It appears as though Sony’s latest handheld, PlayStation Vita, which released February 2012 in North America and Europe, will not receive a price cut this year. Sony’s managing director of PlayStation UK, Fergal Gara, confirmed the PlayStation Vita’s price will be reduced sometime next year, 2013. Nintendo 3DS, which launched March 2011 in North America and Europe, received a major price drop less than five months after its debut.

PS vita will only get a $50-70 price cut. 3ds already had its price cut and already had a long lineup of games by the time it had a price cut, Vita still doesnt have many games and wont sell now until the price cut, and chances are it still wont have that many games by the time the price is cut. Sorry but as much as I hate to say it, I don’t think Vita will be able to recover, its a shame =/
Anyone who says the Vita doesn’t offer many good games doesn’t know shit and needs to open their eyes.
As of now, the games have all received mediocre scores and are not worthwhile to spend at least $345 on a handheld. That is with a memory card at $80, the cheapest system ($249.99) and tax. The 3ds is 170 and there are already over 15 games worthwhile and it still has plenty more coming fairly regularly, also we have the incredible library of the DS at our fingertips, including new games. You can’t play any hard-copy PSP games that you’ve already purchased, which is a waste. It has about 7 games worthwhile as of now and thats probably being generous. So you can pay under $400 on a 3ds, and get an SD card for about $30 on ebay if you really want a better SD card, the system itself costs $170 and you can get 3 games. $400 on a vita gets you the system, a memory card and 1 game. I wonder which is the better deal?

I happen to own a PS3 alongside my Wii and 3DS and I’ve owned a nice, wide variety of games on all three systems.
Everything from Mario to Infamous, Borderlands to Devil May Cry to Muramasa: The Demon Blade, Okami to Ar Tonelico 1,2, and 3. Tip of the iceberg, those.
I’ve owned, rented, and traded in a hefty amount of titles on all three systems.

At least MY opinion of the Vita is formed after having watched it for most of its life and having found no reason to get it in terms of software, and that’s not counting how bad it feels when holding it. The sticks on it are complete shit and the back touch screen isn’t used creatively in enough games to convince me that the system is anywhere near plunking down money for.
The line-up and the system do not impress me. They’ve had plenty of chance and have not given me enough reasons.

I’ll agree that the Vita’s line-up has immensely improved. and I still plan on pickin me one up for my own personal tastes in games (I dont discriminate any system. I love them all). But you gotta understand where he is comin from. It took the Vita a FULL YEAR just to get a decent line-up goin, in which the 3DS achieved in a little under half a year. Knock it if you like, the 3DS has just as many great games as the Vita, if not more due to its performance. But both of you are basically singin the same exact song; he doesnt like whats on vita and you dont like whats on 3ds. Due to the Vita’s (massively) slow start, many gamers have been turned off from the system. Hell, I was almost turned off from it, and even Sickr lost interest. I actually mourned when he got rid of that sony page he had. Much like how the wii wasn’t pumpin out any good games fast enough for gamer satisfaction, the vita is actually down that same track. Dont bash me for speakin my own views, but that’s just what i got outta it. I have love for all systems, even the Xbox (even though I really dont like it, personally, I give it it’s props for it’s success)

In the coming months, Vita will have plenty of games. Hopefully the price cut puts pressure on Nintendo so they will finally go all out on new and exciting titles (I WANT STARFOX GOD DAMMIT).
i miss starfox too much,i have only 2 starfox games,starfox adventures which is my favourite and starfox 64 which is1 of my epicest games

Id rather retro works on star fox, I wouldn’t want Starfox to turn to hack and slash or open world brawler that’s why.
Adventures? Personally it was my least favourite since it was pretty much completely on foot. Not to mention every time you get an item >.< that got annoying quick. I own stardom 64, 3d, adventures and while I don't own it, I played assault multiplayer with my cousin, I personally liked it quite a bit on foot, land master and arwing.
I’ve been on the fence about Vita for ages.
It still feels bad to hold and control, but I could probably push past that if it gave me more software reasons to look at it. Like, say, a hefty amount of games that use the back screen in very creative ways, or unexpected sequels to games I’ve played on the PS3 before.

That’s the problem, Rayman Origins, Uncharted, WipEout 2048 and others, we can play on PS3, it’s not new games and many of this games were the first lineup of games, now tell me with sincerity, do you really thinks that PSV has a decent number of games (made to PSV)? It’s still not decent, and if you take off the games that we have on PS3 will remaining few games that worth to play.
The only games out of those that I listed you can play on the PS3 are Sound Shapes (which was developed for Vita first) and Rayman Origins. The rest are Vita exclusives AND I said that was off the top of my head. I can list more if you want me to. So I really don’t know what you’re talking about.
They ARE new games. That’s like saying Mario and Zelda are on Wii, DS, N64, SNES, etc. so no reason to get it on 3DS. Same franchise, different games.

Of course there are new games, but let’s clear some things, we have 2 new Mario games on 3DS (NSMB 2 and Mario 3D Land), we have a new MK7, we have a remake of Starfox 64 and Zelda OOT (same games on N64, but with better graphics so….), so no, don’t compare VITA with 3DS, it’s not the same games, but if you are ok with the PSV decent NUMBER of games, ok….

And yes, you did make a mistake with WipEout. As a massive fan of Sony and Nintendo in addition to someone who has worked in games retail, and gaming industry in the past, and currently gaming press… I’m fairly confident with what I’m talking about.
I own a 3DS and a Vita and enjoy what both have to offer.
Read again, I’m comparing games, and not the devices, you just read fast… 3DS has “new” games like Mario 3D/2D, that, there is not in others plataforms (Wii as a example), and if you worked in gaming industry and still are trying to convince yourself that PSV has a decent NUMBER of games, the barely 2.2k sold says otherwise, what makes a device sell is games… so, no.
By the way, I have a 3DS and PSP, my brother has a PS3, so don’t take me like a fool, I enjoy both devices and you are defending PSV in the wrong way, better talk about the quality of the games instead quantity.

I had a 3DS, it didn’t stop me from getting a Vita. I have a PS3, Wii, and Xbox 360. That wont stop me from getting a Wii U.

Even so. It’s not a problem if you just own one system. Honestly, it may be a personal choice or for financial reasons. That doesn’t mean one has to constantly put down the system they don’t own. It’s ridiculous.
I defend where it needs to be defended. Other sites, when people troll Nintendo, or Sony, or Microsoft, I’ll defend each where I see fit. I usually don’t like to respond to trolls, but I do try to correct ignorance.
Sony is usually under attack here, so that’s why it may seem like I defend them more. I’m not partial to any system or company.

I never said that I didn’t like the Vita. I think its to late thats all. I only need one system to keep me occupied and I speak for a lot of people when I say that. I’m the only gamer in my house and now my family likesto play with nitendo products because its family friendly. I like SONY but they have to learn their lesson. I’m not saying nintendo never makes mistakes, but they do know how to make fun games and systems that’s original. Price cuts won’t help the Vita. Nintendo 3DS will have such a great library and already does, it just needs some more 3rd party support, Vita’s chances are gone. Vita is the PSP Go, epic fail, DOA.
I don’t think so. The PS3 started roughly (not as badly as Vita though), but after the price cut more people bought it and more devs supported it. And now Ps3 sale is not bad, even though it’s not as good as Wii and X360 sales.

Aside from price cut, the Vita needs also games! That’s the most important part. And I don’t think a price cut AFTER Christmas will have so much impact as they hope to.
