Set on Planet Gomi, A.N.N.E. is a Metroidvania-style platformer with a unique focus on open exploration. And with high levelled enemies blocking every path, you must either risk it all to be brave and bold, or venture down a less risky path in your bid to discover the forsaken Planet Gomi. You can also use your ship to move heavy physics-based objects in order to create your own platforms and access new areas, as well as your imagination to carefully stack up physics-based objects, or toss them towards enemies for excessive amounts of damage.
In an exclusive interview published by Nintendo Enthusiast, developers Gamesbymo says the Wii U version is in the works and would like to use specific Wii U hardware features – like the GamePad – to their full advantage. Here’s a portion of the interview, but you can check it out in full here:
What is A.N.N.E? What does the name mean?
“It’s the name of the little robot in the game and it is based on the Acronym ‘A.N.N.E.’ which stands for ‘Artificial Neurone Network Ensemble’. It is a more complicated way of saying A.I. It works perfectly as the name of the girl and the fact that she is a robot.”
At what stage in development is the Wii U version? Have you explored the Wii U’s unique features?
“We are just getting started on the Wii U version. My focus is currently 100% on completing the game and as I move forward with some final decisions I keep the Wii U in mind in order to take advantage of specific Wii U hardware feature like the Wii U GamePad. It is hard to give a set date for this yet, but I would really love to get the game out on the eShop before the end of 2014.”

“A.N.N.E. is a Metroidvania-style platformer”
Ugghhhh, no, fucking hate that word, “Metroidvania”, it’s just Metroid.
It would be like if people called games similar to Zelda, “Zeldasiders” becase Darksiders did something similar AFTER Zelda did it -.-
Cool!
It is almost depressing who only the Indie developers are the ones that are interested in the gamepad not only as a controller, but as a tool to develop new experiences
This game looks awesome! You all need to fund it please! I would but I don’t have a credit card…
