Shin’en developer Manfred Linzner thinks that re-released HD Wii games on Wii U would be better than many of the current games that are available on consoles such as Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Nintendo hasn’t mentioned whether or not it will release select Wii games in HD, but it’s clearly something that fans are clamouring for.
“You could easily take many original Wii titles from Retro Studios or Nintendo and release them again in HD and they would look and play better than many current titles. I believe that the most important resource in game development is the developers, rather than the actual hardware.”

It’s impossible to upscale the graphics because console graphics are set at a certain quality. It would be a waste to make that feature within a game because it would take up a lot of unnecessary space on the disc that the current system could not use.
If they release Wii games as digital downloads, it’s possible for the graphics to be upscaled, but it wouldn’t be a simple port. They would have to take some time to upscale the graphics.
Re-release xenoblade chronicles in HD. It would be an instant buy for me.

I would rebuy Xenoblade just to play it in HD. I already have the game and the graphics are already mighty impressive on the Wii, but it would probably look like gold on the Wii U.

No, they would release them with more polygons. They did so with Zelda Ocarina of Time 3D and they know that people won’t buy a game they already have(and can already play on the same system) just because it’s in higher resolution.

Yeah, it would’ve looked better if it was a more powerful console, it would miles better than about 95% of the 360/ps3 games, but that doesnt mean they dont look incredible, theyre just in standard definition.
Okami is a last gen game. One of the best looking games ever now its got a HD release.
Art style and knowin how to use the system to your advantage will always be better than making a game that tries to look realistic or cram as much stuff on one screen as possible.

I know what you mean, with more power you have the ability to improve graphics among other things as well. It’s always a plus with having more power. It’s not trickery but technique and Nintendo knows how to utilise what they have to the fullest. That is why they are better even without having the most money

Well…they did re-release some Gamecube games for the Wii…soooo…maybe. Some games would do well with an HD port, like Xenoblade Chronicles, any of the two Zelda’s, or Super Mario Galaxy 2. They wouldn’t even have to change the controls, just upscale the graphics a little.

I think SS, will NEVER be remaked. Skyward strike and sword battling would be impossible to do. But, The Wind Waker and Twilight princess would be good. But, im gonna buy original Wind Waker and i own TP so, who cares. I also have played SS trough, but Xenoblade would be superb.
You can still use motionplus…youjust wouldnt be able to play on the gamepad. But TP and WW could be amazing on the pad

If you’re honestly telling us that there are past Nintendo titles that you would not pay to see brought to a next-gen system, with better graphics and possible new content and even the possibility of DLC[more Double Dash tracks, for instance], then I’m calling you out.
There’s a huge back-log of games that I would throw money at Nintendo, hand over fist, to remake and bring back with new options and nicer graphics.[even though graphical horsepower isn’t as important as asthetic style.]
I doubt there’s a gamer alive that doesn’t have an old N64/Cube/SNES/NES game they would love to see brought back to life.
And it seems to me that Sony is slowly starting to pick up on this desire for old things brought to new days, as well.
They’re bringing Zone of the Enders to the PS3 with a collection, and that has me tickled pink since I never got to play them on PS2/1.
All in all, it isn’t a bad idea to bring old classics back.
As long as new IP’s aren’t totally abandoned [and despite the lack of them, they have not been entirely abandoned yet], then I applaud any efforts to bring back games from the “golden ages of gaming”.

While I’d always prefer Nintendo to work on new projects, the statement is entirely the truth. Modern games (non-Nintendo) are terrible and have no real replay value, while I’ve been going back through multiple Zelda titles.
HD remakes do have a good spot for Wii U because they can be made a but more quickly than than new Wii U titles, which would simply bring more 1st party titles to the system
I know I want a lot of old Nintendo games in HD. Gimme some OoT, WW TP, Mario Sunshine, No More Heroes 1& 2 and I’ll take the Rainfall games in HD too. Leave luck to heaven.
