O2 Hotspots To Provide Free Wi-Fi For Nintendo UK 3DS Holders

nintendo_3ds_xl_blackAlways wanted to connect to the internet when you’re out and about on your Nintendo 3DS? Nintendo UK has partnered with mobile network O2 to give you just that, and have signed a deal allowing 3DS holders to connect to over 7,000 free Wi-Fi hotspots throughout the country.

From today, 3DS owners – with the latest system update – will be able to connect to Wi-Fi hotspots in places such as McDonalds, Costa Coffee, Debenhams, Pizza Hut and many others to browse, download new trailers, demos or access online gaming facilities. In just a few weeks, over 7,000 hotspots will be live throughout the UK covering public venues including the O2 arena, Twickenham and Bluewater shopping centres, as well as specific London boroughs. Speaking in support of the deal, UK marketing and PR director Shelly Pearce said the following:

“We’re always looking at ways to improve the user experience for Nintendo 3DS owners. This partnership with O2 means that gamers will now have access to all of the unique online features offered by Nintendo Zone in more locations than ever before.”

  1. Does this mean that the 3DS units will no longer be limited to three connection profiles??

As it is currently, only three wireless connection profiles can be saved….and if I want to connect to a different wireless spot, I have to delete a previously saved profile to do so.

This is the primary reason why I do not take my 3DS where ever I go. I need it to be as mobile as me. I hope they change this stupid limitation.

  2. Would be a Nintendo 3DS Internet dream if we could have satellite connection. xD Oh well, better than nothing. :)
