Nintendo has reminded gamers that Game Boy Color classics The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons are coming to the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console this Thursday, May 30th. For three weeks after they launch, both games can be purchased for less than $10. Will you be purchasing both games? If yes, which of the two are you planning to download first? I can’t wait! I accidentally deposited the money on to my account thinking they were already out. Whoopsies.
Same here, I used to play Oracle of Ages when I was a kid. Can’t wait to buy that again.
The Oracle games were one of the only Zelda games I missed back in the day so this is a huge plus for me.
But at least you have it there so you can download it whenever you want, lucky!
I did the same since the store’s vague ‘coming next week at 9am’ made it sound like monday, so now i have 20 bucks tempting me to buy the megaman series for the 2nd time (ps2 copy). a slight annoyance but oh well, its nothing like their youtube controversy
Second
So how different are these two games? Is it worth buying both? I played seasons when i was a kid
They are entirely different. Just similar gameplay, like most Zelda’s.
Seasons has a bigger emphasis on combat, while Ages has a bigger emphasis on puzzles, and if you use the code you get at the end of one[doesn’t matter which one you play first], you can carry over your adventure into the second game, which will allow you to unlock new secrets in both games as well as drastically change the final boss of the game and a few other small elements of the story.
It’s worth every penny to get both, but be prepared to write down a lot of codes if you’re the kind of player that wants to get every single secret there is.XD
Basically this. I played both and they’re definitely separate enough for your money, unlike Pokemon Red vs. Pokemon Blue (which you only need one to see 99% of the content, the other 1% being the extra ‘mons).
I came here curious to know how the link system works if on the same console; glad to know it will work. Don’t care if I have to write down the (ridiculously long >_>) passwords. I did it back in the day and I can do it again :)
Seasons for nostalgic reasons.
Ditto. Seasons was the one I played first, and I loved it to death.
Which partner was your favorite?
about damn time too. now I don’t have to hack my iphone to play these games on the go. now waiting for minish cap and alttp gba. so nintendo needs to get with it pronto.
You don’t need to ‘hack’ your phone, normal emulators work fine. Emulators have existed for a long long time on PCs too, so it shouldn’t surprise anybody. But fuck emulators, really… I already own both of the carts, but I’ll be buying the 3DS versions. The 3DS is great, the XL screen especially makes it all worth it. It’s Zelda, so I don’t mind paying again for them.
How are they supposed to connect to each other? Because on the site they said you can unlock stuff in both games by progressing through the games counter part.
You get a password at the end off the first one you play, and if you use that to start a file on the second game, the story changes and you can find more passwords around the game to unlock even more stuff, like your level 3 sword and shield.
Download ALL THE ZELDAS
Never played these two games. Can’t wait to finally give them a shot.
Omg! I want both. I love the 4 seasons and I mature through the ages, but I’ll always be me! Hugs?
hugs!
OMG ZELDA!!!! (Head explodes)
Couldn’t have asked foe a nicer birthday present. :-D
Hope my 3DS gets back in time.
YES! Can’t wait! Already played them both hundreds of times but still can’t wait!
Okay, soooooo
What’s the difference between both games?
Both have different core storylines, and different worlds. Seasons focuses more on combat[and is my personal favorite of the two] while Ages focuses more on puzzle solving.
Both get a different ending and a change to the final boss and small parts of the plot, when you use the code from the end of one of them to start a new file in the other game.
Oh thats cool, i think i’d enjoy Ages more, but it’s cool that they’re both different games, looks like i’m getting both xD
Playing through Link’s Awakening right now :3
“Less” than $10.
Forgetting about tax, Nintendo?
i’m pretty sure there is no tax on the eshop
There definitely isn’t a tax. I bought them both this morning and both were exactly $4.99. No tax! Yay!
there is tax, depends where you put as your location for tax processing
Pass. I’d rather buy something good. The new Donkey Kong game will get my money.
This doesnt look very HD and stuff. Are there at least boobs?
The Oracle games not good? What’s wrong with you Jelly?!
He’s Jelly. This kinda thing is his M.O.
Well according to N-Dub, I’m actually a Jellyfish.
Never liked them. Only zelda game I actually loved was A link to the past.
A great game, but not my personal favorite.
That title is a tie between the Oracle twins, Majora’s Mask, and Link’s Awakening.
A link to the past would have to be in my top 10 favourite games of all time. It’s the reason every other zelda disappoints me, I just loved that game so much. Can’t wait for the 3DS Zelda coming out.
Well shit, that explains everything.XD Of course others are going to suck if you consider everything but your personal best to be inferior to the point of not playing.
Try looking at them without your ALttP goggles on and maybe you’ll find a new level of entertainment in some of them.
I honestly dont like ALTTP that much, it’s good….but that’s about it, i have issues with it, like how all the dungeons look too similar, my favourite 2D Zelda is easily Minish Cap, takes what i like about both the 2D, the and 3D Zelda’s theming, i love it.
ALTTP for me. I loved that game after I played it. Fun. More hugs!
Hell yes! Never got to play these games back in the day. Which game came out first or does it not matter which order you play them in?
they both came out at the same time. 2001. :3 It doesn’t matter which order you play them in really. Seasons focuses on more combat/action, while Ages focuses on puzzles (like others have said before me). So play whichever one you think you’ll have more fun with first. (But both are way fun– I played them both when I was younger and loved them!)
I have a question. If you play Seasons first and put that password in Ages when starting a new file, is Ages’ gameplay and story then going to differ heavily from the version without password?
There are a few plot differences, some are small things, some are big things, but gameplay is constant, with a few extra bonuses and changes
I still conserve the original player guide and it is inmaculade
Never played either, but I’m a big fan of the series and can’t wait
Woo hoo roll on Thursday Zelda
