Nintendo DS’ Pokémon Conquest May Be Getting Sequel

pokemon_conquest

Developer Tecmo Koei has hinted that Pokémon Conquest may be getting a sequel. The game, which is a crossover between the Pokémon and Nobunaga’s Ambition video game series, was released in 2012 for the Nintendo DS, though it was apparently in development even before Nintendo’s latest hand-held console – the Nintendo 3DS – existed.

When asked whether a sequel to the game is coming, Tecmo Koei’s executive vice president, Hisashi Koinuma, hinted that “there was a lot of unfinished material for Pokémon Conquest. …” Do you want a sequel to Pokémon Conquest? Did you enjoy the original game? Let us know in the comments below.

  1. I thought the game was just okay. I’ve been thinking of selling it recently because I haven’t wanted to pick up and play in almost a year. Meh.

  2. Funny, I just got back into playing it yesterday. I have to say, there’s so much content. I loved this game, especially since I’m a huge fan of the Tecmo Koei games. Maybe a one using characters from Dynasty Warriors is next?

    1. Sometimes their is a comment you see on the Internet that you completely agree with. This is one if those times.

  3. pretty much the only pokemon game I haven’t given a shot at other than Pokemon Typing. Might have to look into it soon if there is going to be a sequel.

  4. Yes please. I will also love if namco did a rebel star tactical command sequel or put it on the 3ds eshop.

  6. the only good pokemon games i hear are the traditional gamboy ones. everything else is supposed to suck. pokemon stadium and snap were ok but otherwise not.

          1. yes and the fact i dont play pokemon anymore. i mean i played fire red on an emulator same with most of emerald, but just not into peokemon anymore.

    1. Well that might be true for most Pokemon spinoffs. This is the exception. Pokemon Conquest was the best Pokemon Spinoff I have ever played… and I’ve played them all, except for the new Mystery Dungeons (which are pretty crappy). 💋

    2. That’s what I think too, but Pokémon Conquest was really, really good. Especially if you like Final Fantasy Tactics and Disgaea and those kinds of games.

  7. All they need to do is take the original and build from it, using the original as a foundation. Find the negatives, eliminate them. Reiterating: Keep what was good about the original and expand/build from it. Remove the negatives with fixes.

    Perfect Sequel.

  8. I still need to give this a shot. Is it worth it? Hear it’s like a mix between Pokemon and Fire Emblem.

    1. Not Fire Emblem (although the game play is similar) but Samurai Warrior series.
It reminds me though when Fire Emblem: Awakening is out, I heard some Pokemon fanboys shout “It’s copying Pokemon Conquest!”

  9. HOLY SHIT YES!!!!! Pokemon conquest <3 4 lyfe!!!!!!

One of the best DS games I played. Got hooked. Enjoyed it more than BW2

      1. Really way a fascinating game. I bought it for cheap later on and I fell in love with it. It was near perfect , it was just a bit frustrating and tedious at times.

I give the game about a 9.5/10 if I had to score it I really would.

  10. I would more than welcome another well-made Tactical RPG to the 3DS library; the western market is rather light on those kind of games, yet swamped with contextless shooters and hyper-violent platformers. Additionally, I have not played a Pokemon game in a while.

  11. This Sounds Great! :D I Will Love to see the Game come on the 3DS with 3D Pokemon and Improved Graphics! I really liked the first; I will love a second but they should wait till 6th Gen Games (X/Y) are released!

  12. I never even played the first Pokémon Conquest because I felt it looked stupid (same with Fire Emblem games). But I guess I can’t judge a book by it’s cover. Or in this case, a game by screen-shots and video footage.

      1. Only mainly when they praise first person shooters, war games, sports games or casual cellphone-like games. Even I’ll admit that I’m not always fair in my judgment. But some games just has a boring “look” that causes me to never give them a chance.

  13. I rented the first one a few months ago. I was going to buy it soon, but maybe I’ll wait dor the sequel.

  14. I actually really enjoyed that game. Though I would prefer to see a Dynasty Warriors setting, mainly because I’m more familiar with those characters.

  15. You guys will never beleive this! I’m playing FireRed and I litterally wasted 49 Ultra Balls trying to catch Moltress! I had 63 when I encoutered it and now I have 14! ALMOST 50 ULTRA BALLS!

    1. That was a lot. What I do is I will save right before I catch legendary pokemon, and reload if I can’t catch it for a certain time.
I used a lot of balls to catch Terrakion in Black 2… way more than what I used to catch Cobalion and Virizion.

      1. Yeah I saved before I fight legendaries to! Man the amount time it takes to catch these legendaries are unbeleivable! Also I haven’t played Black and White 2 yet but I have finished the first half (the Pokemon League part) of Black 1 though.

  16. With their current support for both Wii U and 3DS, I doubt Nintendo will let them play around with the Pokemon IP any time soon.

  17. This game was awesome. Awesome! I really hope they make a sequal if they feel that they have everything they need in order to do so. It will be very much welcome.:)

  19. I personally really liked the game, but it did feel like it was lacking. I’d welcome a sequel with open arms, and hoping that it had more content than the previous title.
