Nintendo ‘Risks Losing An Entire Generation Unless It Brings IPs To Other Platforms’

newsupermariobroswii4

Games industry veteran Ian Livingstone has told attendees at Bristol Games Hub that he believes that Nintendo risks losing an entire generation unless they decide to bring their franchises to other platforms. It’s already well documented that consumers are spending more on smartphone and tablet games than on traditional handheld games. Livingstone thinks it’s time for Nintendo to embrace this and bring their games to the mobile space.

“Nintendo should have their IP on every platform. Otherwise a whole generation of young people will miss out on their games.”

      1. Correction to this guy – An entire generation of idiots risk missing out on Nintendo’s IP unless they buy Nintendo platforms.

This guy can suck a wet one.

                  1. Exactly, Eric! And i’ve had one too many drinks today xD so i’m bound to type some stupid things on the internet!

        1. If they put mario in other console they’ll have money to buy a country. Oh god please stop them

        2. Nintendo entering mobile gaming could boost their profits by a lot though. With smart phones getting ever smarter, soon they’ll be outperforming handheld game devices. It would be a wise decision to capture the market now before it’s too late, and sony or something has it by the balls.

    1. this is the whole purpose of knocking nintendo now, everyone wants them 3rd party, and they would sell phenomoly if they did, everyone who knocks them would buy their games, but thats the point… dont knock them support the system and 3rd parties would have no choice but to support it.

      1. If people want them to be like that then Nintendo would just make their games on other consoles cost a lot to the point it makes the buyers go to the system.

    2. Umm…No… They are missing it out on purpose cuz they rather be playing CoD on 360, Nintendo doesnt come to you little kids, if you want Nintendo go and get their platform

      1. Point being Nintendo created these franchises for the purpose of being on THEIR consoles. Kind of hard to think with that erection you got, huh?

      1. This guy who’s responsible for creating Warhammer (a series that I haven’t seen on a Nintendo platform) knows very little considering he’s not responsible for creating ANY videogame series anybody can think of.

    1. The point he was trying to make was that kids won’t know to want Nintendo games because they are playing on mobiles.

      1. Hmmmm, let’s see, Metroid, Pikmin, F-Zero, Star Fox. Please, I could continue if you want? You are blind as a retarded monkey on steroids. I forgot to name the two you were probably thinking of. How many does Microsoft have altogether? Perhaps 2. Good day to you, sir.

  1. They’re spending more on smartphone games because all the ones that sell well are only 0.99 or free but with microtransactions. It’s not a big deal, and a smartphone can’t do what a 3DS or a Vita can do.

    1. Exactly! They can’t. I don’t think why people insist in this crap. Nintendo is Fine!!! They just need games and they will sell. 3DS is stable now. This year, is for WiiU to gain attention with the games nintendo plan to release.

    2. SherlockWillFightBilbo

Exactly. And stupid teenagers spend $1 at a time on mobile apps instead of $50-$60 at a time on actual games. Even if every smartphone user (a LOT of people) spent JUST $1 on a microtransaction, it would still show up as more money than regular games.
Part of the reason is the teenagers don’t actually see the money leave their pockets. Also, a lot of their phone bills get paid by their parents. If they tried getting their parents to pay for a $60 game, they’d get laughed at.
And most teenage girls are more interested in silly apps instead of actual video games.

      1. Agreed, when fall arrives we’ll laugh at this entire post. I’m planning on buying 3 or more games for the wii u for the games ALREADY announced. It’s blasphemy that people think Nintendo isn’t a worthy opponent to Sony or Microsoft. In which, Microsoft barely has any IPs to put on other platforms. They aren’t worth getting an Xbox anyways.

    1. But if the only things worthwhile on the system are those few IP’s you want, that’s a colossal waste of your money.

  2. I can’t disagree with this more. Im aware that tablet gaming is popular, but that is because of the short cheap games. Nintendo would lose way more customers if they catered to the tablet market, I believe.

Its cheaper to go out and buy a 3DS than a new (or even somewhat old) iPad, and the 3DS has more content.

    1. The 3DS has more content? Ummmm …. no.

I totally agree with the assessment in this article. My boys play Nintendo games, but they are increasingly relegated to the shelf as Minecraft, Angry Birds, and dozens of other engaging games become easier for them to play everywhere.

      1. Minecraft and Angry birds have nothing to do with each other besides being interactive pieces of media. Not sure why you compared the two. Minecraft is a lot more of a deeper game than what Angry birds is so if you’re trying to make the comparison that they’re trading bigger games for smaller ones you’re stumbling already as Minecraft is more of a PC title and even on iOS its deeper than most of the games on there and you’re also saying that your kids have too small of an attention span for something meaningful and throught provoking and would rather play smaller games. In Which case congrats.

Also I don’t know how anything you said has anything to do with which platform has more content. Sure iOS has more apps, but how often do you find something really substantial? iOS games are fine, if you have the attention span of a goldfish that is.

    2. I can guarantee the 3DS doesn’t have more content as the app store is just overflowing with crap but that’s not a bad thing though. The 3DS has more engaging content would be a better statement. When I had an ipod I never played a game for more than 10 min on it.

Nothing but short and shallow experiences to be found.

  3. Nintendo fans will obviously disagree, but it actually kind of makes sense. Not saying they should do this, they shouldn’t. But what he saying is that a lot of kids these days are growing up on COD and Nintendo has a smaller older audience now compared to what they have now with people who grew on (S)NES.

    1. No it doesn’t makes any sense… They will lose if they do exactly this. Why would people buy a Nintendo system when it has no exclusive games? Why would people buy a Nintendo system if even half of their games are on ios?

Only thing they could do is create more stuff like the pokedesk. Or some sort of app with handy tips and secret stuff in their games and then make money from the ads. And also, they are already “embracing” smartphones by bringing stuff like Pokedeks and Miiverse to smartphones.

      1. Isn’t what the point of what he said was, he is clearly saying Nintendo should drop consoles and handhelds. Why would they simultaneously release games on different platforms that is just dumb. He says this because many people didn’t grow up on Nintendo games during Wii and likely Wii U so unlike people who grew up with the SNES and NES. Kids who grew up on COD probably won’t buy Nintendo games in 20 years.

    2. I’ve yet to meet a kid that has never played a nintendo games. And I teach kids in elementary school to make really small games (part time)

    3. Let me get this right. First of all according to the haters, Nintendo is for kids. Now all of a sudden Nintendo haters want to take back what they said by assuming Nintendo’s only audience are people who grew up on NES. Ignoring that Wii and 3DS were hits while COD was around. Haters need to figure out what side of the fence to stay on.

      1. First of all, I’m not a hater. If you were smart enough to read my first post. I said they shouldn’t do this. I own a Wii U and a 3DS XL and 90% of my gaming library consists of Nintendo games. Wii was a hit, but it wasn’t played for long and was more of a fad. I don’t think many kids will remember playing the Wii as much as some of us here remember playing the N64 or Gamecube. 3DS is a great system, but the thing is with so much competition in the market people feel as if Nintendo is just for kids and grow out of that phase which is why I think the principle of what this guy thinks is some what correct, however I don’t agree with what he thinks Nintendo should do.

  4. Phone gaming doesn’t count as gaming lol, yes it’s cool to have little apps on your phone for entertainment but everyone will always turn to dedicated gaming machines for real gaming. Saw a kid in a pram yesterday with a tablet, just absolutely ridiculous honestly. I love that when you register a game with nintendo now and do the little survey, there is a question “when have you last played a game in your household? (mobile phone gaming doesn’t count)”

    1. Let me also get this right. According to haters, Wii U will fail because it is not as powerful as the PS4. Since when did mobile games put out PC graphics?

  5. No that is a ridiculous statement! Every platform has exclusives and part of what makes Nintendo great is the way they use the hardware for a unique experience which would not be possible on other platforms!

  6. Hold on here… you’re telling me more people have phones than 3DS’s? No way?!?!?!? And THEN you’re going to say that people with said device will more likely pay 99 cets as opposed to $40? MY GOD WHAT A REVALATION

    1. Yeh. Nintendo needs to make button-less games for 99p ….. that will help them , right *facepalm*

      *plays Fire emblem awakening*

  7. Sony should bring it’s games to the Wii U and Xbox One because it risks losing an entire generation of gamers.
Does that make sense? But ofc when we apply that flawed logic to Nintendo, it suddenly becomes viable?

          1. Nintendo Commander

            Well obviously…

Probably along the lines of the Sonyan’s worst creation, Wonderbook…

Have they even sold one of those at all?…

      1. “Vastly under-selling”
Compared to what? Systems that have been out for years longer?
You have nothing valid to compare it to until the PS4 and One launch and are into their first four months, so you have no point here.

          1. Still selling more than what the PS3 and 360 sold at that point in their lifetimes. So your point is…?

  8. People already make fun of SquareEnix for making the new deus ex for tablets.

Nintendo doing tablet games would be a trolls dream

    1. “Hey guys, i cant wait for Infamous and the Halo on the WiiU, otherwise, they’d loose their fans base”.

Sony’s IP’s never really sell well despite the fact they’re, generally, really good.

Too many cheap mother fuckers, in the publishers, community and media, it’s a joke, it’s all about “durrrrr profit, lets put Deus Ex on a FUCKING TABLET” -__-

  9. FoolyCoolyUpInHere

Ehh, while I think this is a bit stupid, I will say, it wouldn’t necessarily be a bad idea for them to put out a few of their classic titles on mobile, just to reach out. I wouldn’t put out that many games, but just a small collection. Original Mario Bros, one of the old gameboy/color zelda games, a kirby and maybe f-zero. A Nintendo Classics collection would do pretty well for some attention, so that’d probably be enough. Throw in some Wii U and 3DS adds in menus and at end screens, or have demos that end with “For the full experience and more great titles, you can find this game on the Nintendo 3DS handheld game console” or something to that effect

    1. Doing that would make people think that they dont need a 3ds in the first place einstein. You give them a game on ios and then people will not buy Nintendo hardware never cause they think they will be avalible on phones.

      1. I’m not saying put all their games on. I’m saying take a handful of classics to garner some attention. They don’t even have to be full games, just basically demo versions to promote their games and systems. Best to use just classics, have the first world of the original Mario and after completing the first level have an add for the Wii U and 3DS. That’s why I said this is a stupid idea though, cause it’s difficult to judge how people would react and could cause people to not even bother with getting a Nintendo console. That’s why I say to use classics and the such. Use old games that have new entries out to direct people who liked them to the new games and promote them. But don’t put that many out. They can’t risk drowning themselves out. That’s the issue, but it would also help be a source of extra revenue which would be helpful. Gamefreak released a pokedex app, or at least they did in japan, I never get those but maybe you know if it got released in the west. But point is, if they can get some kind of supplementary apps out or use (very few) classic games to promote the new entries and get them money, whereas regular adds would just cost them money. It’s risky though, so they may not want to do that because of what you said. Then again, Nintendo games have come a long way since the NES days. And hell, the 3DS’s ambassador program got me into fire emblem, and got me to check out more metroid and kirby games besides the very few I’ve had, so that free program got me to look into more, so maybe this could work the same way…maybe

    2. SherlockWillFightBilbo

On one hand, people emulate mainly just Nintendo’s games for their phones, so Nintendo could POSSIBLY make some money by the people who would pay legally. But most would just emulate.
On the other hand, it would indeed give the impression that there is no reason to buy the 3DS or Wii U and/or the 3DS and Wii U are only full of retro games.

      1. Well the Wii U has future games coming. I’m not saying put everything on it. I actually discourage that. But just a handful of entries. I’d say no more than a half dozen. If people were to realize they had an interest in some of these games it may get them to buy in. Take maybe 5 of the games released in the 3DS ambassador program and bundle them into a Nintendo Classics deal, and have trailers for the newest entries and adds for the Wii U and 3DS on the main menu and game end screens. I don’t think that’d work too badly to deter anyone from the systems, though it may slightly cut into some VC sales, though people who already have them on VC would probably buy them again, so it’d probably balance out, maybe even work in their favor for extra profits. Then again, no way to tell until they did it. It’d be a very delicate situation, but at the very least, I don’t think re-releasing a few VC games would really hurt them.

        1. SherlockWillFightBilbo

That’s a good point, but Nintendo would have to stress the difference of a mobile port and their consoles in their ads. Their ads would need to be really good, and let’s be honest, they’re not good at ads xD
It might work well, but like you said, there’s no way to know until they try it.

    3. Ugh, so many people jumping to conclusions… OKAY EVERYONE, I DID NOT SAY PUT ALL THEIR GAMES ON MOBILE. I DID NOT SAY TABLETS ARE THE FUTURE. I DID NOT SAY NINTENDO SHOULD GO MULTI-PLATFORM. I’m saying that they COULD do this as a marketing plan. Like hell I’d want to go play my 3DS games on iOS. I already know Iwata and all them have said that they won’t go multiplat or mobile. I’m simply saying how it could work as a promotion for their hardware and current system’s games and boost sales…potentially. God so many of you are such overdramatic fanboys. I go hard for Zelda, Smash Bros and Xenoblade, but my God, get your heads out of your asses. Nintendo’s done sh*t for advertising lately and this is an available option for them to take. I don’t think it would necessarily work, but I’m sure if you guys are anywhere near the level of hardcore Nintendo fans you seems to be you’d buy them all up again and again wherever they release, so really Nintendo doesn’t have much, if anything, to lose by re-releasing some old games on mobile. Hell, they’d probably make a fortune off selling their classics to you guys again. And Microsoft could only do this with maybe the first Halo, which is already on computers, and Sony with a handful of their PS1 games, which the only ones that come to mind were exclusive third party games like FFVII, so this is pretty much something that only Nintendo could do since it has classic games that aren’t even made in the same style as they originally were anymore. Mario went 3D aside from the NSMB series, Metroid does first and third person shooter, Zelda is mostly 3D and the 2Ds are stylized completely different from the original entries (which the second does the never returned to side-scrolling). If you think this takes away from new entry sales you’re pretty dim. As a measure of pride, I would say don’t do this, you don’t need to and don’t want people to think you’re even considering it, it worsens consumer confidence, but it definitely could make them money, at least in the short term. It’s business and Nintendo is a business. They don’t need to do this, they won’t do this, but it’s available. Now quit your whining and get over yourselves. Go play a game. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, Lego City, Fire Emblem Awakening, Pandora’s Tower, Luigi’s Mansion 2, whatever. They all came out relatively recently so you should have something better to do than this. I’m done here, later

  10. Nintendo responded to this ass-hat’s assertions before he even said them!XD

    Quote:

    No surrender

“This is absolutely not under consideration,” Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata said of possible smartphone development back in September 2011.

“If we did this, Nintendo would cease to be Nintendo. Having a hardware development team in-house is a major strength. It’s the duty of management to make use of those strengths.”

This was a stance backed up at the time by Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime.

“The concept of having our core franchises on other systems really flies in the face of what we believe in, and that’s because, by understanding the hardware, that’s how we’re able to bring these great experiences forward,” he concluded.

    :Unquote.

  11. And this is why the industry is goin for a full speed crash and there are people who thinks this guy is smart.

    1. If the Xbox One wins this generation, the 3rd video game crash will be inevitable. No one will be able to save it this time. Angry birds and gay app games everywhere!!! Ohh the horror!!!

      1. The industry is in hands of retards. I prefer Nintendo to go handheld only than copy what stupid people do.

  12. HAHAHAHAHAHA so this guy just said kids dont play Nintendo systems? So how exactly can Nintendo be a kiddy console if we dont have kids playing? Cause they are all on COD on PSN and XBL. What a fucking ape. Nintendo going multiplat is as likely as the end of the world last year. It aint happening and it doesnt need to happen. How do you win a generation if the competition has your games? That makes it so they also win?

  13. Umm what generation r they risking losing? Not my 6yr old. He has nearly 200+ hours on mh3u for wii u. My son kinda actually hates the ps3 n xbox.

If ppl wanna play nintendo games buy the Damn system n stfu. Nintendo is imo one of the greatest console makers out there.

If parents would rather spend 1000s of bux on ipads n crap, then blame them. Only reason Im contemplating an ipad for my son is for learning apps. Not games.

Preferably i would rather pay 350+tax for anoher wii u

    1. Ugh stupid thing. Need to finish

I would rather pay 350+ tax for another wii u than 500+ tax for an ipad any day tho.

Some rich ppl r actually stupid.

    2. My 6 years old nephew plays everything i play and has his role model i show him the best game for his age that i enjoy too. No use in playing gta if he cant enjoy it too.

  14. This guy just clearly grew up with an xbox or something and wishes he had a chance to play Nintendo games too lol. Nintendo is doing just fine, thank you, and will continue to do so. If their IPs ever go to mobile, etc, it won’t happen for MANY years.

  15. i feel sorry for nintendo, all this bashing they’ve been getting by not only trolls but the media as well, nintendo have stood on their own 2 feet for a very long time so I think they know what they are doing

  16. Strategically impeccable marketing is key to any business’ future.

BUT…. that doesn’t obviate thorough and logical decision making when it comes to title selection…

Nor should it obviate the necessary implementation of technically convenient factors in your consoles…. I mean, the 8GB unit was a total disaster EVEN ON PAPER…! And the handheld’s inability to save more than 3 wireless profiles???? WTF are YOU guys thinking???

I have to believe that Nintendo has, within their corp HQ, moles that work for Sony incognito. Seriously.

  17. Nintendo Commander

This pathetic unevolved creature has no idea who its talking to…

Almighty Commander Iwata and the rest of High Command already stated firmly that we will not do such a thing not now, not then and not ever!

As posted by fellow Mr Sellers…

This one does not comprehend the supreme power of the holy N and when it does, he will either join the cause of the one and only true gaming Empire or he will fall with the abominations called the Xbots…

    1. Who the fuck are you? You are the most annoying person on this website. Please calm down here. This is video game news for a nintendo console, not the first church of nintendo with the crusades on microsoft and sony. You are the kind of person I am ashamed to be grouped with as a gamer.

      1. Just because he likes a company over others? It is YOU who should be ashamed of yourself. Since when is it illegal to do what he’s doing? I’d game with him over you any day.

  18. It’s almost as though he’s, very stupidly, wanting Nintendo to run Nintendo themselves out of the console making business.

  19. Thenintendowatcher

wait how many kids missed the wii? none of them, how many missed the ds? hardly any! how many have a 3ds? Tons. how many want or have a wii u? many, give it until Christmas, if the wii u hasn’t jumped in sales after all the i.p’s and sales then call it dead and move on, but right now as it stands, no moving it to other platforms would be stupid!

    1. Agreed, but give Nintendo credit. They’ve been in the industry longer than both Sony and Microsoft. If they didn’t know what they were doing, they would be gone by now…

  20. Apparently a whole generation of people lack the ability to go to the store and purchase a Nintendo console. Apparently Sony and Microsoft IPs are available on all devices. And apparently Nintendo must conform it’s company business model to that drawn up by idiots.

However what’s more idiotic is the fact that this was even posted to begin with.

  21. Well, then, Nintendo better start reminding the young generation that their systems are what they should get. And for everybody who’s saying that the kids SHOULD get a Nintendo system to play Nintendo games, let me remind you that when it comes to consumers, the word “should” does not exist. And every time you tell them what they SHOULD do will only turn them off even more from Nintendo. So, yeah, keep up with your counterintuitive condescensions.

  22. Little kids probably know Angry Birds better than they know Mario. If Mario were on iOS, this might not be the case. But what would the game be like? It wouldn’t really work that well as a platformer without buttons.

  23. This unmanly guy was looking at the current WiiU sales and immediately typed: ”hurr durr, Nintendo is going 3rd Party hurr durr”. The funny thing is, everybody is is always forgetting that Ninty has their Handhelds, which are doing great. IF they stopped making consoles, they would go handheld-only anyway. Another thing is, and this time I blame Nintendo, nobody wants to buy a WiiU because atm its a very bad console, so people want Ninty’s games on other consoles. It’s Nintendo’s job to make the WiiU appealing and they failed for half of the WiiU’s first year…Once the big hitters arrive, the WiiU will sell decently well, but with their meagre 3rd Party support to fill out droughts and to appeal to as many people as possible , this really is a difficult task. That’s what Nintendo has to do imo….No droughts, great exclusives, cheapest price point and boom, they win this upcoming generation.

    1. I hope they pull it off, but the 3ds was a slow starter and it’s going from strength to strength now so hopefully they do the same with the WiiU. I’ll say one thing for Nintendo, they don’t really need a massive amount of 3rd party support, it’s not what really changed the 3ds or previous gens like Wii. And they are great innovators I mean people laughed at Wii for being a gimmick but then Xbox brought Kinect and Sony brought move. Same again for WiiU tablet pad thing now smart glass…

    2. That’s because the console market has bigger games and generally has more to analyze and report on in terms of the industry. Handheld’s generally are almost ignored in the large scale industry.

      1. I don’t personally intend on getting a next gen console what with xbone being horrific, WiiU not quite getting there and not much known from sony. Spose e3 is in a few days but I might just stick to handhelds and the pc.

    3. The console itself is not a bad one, but the amount of games that came out recently is unacceptable.

    4. Nintendo Commander

But on the other hand, haven’t you always blamed and bashed our Empire?…

Your new disguise doesn’t work CPU Soldier Bill…

Or was your previous name too unmanly?…

  24. What they mean is that a bunch of spoiled brats may miss out on Nintendo games because they only play on Xbox/Playstation because they wanna play with the big hardcore gamers… OOOH!

    1. No mention in the statement of sony and microsoft also putting games on smartphones. I mean, clearly they should release Halo on a smartphone with 20 fps and shit controls or they will miss a generation…

  25. ahahahahaha fuck you,
nintendo games will always be exclusives.. and that’s good
all these xbox, etc. gamers.. flaming nintendo and calling their games “childish”, they would be all over them
unfortunately for them.. you’ll never have access to these games and I LOVE IT
    <3

  26. Nintendo Commander

We all know that the only reason the majority of these western fools want s for oue Empire to fall so that they can gain more money when both the Xbots and Sonyans takes over the market when the few remaining potential traitors switch over to either if that ever happened…

Obviously a plot conducted by Xbox fanatics and the Electrons…

  27. thenintendoreviewer

For the hundredth time, Nintendo is NOT going third party. If people want to play Nintendo IPs the simple solution is to buy Nintendo consoles.

  28. Mobile games are not console games. How many people are sitting in their home and weighing the choice to play a console game versus a mobile game? Should I take a drive in my Ferrari or walk around the block holding a Hot Wheel?

  29. Moving their IP to other platforms will be the death of Nintendo. Smartphone app games have an attention span of a 5 year old.

You have no idea how many games I churn from installing to removing because i played a few mins of it and move on to the next.

And how is Nintendo to survive with .99 cent purchases and give us quality games?

  30. The new generation doesn’t have the attention span for angry birds, much less an actual game.

    1. The way to increase their attention span is to actually give them more engaging longer games, not take them away and replace them with mind numbing ones.

  31. More like that generation of kids will miss out on Nintendo IPs. Nintendo should stay on it’s own consoles. Nintendo doesn’t care about “reaching an age group.” Nintendo cares about those who buy their products! :D 💋

  32. This guy should know any better than risking 1st party games to other console means that nobody will buy a Nintendo system for it… No fucking way Nintendo would do that…

  33. thats garbage we do not want nintendo games on other systems ok what about xbox and sony there games are their own they are not putting it on nintendo are they so just go and buy a wii u ok dont be whiner ok

  34. I can not imagine playing any Nintendo fast action games by smearing the glass of smartphone with my finger. Just no. Physically impossible.

  35. Why do these young people have smartphones and tablets? Seriously, who is buying a Galaxy S III for their 8-year-old?

  36. ““Nintendo should have their IP on every platform. Otherwise a whole generation of young people will miss out on their games.”

Doesn’t the same apply to xbox1 and ps4?

  37. thats a bucnh of bullshit!!!!!! their sales are going to go up and seriously fucking tablets!!!!! nontendos way to core to go down to that shitty path and it wold hurt them!!!!!!

  38. Nintendo would probably drop out of the video game industry before they would make games on other non-Nintendo platforms. I don’t see that ever happening. Nintendo is a proud company and they have always stood by their strict beliefs and guidelines.

  39. I have many issues with this article but I’m going to list my main issues!

    1. How on earth would that benefit Nintendo in any shape or form? You do realize that both of their hardware and software are kind of the massive backbone of the company? I’m pretty sure Nintendo won’t do as well on any Microsoft/Sony platform and I highly doubt it’s going to do well on pcs, so why would smartphones work?

    2. Wouldn’t it make more sense if Nintendo brought more indie developers and more third party support because that helps them? You know what they are kinda doing now with the WiiU and 3ds?

    3. Why is it always Nintendo that has to go third party? Why not Microsoft? Or Sony?

  40. AND SO IT CONTINUES NINTENDO ARE IN FACT FROM 1980’S TO TODAY DOOMED

LOL IDIOTS DD YOU EVE STOP TO THINK OTHER PLATFORMS DONT HAVE 3D NO GLASSES DUAL SCRENED HANDHELDS

OR WII REMOTES, WII REMOTE PLUS,GAMEPAD,BALANCE BOARD ETC

IM LOOKING FORWARD TO WII SPORTS U ON PC LOL WHO THINKS THIS SHITE UP

  41. nintendo sould disapear in a cloud of smoke so us IDIOTS in the DERP INDUSTRY can be left alone to sell CRAP

  42. that would kill nintendo and there i.p’s if that ever happens. games on a phones suck games on tablets suck. a tablet is nothing but a pc for dummies

  43. Ah no, if they do that they’ll doom Wii U.
The only reason Nintendo consoles sell is because they have an edge, anyone can play stupid shooters on any console, but if you want Mario or Zelda, YOU NEED A NINTENDO CONSOLE, and that’s how they move units.
Maybe Nintendo could make a new series to put on all consoles, or have their more indie developers do that, but exporting their major franchises to other consoles would be idiotic.

  44. Well it’s novel you have to give him that, but they could always buy a Nintendo console, and perhaps he;s not a parent, but kids living a life on a smartphone – Not good! Working at Eidos is clearly why he cannot see that Smartphone gaming – Not good! And maybe he was to busy with his own amazing sales figure to realise just how well Nintendos did in the last generation.

  45. Pandora's Last Chronicles

Don’t stretch this annoying topic till eternity, it’s as simple as 1+1=2 .. Nintendo releasing its games in other platforms = Suicidal ideation with a plan.. We all know what makes Nintendo special and unique so this move( which Nintendo won’t even think of doing) will basically destroy all it’s legacy. Whoever thinks this idea is correct is either one of two, either he/she is a person with an IQ of <40 or he/she is jealous that Nintendo games isn't released into his/her precious console. Finally who the fuck compares Mobile garbage with video games industry ?

  46. I have read many stories like this before and all I can say is that other companies are trying to make Nintendo stop producing hardware, even when Nintendo is fine as they are right now. It doesn’t make sense to stop selling something that is actually profiting and go a route that isn’t recommended. If a person wants Nintendo games, then they buy a Nintendo system.

    1. I honestly think other companies are afraid of Nintendo, otherwise they wouldn’t pay them any mind.

  47. Everyone needs to get off their fucking cell phones anyways. Also no, Nintendos SOFTWARE goes with its HARDWARE.

    1. I see plenty of them and mine isn’t one of them. What have you got to say besides “bullshit” yourself? Surely nothing relevant or feasible. Get over yourself.

  48. get a grip sony and ms casual fans

So the gamepad the wii remote and the wm plus and the balance board and the zapper zapper u are all cross platform compatable

Lol think before you speak LOL

  49. Pingback: “Nintendo se arriesga a perder en esta generación si no trae sus IP’s a otras plataformas” | nd-games.com

  50. Um no this is a terrible idea. Nintendo’s games should remain on their own systems. That’s what keeps Nintendo’s systems alive and so exotic is because it’s the only place you can get the best quality software. Plus it’s their own fucking games they can do whatever the hell they want with them. It’s because of Nintendo keeping their software to themselves that I always go out and buy their systems day one because I know that the software will be coming down the road. So to go along with this, I think this video is perfect: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lITBGjNEp08

  51. I’m so sick of all these morons saying Nintendo should become a 3rd party publisher, it’s ridiculous.

Let’s get one thing straight right off: Gaming on phones and tablets isn’t gaming, it’s a distraction for people who are addicted to text messaging, it’s something to pass time while they obsessively wait for replies to texts and check people’s FB and Twitter updates. That’s why stuff like Angry Birds is so popular, it doesn’t matter that it’s barely a game, as it’s just something to do between texts.

Nintendo makes REAL GAMES. They are a company that has existed since the 1800’s and has been making video games and video game hardware for over 30 years, quite successfully at that. All of a sudden they’re supposed to just change their business model because iOS and Android smartphones are popular? Things like smartphones aren’t going away, but real gaming isn’t moving to the phone/tablet space, the quality of titles and more importantly, the proper controls, just aren’t there, and the marketplace for that industry doesn’t promote high quality titles nor proper control, it promotes cheap, quick fix games for the aforementioned text messaging addicts.

How would someone ever complete the original Super Mario Bros. on a phone? You literally wouldn’t have good enough controls to do it, plain and simple, and that’s just SMB, a very basic game. They would have to make the games incredibly easy for the iOS/Android market, like Cave did with their shooter games such as the Donpachi series. Those titles are crazy hard and require precision controls to play properly, but their mobile counterparts have been made into kitten versions of the originals to accommodate the awful touch controls.

Phone/tablet gaming is a pop culture fad, it’s something that’s really popular right now, and won’t go away, but it won’t stay at it’s current heights. Like all other pop culture fads it’ll settle back down and all these people calling for Ninty to start pushing their titles in the phone/tablet space will quiet down. Of course you can’t explain all this to them as they are currently the equivalent of Justin Bieber fans. You try to tell them that “yeah, he’s really popular right now, but you won’t be listening to him in 5-10 years” but they won’t hear it. You can point out the rise and fall of New Kids On The Block, Backstreet Boys, Nsync, and the countless others like them, but they won’t hear it, they CAN’T hear it, they’re too wrapped up in the ‘pop culture phenomena’ of it all. Pop music doesn’t go away but what’s big in that world always changes and fluctuates, that’s the nature of it. People grow up and step back from the stuff that was just massive, realizing that it was never as good as they thought it was at the time. Once again, Nintendo has been making games and hardware for thirty years….

  52. the day that happens is the day nintendo loses the generation.

It’s also the day i stop playing videogames

  53. There is some logic to what Ian is saying. Nintendo should take advantage of the mobile market, get a few smaller IP on there, raise awareness of Nintendo’s main products, and encourage them towards their own consoles. It makes sense. Otherwise Nintendo will miss out on an entire generation of gamers that won’t normally buy a console.

It’s clear that he isn’t suggesting that Nintendo port games to rival consoles though. That would be suicide for their hardware business.

  54. Never, if people want th play Nintendo games then they can buy Nintendo platforms ffs, it’s their fault they’re missing out, not Nintendo’s!!!
