This week’s Media Create sales figures are now in from Japan. This week saw the release of Sonic Lost World which performed worse than expected. The Wii U version of the Wii U version of the game failed to chart, whilst the Nintendo 3DS version only managed to come in at number eighteen. The Nintendo 3DS remains the best-selling format, shifting a reasonable 109,508 units this week. However, Wii U sales continue to decline with the console only managing to sell 2,598 units which put it behind PlayStation Vita.

Did Sonic release for WiiU?
I assume so. The 3DS version entered at number eighteen. Wikipedia says they were released October 24th in Japan.
I started to think that the worts enemy of WiiU is Nintendo itself (Not for WiiU is a failure) just for put a lot of game in 3DS instead of WiiU. (Kirby, Smash (more cheaper), Pikachu detective).

Will let’s see we were right on Pikmin 3 and WWHD and wrong on W101 and Sonic. 50/50. We also assume Mario World, Mario Kart and Smash and Zelda U and DKTF. So most of the sellers I’m waiting for other than Mario world aimt out yet. We were only wrong on 2 tittles.

This is why it was a dumb idea to put Smash Bros on 3DS. Smash Bros won’t help the Wii U sales increase. It can’t compete with 3Ds install base.

Yeah sorry I agree on that. Smash won’t help Wii U sales. It can’t compete with 3DS install base. The only way that game could help is push back 3DS version until Wii U version sales subsides. Yeah, putting the game on both systems makes Nintendo seem as if they do not have much faith in the Wii U. They know a 3DS version will sell because, well, it’s the 3DS – but the Wii U *needs* those kinds of exclusives that will drive people to go out and buy the system.
Anyway, 2014 *should* logically look better sales-wise for the Wii U. We just have to wait and see how much better.

Wii U version of smash needs way more than 3 months apart from 3Ds version like a year. 3DS will be alright to wait longer so Wii U can pick up in sales.

It would have not been a big problem if Wii U version had Mega Man and Sonic only. Like characters not in 3DS version then it wouldn’t matter.
But that is the problem though. Majority of the sales are from the holiday period. I rather have Nintendo releases all the big guns for the holiday than 2014 by looking at the sales view. At least we got Super Mario 3D World for an holiday. Only if Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Brother was released for the holiday then we should expected a big jump.

Vita is doing fine, but it can do better. Before the year is over, Vita should get a boost from Gundam Breaker, Hyperdimension Neptunia re Birth, God Eater 2, Vita TV, and Final Fantasy X HD.
I wish I could say the same for Wii U but it looks like Nintendo is putting all of their hopes on system bundles and Super Mario 3D World. We’ll see how that turns out. Obviously the holiday season will give it a boost, but the question is, how much?

Because it’s not always about graphics. It’s about the games, gameplay, and having the device fit one’s lifestyle. In Japan, mobile devices are extremely popular. A dedicated gaming mobile with great games fits that lifestyle of being on the go and still being entertained.
Outside of Japan, it’s easier for kids to carry around and cheaper for parents to afford. For the older gamers, it’s about the games that come on the system, being able to take it to work or school, and sometimes just being able to kick back and relax away from a TV at home and still be able to play games.
If they push back 3DS version of Smash bros. That could help. But at the same time…..I don’t know. If you ask me I rather play smash Bros in HD but because that game is so heavy in sales it will also be a hit on a handheld too. That’s why I won’t the game on my 3DS. smash bros that is. Graphics and HD ain’t everything and Nintendo is getting the taste of their own medecine. And also Lost Worlds for 3DS has online. And it made 18th spot. I thought Nintendo fanboys who argued with me said online is not everything. I guess 18th spot proves I was right.
What worst about smash being on both systems is that the Wii U is going to be limited in characters since they want to have the same chars for both systems and that’s not fair to the Wii U because it can have way more characters then the 3ds version but Nintendo will cut cost wherever they can
So far most of the characters announced is more than I expected. Also some of those extra characters were clones. Like it would be nice to have Britney and Ralph but for what just to say smash has more characters. After all Fox, Falco and Wolf is conceptly the same person. Yet if Krystal was on their she’d have a staff and could use it so it will feel like a different character. Did you miss Pichu from Melee?
Since the story mode is gone we can have more characters. 35-40 would be nice. They were able to get tons of street fighter characters on the 3ds version of street fighter, but smash and SF are two different games
Also adventure mode would be a welcome return.
I really hope they have over 35 since that was how much Brawl had at their disposal. Otherwise it’s going to essentially be a remake of Brawl, which is what it feels like at the moment

Yeah. I have a theory that both versions might get some special characters. I doubt Sakurai would drop the ice climbers since they are a fan favorite.

Wii U is not under-powered. Even though the CPU is PowerPC 7xx based, the clock speed is actually what those processors couldn’t even get to, and the core is tripled.
People need to stop reading into the clock speed.

Indeed. Why would Nintendo put in “under-powered” hardware in their console in the first place. It’s 1080p native, so it’s going to need some horsepower, and since there isn’t supposed to be any screen tearing.
PS4 and X1 have got stupid processors. They’re designed for notebooks, nothing else. Stupid MS and Sony.
Some people are very new to gaming, they read numbers from a tech sheet and think that this indicates how powerful a console is.
It was polygons with the PS2, it’s RAM with the PS4, people still fall for it.
I remember reading an article in which the developers of KI have had trouble getting the game running at 720p @ 30FPS. That tells me that Its just as hard to program for x86.

I really hate Nintendo’s strategy with Wii U. No new game announcements. All 3DS! Even the Japanese hate the console. So much potential, wasted for 1.5 yrs. Now PS4 and Xbone is here. The worst is yet to come.
X1 and PS4 aren’t out until the end of November.. And besides their sales won’t be any higher than Wii U, because there aren’t many titles as far as I am concerned. Also Wii U will be cheaper (in a good way!!!!). Plus we’ve got many exclusives Nintendo are bringing out. Wii U’s life has effectively only just started.
Sadly though, many consumers will still buy X1 and PS4 during the holiday season eventhough they don’t know these consoles have no games yet. Many consumers still buy products first without doing their homework.
What of PS4 and X1 is actually exciting? There isn’t anything from what I have seen. Yes it might look “powerful”, but whats the point in all of it if there isn’t any software taking advantage. From the look of things, they’ve stuffed all that power in and that’s why the console is so expensive. There is no need for 8 cpu cores. Not even PC games need that level of power.
So expensive? You do realize PS4 is only 50 bucks higher than Wii U when it launched right? For 100 dollars more you get a system that is drastically more powerful. If you look at it like that, Wii U is very boring. Its nothing we haven’t seen before.
There will only be limited quantities so ofcourse they will sell out due to their dedicated core gamers. The real challenge is when the respective companies cores of gamers are saturated and the quantity levels reach demand and then going forward. Ps4 and xOne are very similar, and will cannibalize eachother in terms of sales. WiiU not so much. Most wont have a ps4 and xone, but may buy a wiiu for 1st party exclusives.
When mariokart, which broke records on the wii, is released the system adoption rate is going to explode.
In my opinion a 32 gig Wii U should be cheaper than a 150 gig XB360. They have the same graphical power pretty much.
No price drop for Japanese market and the bundles are slated for I believe the 31st to be released in that market. Karaoke U or whatever its called is being bundled, Party U bundle, Fit U bundle is also releasing there soon. Why buy a full priced system with only nintendoland, when you can wait and get a bundle with free games/accessories? Nintendo will be fine. Sony and Microsoft are going to destroy each other and Nintendo will keep chugging along.

Nintendo’s fault. No one is interested in Wii U cause 80% of people think its a Wii peripheral, 15% know it has no good games and the sorriest ports, and the last 5% just don’t want it period. It lacks innovation. Think about it; Wii was dramatically different than anything else when it launched in 06. Wii U can’t do anything PS4 can’t do. If you have a Vita, you technically can do all the features Wii U can pull. Changing the name would have helped clear the confusion concerning Wii U as a next gen contender. Wii U doesn’t attract casual players, so the hardcore are waiting for the more powerful systems to launch. I seriously don’t see how Nintendo can hope to survive this holiday season on top. They don’t stand a chance of Wii U outselling the other 2. If PS4 and XB1 do even decent, they’ll surpass Wii U’s life time sales in a year with ease. That’s when Nintendo will be in massive trouble.
