Platinum Games: “We Are Very Interested In The Nintendo 3DS”

Executive director Atsushi Inaba of Platinum Games, the developer behind Wii U exclusive Bayonetta 2, says he and his team are intrigued by Nintendo’s latest handheld. Inaba is impressed with the Nintendo 3DS’ capability of producing stereoscopic 3D that can be seen with the naked eye – without being required to wear special glasses. Inaba confirmed, however, Platinum Games currently has nothing in the works for the 3D handheld.

“We are very interested in the Nintendo 3DS as a platform. I view 3DS as a proper, straightforward evolution from a platform that has had huge success. Being able to view stereoscopic 3D with the naked eye is a great innovation, but very straightforward, so I’m very interested in it.”

“Currently we have a lot of titles in development, and we can’t fund a 3DS game ourselves. So there’s nothing in the works. But I’m very positive on it.”

    1. I’d rather have madworld in HD on the WiiU, that way I could play it with Wii remotes, or dual sticks and an on-screen map, or just on the controller. So many options!

  1. I like Platinum Games. They are excellent video game creators. I hope they make games for the 3DS. Vanquish 3DS! Platinum Games should partner with Nintendo to bring back unused Nintendo IP, like Star Tropics, Earthbound, Yoshi, Geist, and Eternal Darkness. Or maybe they could make a game where Bowser was the antihero, fighting aliens. Or better yet a Luigi game where Luigi is a ninja who can fight robots.

  2. I’d be cool if they made Metal Gear Rising for the Wii U, I’d rather play that game on a Wii Motion+ controller over a regular controller any day.

    1. Motion+ would be awesome, or you could use a pro controller, or the gamepad with map/inventory displayed, or play off the gamepad alone. SO MANY OPTIONS. I mean devs can do whatever the hell they want :O

  3. Nintendo, I think this is a good hint for a Platinum Games to co-develop a brand new Star Fox game on 3DS. I would also like to see Nintendo publish a game from Platinum on 3DS. Right now the 3DS has a couple of good titles coming out but not a whole lot. The more the merrier at this rate! Imagine a Madworld 3D or Vanquish 3D.
