        1. Ive played all New Super Mario brothers and I can say this looks much more appealing than those other ones although I love them still..

  1. I hate it when people say the 2D sidescrolling Mario games aren’t the real Mario games, and that the 3D ones are. Umm, hello everyone, Mario started off as a 2D sidescroller, so if anything those are the real games not the 3D ones.

    This looks awesome though.

    1. The old 2D Mario games are so much better than the New, New, but not really Super Mario Bros. games they put out now. When they make a 2D Mario of the same quality and innovation as the classics i’ll get it. This is the same game over and over and over. The music doesn’t even change.

              1. I agree with mike. This game is not much different from the old NSMB, from the look of the trailer. There are a few changes but I feel like the game was being rush to meet the WiiU deatlime. Just my opinion. Don’t get me wrong, Im a Nintendo fan too.

        1. Being a troll is the unnecessary bashing of the game before even playing it, plus claiming that Microsoft and Sony are better in every way possible when we know they aren’t. This is just a difference of opinion, not blatant disrespect. And I kinda agree with Mike S, as they could improve on it more than just adding a new power to wield. They could do something new like increase the strength of already established powers like the fire flower. Once when you get the item again while Mario’s already in his fire form, he can more fireballs faster by alternating with both hands

          1. Thing is, though

this is an entirely new song. :B
I’m guessing you never really payed attention to the NSMB games in the first place, so it’s ok.

                  1. I hear a lot of similarity and a lot of difference between them. You have the exact type of movements in the exact measure placements. That’s the similar part. The different part are the notes used. It sounds like a lot more dotted quarter notes are used in the WiiU game. The notes are shorter so you can have more notes per measure, giving you a faster sounding melody then the Wii version. So it can’t be said that they are completely the same or completely different. But they definitely have their similarities.

I have to agree about the “wah wah’s” too. I don’t care for them. Other then that, I dig the environments and some of the SMW mechanics shown in this trailer.

      1. “The old 2D Mario games are so much better than the New”

        No they aren’t.

“This is the same game over and over and over.”

        Are you fucking blind?

        “The music doesn’t even change.”

        Are you fucking DEAF?

    2. I would say that the true place of mario games is the one of innovation, that would be why the people want a 3D mario so bad because of the innovation it will surely have, I love the 2D but its getting kind of repetitive with this fourth in the series, BUT let’s wait for a look on the design of this.

        1. Ah, spoken like a true dumb ass who never played any 2D Mario.

I’m going to be an idiot here too: the 3D games are nothing but collecting shit!

          1. I’d rather play Super Mario Galaxy 1&2 than the New Super Mario Bros. games. The only one with any originality was the first on DS, then it went down hill. Including the Wii U game we’ve had the same fucking bosses 3 games in a row (The Koopalings, Bowser Jr, and Bowser). Only one boss in each version was different, and even then it was someone we’ve already seen before (Kamek in Wii, Reznors in 3DS, and Boom Boom in Wii U). Now try and tell me i’m wrong, try, I DARE you.

            1. very true, ill let this wii u game slide, it looks good, but the next time nintendo makes a 2d mario, it better have a new art style and new enemies/characters. and maybe a newer, more clever name than new new super mario bros

    3. It does indeed look awesome, and I will certainly be picking it up for its multi-player aspects, since NSMB-Wii did such a great job of that. (I’ve put around Ninety-Hours into so far). Though I will admit one day I wish to see a 2D Mario game based on the 2D-segments in the Galaxy series, Since those really did push 2D Gaming to whole new level

    4. Who the fuck says that?! Seriously, are you quoting somebody? Do you have any sources? Of course you don’t you fucking dumbass, also, I’m loving the “Hello?” thing, Its the cherry on top of your bullshit.

  2. Can somebody tell me why the video on Game informer seems to be at a greater fps than the youtube one? I think it may be because the game runs at 60 fps and youtube caps at 30 but I’m not that informed on these things.

    1. agreed. it actually seems like they are adding a ton to it as well besides just powerups. i can already tell that this game will be fantastic and i will waste hours upon hours on this game.

  3. I like the twist they made to the mini mushroom, and after seeing it more on acction, the flying squirrel may end up being a better power up than the racoon suit

    1. I really hope so. I get tired of playing the first few worlds with no challenge at all. I’m hoping for a lot of alternate exits as well

  4. This game looks like a combination of Super Mario Bros 3 and Super Mario World. Two of the most epic games of all time. I’ll pick this one up. Leave luck to heaven.

  5. This will be my first wii u game :)

I love the music. The cave new jewel colors looks amazing! I also love those waterfall backgrounds too. Very detailed and nice. I still dont get how that new mushroom house worked though.

For those who keep thinking “its just a mario game”

Well its more than that. I gotta say, NSMB2 made it look rushed. Fun overall, yes, but this game (U version) looks amazing, and looks way better graphically. Even tho i dont have a 3ds, the 2 version did look rushed, but the U version is amazing.

This definately looks like 60fps, idk why sonic racing looks so laggy :(

TANK! (x3) better have 60fps, that kind of game needs it.

    1. So far…. ice mario, squirrel mario (or whatev its called), mini mario, and thats it, right?

Hopefully penguin mario and propeller. They were favorites :)

      1. Sorry for the english, its not my native language

propeller probably won’t be there. the flying squirrel mario flies so the propeller isn’t necessary. this game needs more power ups. NSMBW had more power ups than this one. well, that is, if your not counting the baby yoshis as power ups.

          1. Sorry for the english, its not my native language

counting baby yoshis as power ups or not, i will play that game over and over. it makes me remember when i played super mario world hours and hours, trying to find every single secret area. good old days…

  6. Say what you will about this game’s graphics but this is the best I have seen Lemmy Koopa look. The HD graphics are helping.

  8. This 3D Mario looks amazing. I’m loving what the HD graphics are doing for the gameplay. And the level design looks brilliant.

  9. In my opinion this is not the same thing as the last couple NSMBs. There’s so much different in this game it’s rediculous. They should’ve renamed this something else. It even has the Super Mario World map. This game looks fun and that’s all that matters to me.

  10. I’ve always had fun with Mario games so its definite that I’ll pick it up. I just wish the power ups had more features to them. Probably could use some different music. Even though its the next game, music almost always makes up 1/3 that to the freshness of a new game

  11. Hopefully the 3D Wii U Mario game will have more effort put into it. This looks like a total rehash of the previous NSMB games. Hate to say it as a huge Mario fan, but these 2D games as of late are getting extremely boring.

  12. The game still looks way too easy!
Specially the bosses so I´ll pass on this,,,
I’ll only consider buying this when they drop the price by half in a few years…
