A retail source close to GameStop has reported that the store will be allegedly recalling all their Wii U basic sets one week after E3, according to Kotaku. The news comes after a NeoGAF user received an email at work saying that all Wii U basic sets will be recalled, which leads us to ask whether Nintendo has finally dropped the ball on the 8gb hardware?
Kotaku’s source has revealed that all new and unopened Wii U basic packages are to be recalled on June 18. GameStop has been contacted for an official comment but have yet to respond. The official statement is as follows:
“Nintendo Wii U Basic Recall – Two Week Preparation On Tuesday, 6/18, all stores will need to return all new/unopened Wii U Basic (020359). .. Stores that have 10 or more in stock will receive shipping cartons from the [distribution center]. .. All other stores will need to save shipping cartons for this recall.”
So this means, Nintendo has yet to announce a new wii u console update over 32gb?
8GB of memory was a bad Idea in the first place.
Totally! What where they thinking?
That people can buy an external hard drive that is a much better idea.
hope the next one has a 100GB
And the 4GB Xbox 360 Slim?
…💋
Wii U is shit , they should just discontinue the whole thing before it gets worse for Nintendo. This system is an embarrassment.
dang man, make up your mind, theres times where you seem excited for the wii u and then theres time like this. I dont care if you love it or hate it, just choose one.
I have mixed feelings about it. i was once was excited for the Wii U mainly because of its 1st party titles. Look what we got? inferior ports, inferior hardware, no 1st party games other than shitendo land and a rehashed mario and a cheap ass controller which has a build quality of a potato. What is there to be excited about now?
…E3?
X? SMT x FE? Yarn Yoshi? Zelda U? Smash Bros.? 3D Mario? Mario Kart U? The three Sonics? Retro’s secret project? Bayonetta 2? More third party support?
Oh, and the hardware is currently inferior to PCs, as the PS4 and Xbox One aren’t out yet. When they are, that’ll change, but until then saying the Wii U has inferior hardware to anything but PCs is blatant fanboyism.
That must be a really well built potato! :O
trolls exist , they steal your socks but only the left ones , what’s with that

I clearly remember saying that the 8GB model was a terrible idea. They couldn’t of approached the 2 SKU’s any worse.
They made it so the only way you can have a white Wiiu is that you buy a package that offers considerably less value for money.
They should of just had White and Black 32GB for $299 . Or with Nintendo land for $350 or something like that….
Lol 8GB memory was a complete joke. That turned off many people from buying a Wii U. hell even 32GB isn’t enough. 64GB – 150GB would be acceptable
True , but remember it is flash memory…. The Wiiu is ,meant to have an external HDD. The Flash is only to satisfy basic functionality.
But yeh as I was saying , the White Wiiu basic was a horrible choice , who ever came up with that needs a slap.
Here’s what they should of done (in american dollars)
White Wiiu with Nintendo land 32GB – $350
Black Wiiu with NIntendo land 32GB -$350
Black ZombiU bundle with Pro controller 32GB – $380
But instead they messed it up.
That makes too much sense! Does not compute!
lol i buy disc so? acceptable for what? 4mb saving data? kids gonna kid all day day lung~
They’ll convert these to 32GB…
That’s what I am thinking. Just make Deluxe sets in either white or black.
And 64Gb.
I don’t really understand the problem with it. I got the basic set because I wasn’t interested in Nintendo Land at first and never regretted it. External HDDs are so cheap that it was logical to have such a low memory.
Uhhh… guys the basic set was meant for casual families that already have a wii and won’t need, or care about, that much storage. ->good idea.
I think they should have left 4 to 8 gb flash memory completely for system,
And put a small replaceable 2.5″ SSD drive. Or HDD, if SSD was too expensive.
But anyways, I’m happy with my Wii U.
Hmm, it makes me wonder what they’re going to use to substitute the 8GB model now.
Simple, a Wii with its own gamepad. to confuse consumers even more.
Genius! We can call it the Wii 2 U!
By the way, for anymore trolls,

The same thing happened to the PS3 in the same amount of time.
8GB seemed like a bad idea from the very start.
I wouldn’t mind a new model with a bigger harddrive being introduced during E3, id buy that one instead, but im not gona cry about it if they dont, would just be easier
Honestly I think the deal breaker was the value with the “deluxe”. You got a game, charging cradles, and the deluxe digital promotion. I don’t think Nintendo realizes it’s best when their hardware comes with a game of some kind. A $60 game for $50 plus all the other bonuses? It didn’t make any logical sense to get basic.
I don’t see what is so bad about the 8gb system when you can pick up a 16gb flash drive for $15. And who wants Nintendo land?

Oh man. I’m gonna get the deluxe set anyways because 8 gigs really it’s stupid. I don’t like this cause it won’t be good for nintendo
