Watch Dogs Budget Was $68 Million Pre-delay

Stéphane Decroix, an executive producer on Ubisoft’s upcoming blockbuster Watch Dogs, has revealed that the budget for the game was in excess of 50 million euros ($68 million) before the title was delayed. The news broke when Kotaku ran a feature looking at how much video game development has cost over the years.

  1. thats a lot of money!! its a shame that the wii u version is going to be a bigger flop in sales than barbies dream house.

    1. according to what theirs no proof of that yet and if they keep delaying this game on all consoles people are just going give up on it, and we won’t know how it does on Wii U but I do know everyone that Ive talked to who owns a Wii U say their going to get the game

    2. Seriously mate just shut up, why do you constantly bash Wii U? Think it’s clever? Got nothing else better to be doing? I on the other hand really want this game and shall be getting it for my Wii U!!!

      1. These people don’t have lives and are on computers 24/7 and want to feel wanted because they are being neglected

    3. If the costs are so high like that, the game will flop even if it sells 3-4 million. Ubisoft will need it to sell around 5 million to have some profits, but a new franchise hardly sell that well. Even The Last Of Us didn´t reached 4 million copies sold

  2. Watch Dogs is the only “blockbuster” game of 2014 that I’m interested at the moment…
This, and Dragon Age 3, if they ever release it this year (very unlikely)

      1. Well you would have to own a console other than the Wii U to get Destiny…. so many of us probably won’t play it.

I have to admit. I would probably buy Destiny if it came to the Wii U, but I don’t want to own a Microsoft or Sony console.

  3. I’m buying this game. It is one of the only realistic (graphics wise) games I will ever buy aside from 007 Nightfire, Shin Megami and Bayonetta.

    Exciting!!!

  4. Don’t know about you guys but I am totally getting this game for my Wii U. And thanks again ubisoft for showing me that so far I do not need to get any of the other “next gen” consoles to enjoy great non Nintendo games (cause yeah, I like those too)

Signed by an UK user that does not run after every “new” release of call of duty or Fifa

      1. Same! From Australia…. I hope it doesn’t flop because it seems like great alternative to GTA and the hype seems to be evaporating due to the delay.

        1. its GTA for the wii u basicly haha i love the concept of the game an cant wait for it :) yeah it has killed some hype but pre orders are high still

        2. Yeah, me too, and I’m American. I’m just really excited for this game, as opposed to “Generic Shooter 7.5.” I’m hoping that it lives up to the hype of what you can do and choose in the game.

          1. ahh cool :) an yeah i cant stand shooters! this game looks like you can do alot of things an i look forward to trying it out

            1. I do enjoy some “shooters” just not all of them appeal to me… Even less if it is basically a game I have already played with little updates but oh well.

Back to watchdogs, I just pre ordered it from Amazon!! :) Letting Ubisoft know that Wii U users are there waiting for it and £40 seems to be the best price so far.

  5. Ubi better bring their “A GAME” for the Wii U version of this game…or else it’s not gonna be pretty if the game sells poorly because they think their “C GAME” will suffice!
