Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has assured investors that the company has more unannounced games coming to Wii U by 2014. Iwata informed them that Nintendo could have revealed more titles at E3 in an effort to ease owners fears about Wii U support. However, he says that the company doesn’t want to leave a long gap between announcing a game and its release due to it “lessening the impact” and allowing competitors to copy the ideas.
“New consoles have always produced better graphics, but the work required may not be related to customer satisfaction. There are more unannounced Wii U titles coming by 2014. There was more info than could be released at E3. Wanted to ease owners’ fears. Don’t want to leave a long gap between announcement/release of new game types that would lessen the impact or allow competitors to copy.”

I actually used to browse WiiUdaily but eventually realized they get news much too late in comparison to other sites. Eventually I came to the realization that every contribution seems to be from the exact same users who post in the comments. So technically if everyone moved to another site, Mynintendonews would probably be just as slow as WiiUdaily without all the help it gets. Now that’s something to think about! lol

It’s kinda hard to have a lot of third party games come out when third party developers keep saying that they don’t want to develop for the Wii U right now(EA or Ubisoft can’t remember which one) or the Wii U is not using DX11 to the extent that I want to use(Square Enix) and that’ just a couple of specific examples. Right now third party support is really scarce for Nintendo, most of them simply do not have faith in their games selling on Wii U right now so they are not producing them. Sega is bringing games but that’s because Nintendo is helping with their games. Hopefully sometime soon third party support for Wii U will be in full force.

Unfortunately there’s more to it than just paying money to a company and expecting games from them on the system. Especially when it comes to Nintendo. A lot of their budget goes to their own games, so they MUST somehow struggle to gain third party trust and strengthen bonds with them. That’s what Nintendo is aiming at with this generation. It all comes in time and patience. We have gotten SEGA’s full support, Ubisoft still believes in us. Nintendo just needs to bring it out. Don’t be mad.

Nintendo released Nintendoland in hopes of it copying Wii Sports success(which it did not) and NSMBU because Mario sells. Nintendo is releasing DK, 3D Mario, etc. to drive system sales. Like you said, Metroid doesn’t sell as well as those other titles so we have to wait until there is a larger install base before they release it. I am sure they are working on either Star Fox or Metroid right now for a future release probably next Christmas. 💋

That’s one thing I like about how Nintendo announces their games. *Usually,* and there are some exceptions (looking at you Skyward Sword), they release games in a timely fashion after they’re announced. I actually like it better that way.

Any prediction on when we will see Kingdom Hearts III considering FFXV’s lengthy development? I think there are quite a bit of variables in the future that may delay it longer than what people think.
Well, a different team is working on KH III than the one working on FF XV. I don’t think we will have to wait as long for KH III as we do Versus XIII/FF XV.
How long? I’m not completely sure. Kingdom Hearts 3 *just* started development and FF XV started its next-gen development transition fairly recently. The Xbox One and PS4 are supposed to be fairly easy to develop for, I hear more about the PS4 being easy to develop for and that’s the lead development platform….
So, I think we’ll finally see both games within 3 years. At least a Japanese release within 3 years. So… add a couple of months for localization outside of Japan.

The statement is a little vague and poorly translated. For instance, “by 2014” can either be within the next 5 months or by the end of 2014. I certainly hope the former, in which case would mean marketing the products now is the best course of action.
They really need to step up their marketing much like Sony or Microsoft so more consumers are aware of not only the console, but also the games that are coming out.

Well, I wouldn’t say i’m embarrassed. I mean I know the games i’m waiting for will come and they will be great just like I expect from Nintendo. But i’m never getting a console at launch again unless there’s a lot more games with definitive release dates.

Nintendo needs to improve their advertising. Sony is pretty good at that. They aired a commercial for The Last of Us during a Walking Dead episode. If that isn’t common sense, I don’t know what is.
They’ll probably announce them in July since they do a Nintendo Direct every month!
I just want to know more about the third Sonic Wii U game, which is implied to be behind Sumo Digital. I hope it’s a fighter instead of a third racing game (I want something new for a change).

Oh Iwata, I don’t think they can copy Mario, Zelda and Metroid games because Ninty owns the IP’s if that is what’s coming in 2014…
what exactly is that statement saying though? that we will see more unannounced titles released by the end of the year?
or that they will announce more titles before 2014; titles that may not necessarily be released in 2013?
Thing people need to remember is that there are always games in development. Just because the rest of 2013 and the start of 2014 are mostly going to be Nintendo titles for us, that doesn’t mean third party support will never come. As I’m typing this, countless projects are happening at countless studios across the world. And you can bet we’ll be seeing some of them on Wii U.
From the sound of this statement I’m predicting they have Miyamoto’s new IP and Zelda U under wraps that they are preparing to reveal at a later date. My only fear is that they say that others will “imitate” is just a lame excuse as to why they decide to keep their games so secretive. If I’m wrong about that, then Miyamoto’s new IP will be extremely innovative and hopefully a must have blockbuster hit. I also feel that with Donkey Kong Country Returns: Tropical Freeze coming to post-production, Retro will hear the voice of the gamers and have a new Metroid ready to go for around 2015/2016. I also hope Nintendo is working some deals to get more third party support for the Wii U. Perhaps having Platinum Games make the next Star Fox? But once again these are just my predictions and thoughts and maybe Nintendo will bomb again at their next Nintendo Direct. Who knows?

Anyone remember the moment when both Sony and Microsoft suddenly started going all-in on the idea of off-TV remote play, after the Wii U announced it was going to build around the idea?
Yeah, PS3 did it with the PSP, but that idea never took off and they let it fade into relative obscurity.
Until now, since they’re announcing it will be mandatory for all PS4 games.
