Shadow Of The Eternals Kickstarter Opened

shadow of the eternals

Precursor Games spiritual successor to the cult Gamecube classic Eternal Darkness is now on Kickstarter.  Shadow of the Eternals has already raised six thousand dollars at the time of writing, but still has a long way to go to reach its lofty $1,350,000 goal. The project will only be funded if at least $1,350,000 is pledged by Wednesday Jun 19, 12:00am EDT. Are you going to back this Wii U and PC psychological horror project?

Thanks, Mike S

    1. This is something people have wanted but were never sure if it would happen. HD remakes from nintendo will be likely depending on how well Wind Waker does I assume. So TTYD could very well happen and Nintendo wouldn’t need a kickstarter for it. So Do NOT SCREW THIS for us.

    1. honestly thats what i think will happen, unless retros fucking project will be it!!!! i dont think so though. just yawwwn another metroid game that will probably get stale after the 10th one. just make something different.

  1. Um, I WILL pay $60 for a fully reworked, HD version of Eternal Darkness, complete with new Mind-fuck Sanity illusions.

I love the way this game looks. And the 9 min of footage, did anyone else catch that it’s the EXACT SAME as Eternal Darkness? The monks, the bookshelf passage, (The girls in the beginning are new, as are the monster designs) – So, even if this were an HD version of Eternal Darkness (Which I know, it’s technically not the same game) I’d still pay top dollar for it if it sere done as deep (three magik courses to 100% the game) as the original.

Hell, I’m toss some money at it. The only Kickstarter I’ve seem I’d pay before I play.

    1. Unfortunately hoping isn’t gonna help as much as helping the goal get reached. If you really want the game you HAVE to have at least $5 lying around somewhere. If you already plan to put money up then thats great but you can’t really hope a game comes and not support the funding needed to make it happen. I plan on donating myself for sure.

      1. Well said, if they want the WiiU to succeed, help it, I bought crap games on my 3DS while it was struggling, and I’m doing the same with my Vita, you just can’t just “hope” others help, and all will be find and dandy. We the consumer make and break these companies, so put up or shut up.

        (Not directed at you ott)

  2. If this kickstarter doesn’t reach it’s funding goal, Nintendo should jump in. It has great potential as a more “core” title for Wii U. Either way it looks like it should be good.

  3. If this is not vaporware nor a “Aliens:Colonial Marines” switcheroo, then have Nintendo fund it. As for donating, makes no sense to me unless my donation gets me the Wii U version of the game. That’s the platform I want it for, not my PC.

  4. Maybe Nintendo will help fund the Game like Bayonetta 2 if the crowd funding campaign doesn’t work and it’ll be a Wii U exclusive.

  5. I’ve already donated $50. It seems fair considering you get a full copy of the game, and some other bits, for free. It’s like… buying the game, to fund the game, so they can sell the game… if that makes sense.

Regardless of that, crowdfunding is the ideal way to support independent developers and creative new games. It is about time more people started support it, instead of the unsustainable current model.

  6. Sickr:

    – Is there any explanation as to why Precursor Games now all of a sudden is allowed to raise money via Kickstarter? In the previous posts it was explained that they weren’t allowed to do so because they weren’t located in the U.K. or U.S. Have they moved in order to allow this, or was there something else they could have done to allow it?

This doesn’t seem to be on par with the information of the original fundraising site:

    “Project FAQ

What happens if you do not reach your goal *UPDATED*?
Our financial goal is a flexible one. All contributions will go directly towards the development of this game and making it a reality. We are committed to making this game, however, if it becomes apparent that we cannot raise enough to develop this project then we will refund all pledges.”

    1. Yeah you can get exclusive prizes, DLC, the ability to add in your own content sometimes too!!!(if you pay a lot though…) 💋

Can someone explain to me the concept of receiving “Episodes” as they are made? Will we be downloading the next part of the game as it’s developed? I’m kinda confused by all of this.

And if we don’t support the crowdfund but it still gets made, it’ll be released physically on retail?

    1. its basically like tell tales the walking dead on pc and consoles. you buy the game and get each episode as it comes out or buy it episode by episode.

    2. seeing as its being released as Episodes, i very much doubt itll come out in physical media, you know, unless it does extremely well like The Walking Dead game.

  8. Those Kickstarters are a blessing that every indie developer (or non-super corporation like Nintendo, Sony, EA) needed. It seems like most games will have a chance to meet the light of day thanks to this method. I am happy with this. More games = more fun, right? =)

    1. Yes, and it also allows con-artists like Anita Sarkeesian to exploit their position as perceived victims of a nonexistent issue to scam a bunch of idiotic virgins who are willing to go white knight for them.

  9. I never got The Walking Dead. Do episodic games come as individual files for each episode or is it one game and the episodes are kind of treated like dlc? I really don’t want 6+ file spots taken up by this game on my Wii U menu.
