Team Ninja Is Still Open To Wii U Development

Team Ninja studio head Yosuke Hayashi has reiterated that the company is still open to Wii U development, despite not announcing any new titles for Nintendo’s latest platform. Hayashi says that Team Ninja would consider games for the Wii U, as long as they’re a good fit. However, he did say that the development studio has no plans to port existing titles.

“Of course, I think there are games that would be good for Wii U. So I think we need to still see what exactly those games they are and how you make a game for Wii U that is perfect for the Wii U. So if we get a chance to make a game like that, well, maybe we can think about it then. But right now we have no plans to port existing games to Wii U.”

      1. Hey man, I liked Other M too! But there were… problems with it…

        1. Voice actress. WAY too drone-y.

        2. When Samus was attacked by Ridley, she brakes down. This is because she has PDSD (Post dramatic stress disorder) BUT I feel like they took it too far… It shouldn’t have been “I’m scared of you, so I’m going to whine about it” It should have been “I’m scared of you, and that why I’m going to kick your butt.”

All in all, Other M is a pretty good game. Just, it doesn’t compare to the greatness of the other Metroid games. And I just don’t want Team Ninja to do another Metroid game. No.

          1. Really? Interesting! Though… Other M didn’t really sell well, and lots of people didn’t like it. And Prime sells amazingly and everyone loves it (and rightfully so. Each Prime game is practically perfect.)

Which means, that Metroid will probably continue to be FPS’s, and we might not see another platformed Metroid again :(

            1. Team ninja should just make a game where the girls are shaking their asses and bending over a lot for no reason instead of the fighting games, it would sell a lot more.

        1. The only thing Team Ninja did was create the game mechanics. An animation studio did the cutscenes (can’t remember their name), and Nintendo did the rest. I wish people would know this already.

          1. Huh. Still, Metroid just isn’t a series I think that Team Ninja should be apart of. Infact, I don’t think they should be part of any Nintendo series…

          2. Yeah but there were heinous problems with the game mechanics. Why on Earth was it Wii Remote only? 3D movement with a d pad? Is this PS 1? Why no Nunchuk for the love of God. And those search sections (like where you have to spot the exit to Ridley’s room in darkness or green blood on a field of grass) were pointless. They required neither skill nor puzzle solving and were just tedious and horrible and should die.

        2. PTSD doesn’t mean “I’m scared and I’m going to attack you” It means “I’m scared and I’m goong to break down because of it.” 💋

          1. True, but she fought him 4 times earlier with no problem. Plus, she didn’t seem to have a problem fighting him 2 minutes afterwards.

          2. PTSD is for the weak minded. We were all under the impression that samus was not a weak minded individual. Then again she is a woman so how strong minded could she possibly be. Nonetheless samus was supposed to be the exception.

            1. Anyway she doesn’t have PTSD. She fights Ridley after Other M, in Fusion, and she’s fine. And she didn’t ‘overcome’ the PTSD by slaughtering Ridley, it doesn’t wok that way. She’d still have the memories of her parents being killed by Ridley. If she had PTSD, seeing Ridley would still bring those memories back/\. It was just written very stupidly.

                1. Also, in the Manga she does in fact over come her disorder (when she fights him in the first game), which is why she can fight Ridley over again in the next titles… Which doesn’t make since why she has problems with it in Other M. *Sigh* I’m so confused…

                  1. The only reason I can think of is that she thought Ridley was dead and so, watching him “alive” again must have felt as if he was a demon coming back to haunt her again…

But still, they made her look way too weak for being a much better lifeform than a regular human…

                    Remember, she is part Chozo…

                    1. Indeed.

Also, am I the only one who didn’t really care for Adam? I mean, I know that they were trying to make you “collect” all your items without making you lose them (like in all the others) but still, it made me feel like Adam was just working against me the entire time… Which would have worked if he was the deletor. (Or maybe he was??? *Dun-dun-duuuun*)

They should have just said that she lost all her items at the lab-place at the beginning.

    1. I would give them another chance….I was so amused by the looks (cinematicss, graphics) and the gameplay concept, I was “Metroid” in 3D, just wished they would put the Wiimote and Nunchuck instead.
Sure the put Samus in a more sensitive side, but if they would change that, NOW people will STOP complaining about the character and MORE about the gameplay.
I am the few who didnt like the prime series, I thought it was tedious going back and forth the levels in fp view, plus I didnt feel that scence of exploring the world, unlike other Metroid games.
Im hoping for Metroid 5 on 3DS
And Metroid (Team Ninja+Nintendo) on Wii U, now with dual stick (or Wiimote and Nunchuck), 3rd person action with even more exploration and power ups!!!

      1. I think a fully third-person Metroid could be interesting! Like, behind the back perspective. And I thought Prime did a wonderful job on back-tracking and not making it tedious. But to each his own.

I think they should make another fully side-scrolling game. And have the levels look like Rayman Legends like-style levels (but maybe 3D?)

      1. You still get the girls in kitty outfits though :3 Which I guess is a win win for some as DoA actually has pretty good fighting mechanics.

        1. As long as they have actual personalities, goals and backstories (dunno if they do, I don’t know much about the plot in the games) then I don’t complain about fanservice.

  1. Away from a certain intergalactic chozo enhanced, bad as the come bounty hunter with freeze missiles and a charge beam. While you are at it stay away from STARFOX and F-Zero.

    1. High Command should purchase Team Ninja and make them into ninjas that will be sent out to “take care” of creatures like Pachter and other nonsense…

  2. Of course they will. They are Japanese after all and the wiiu is picking steam faster in Japan than anywhere else.

  3. The guy who created DoA is an ass. Once this gaming reporter for a Swedish gaming magazine interviewed him and he told the reporter that “You’ll never be able to quickly hit the button combinations with those sausage fingers.” lol

    1. Everyone in Team Ninja is infected by their greed of breasts…

      We don’t need low-lifes like them…

      I hate such pigs…

        1. Boobs are fine, but it shouldn’t be the main focus of the game. That’s just dumb. The spin off volleyball DoA series is an example on what I mean. If they could take they volleyball out and have just tits bouncing around they would but you can’t sell a game like that for consoles.

      1. Geez, stop acting so condescending and let people have their fun.
I’m not fond of the Dead or Alive series and fanservice tends to annoy me but calling developers low-lives is exaggerating.

        1. It’s not fun to treat women like sex objects in anyway…

Specially in games where kids play as they will learn the same ape behaviour these “Ninjas” have…

I don’t think liking breats is bad at all but oversexualising just for the sake of it, no thank you…

          1. Peach in a thong, Zero Suit Samus and “We Dare” Nintendo approved video game would like a word with you. Also have you ever heard of ratings and parental guidance? You seem to be the same class of imbeciles that blame gun violence, or violence in general, on video games alone.

            1. Yes because I think objectifying women is wrong I’m an imbecil and in the same category as the gun lovers?…

This world makes so much sense each day I see it…..

              1. “Specially in games where kids play as they will learn the same ape behaviour as these ‘Ninjas’ have…” is why I wrote what I did, and never did I imply anywhere in my post that you were a gun lover.

            2. Zero Suit Samus is not a problem, it’s just on the fence…

It’s way better than before when she only had a bikini so I thank Retro Studios for that…

                  1. Of course, I AM the one who doesn’t understand as proven by your misinterpretation of my earlier post where you even thought that somehow I was calling you a gun lover. Hmm…
                    Farewell then.

          2. No, games like GTA and Duke Nukem are games that treat women like objects. That’s what women should get mad about.

At least in Doa they bother to give them personalities and backstories, if Ninja Theory wanted them to be sex objects they wouldn’t go through the trouble of doing all that.

The jiggles physics (or bouncy breats) are more often made fun of then anything. In other words, it’s just too stupid to be taken seriously and being offensive. That’s why I was telling you to calm down.

(Besides, the games are at least rated T…if kids are playing that and can’t tell the difference between fiction and reality it’s not the game’s fault, but theirs)

  4. All they have to do is add Mario, Pokemon, Yoshi or any of those Nintendo baby cartoon characters into one of their games and the Nintendo babies will buy their game in drones. The only type of games that sell well on that baby excuse of a console are the baby games.

    1. Atleast us Babies have our whole lives ahead of us to enjoy many more games unlike you Elderly soon to die from aging and movie games…

    2. Tell me this, if Nintendo is baby, why the mature game get out did by Pikmin 3? Why cant you mature gamers buy enougy sony consoles and software to get Sony out the hole? Why aren’t you mature gamers buying enough 1st party games making Sony and Microsoft to be top 5 best selling software? Why is that? Oh that’s right hardcore gamers are the minority!!! You hardcore gamers should have bought more PS3s and 360s to outsell the Wii!!!!

  5. Eh, some people will overspend on porn for no apparent reason… I guess some people are into the whole controlling thing…. kinda creepy if you think about it.

Gotta say though, I played DoA2 ages ago and I kinda liked the battle system. Too bad they’ve removed everything worthwhile the series had by now.

  6. So, Team Ninja, what to win me over after Razor’s Edge? Then bring DOA5 to Wii U. I want a DOA game on a Nintendo Console already, and no Dimensions doesn’t count.

  7. No ports? Looks like we will have to wait a while to see a new Dead or Alive or Ninja Gaiden from them. But, I did remember that Nintendo co-owns Fatal Frame with Tecmo. If they were to make a new Fatal Frame, it better be even scarier and less disappointing than Spirit Camera.

  8. They would make games that are a good fit for Wii U? What does that even mean? Wii U has the same buttons as the other controllers PLUS a touchscreen. All games that are good for other consoles, it should be also be a good fit for Wii U. But its fanbase is a different story.

  9. So……is Team Ninja really Tecmo? I’m confused about that. I haven’t seen the Tecmo name in a LONG time. Unless I have and just can’t remember.
