Nintendo website for more cool Wii U info and introductory videos. Also the NDAs Nintendo had on developers is probably gone now so expect a lot more devs to reveal projects coming to Wii U. Leave luck to heaven

    1. I was disappointed in the game department.I know the games are coming but i felt like their were no games directed at me.Wiiu is a day1 buy for me but damn I know Nintendo want their 3rd party dev games to do well.I felt like the 3rd dev is holding Nintendo back a little i think.

      1. I understand completely. It was just a simple case of the hype being too much for Nintendo to live up to. After going to the Nintendo E3 website, I’m satisified with what Nintendo brought. Some cool videos there.

I wonder though why was Nintendo’s conference only an hour long? Sony and MS conferences were 90 mins long iirc.

        1. It wasn’t to much about hype for me I just wanted Nintendo to show me a little more then Pikmin/Mario and Nintendo Land I’m sure it will be a blast to play Nintendo Land. I know i’m going to play the heck out of Pikmin.

          1. Come on, dude. The hype was HUGE! some people were expecting to see: A new 3D Mario platformer. A new Zelda (even though Skyward Sword only came out last year, it would be impossible for them to have another one ready so soon)

A new Metroid ( I believe this is in development)

A new Star Fox (also rumoured to be in development)

I think Nintendo has a lot of things in the works.

Oh yeah, people love Pikmin. I think Nintendo has more in store for us, they just didn’t have it ready for E3. It’s cool, I can wait.
