Shacknews is reporting that the Wii U had its highest month for unit sales so far. Neither the NPD group or Nintendo have disclosed actual Wii U figures, but it sounds as though the Wii U had a decent month in December. Members of NeoGAF estimate the console sold above 460K Shacknews also says that the Nintendo 3DS was the best-selling system in December and during 2013. Microsoft says its Xbox One and Xbox 360 were the best-selling home consoles.
“Hardware sales of the Wii U were also positive with December 2013 marking its highest month for unit sales month so far,” NPD analyst Liam Callahan

Give it time, we should know the numbers shortly. Also, you said you got conned with the Wii U… how? It it because it’s not powerful enough or the lack of 3rd party support? Either way you will have to wait about 5-6 years and will miss out on good games like Zelda, Metroid and probably Starfox :O
Yes, we were all conned. Maybe you don’t care but I do. Reggie and Iwata lied about attracting back the hardcore, said the console was more powerful than it is and said they’d be doing everything to get the 3rd parties back. Lies, all lies.
Make no mistake I’m keeping my Wii U and I can’t wait for Smash Bros., X, Zelda and hopefully a new Metroid and F-Zero along with other surprises. But Wii U is a disaster, an absolute disaster and it’s only going to get worse. 3rd party support is the worst it’s ever been for any console.
Nintendo HAS done everything it can. It made a more efficiant console thag’s only slightly behind the other 2 (much better than the gap in Wii).
Blame the third parties. Nintendo’s only issue was they took longer than promised on their “launch games.” But that was a golden opprotunity for 3rd parties to release games without competition from Nintendo.
Nope. They released tired, old ports. Cried about it when they didn’t sell (because people weren’t interested in ports) and then jumped ship.
Nintendo’s mistakes just lie in it’s past when they made the N64 hard to develop for because they only wanted “exceptional” developers to make games for their system. Then they tried to fix that on GC…. then lost them on Wii (albeit making huge money, at least).
Now they’re doing their best and it’s just hard to get people to support Nintendo anymore.
Even fans such as yourself bash them daily… it’s not surprising the Wii U is struggling.
I don’t bash them daily but things have to be said. It’s bad, really bad. I don’t want to be bashing Nintendo but they deserve it. They’ve made so many mistakes in the past few years. Starting with the tail end of the Wii and continuing to this very day with the Wii U. I want and would love Nintendo to succeed but they need to make a lot of changes.

You’re a bit confused, the 340% was from NPD group, not Nintendo, Nintendo said 340% because thats what they got from NPD.
NPD tracks sales from retailers and makes estimate. The numbers Nintendo knows is shipment number. Shipment does NOT equal Sales. NPD may uses Nintendo’s shipment numbers to adjust estimates.
NPD is a private company, they don’t have to give out numbers if they don’t want to. To companies like NPD, Media Create, etc tracking is a business. They collect data and try convince companies like Nintendo, MS, Sony, etc. that their numbers are accurate, then sell their data and analysis to those companies.

I’m not disputing it’s the highest sales figure it ever had. Just give us the numbers instead of sugar coating it. Saying what they said sounds much better than saying is sold 460,000 units. It’s somewhere between that and 630,000 units. A lot of leeway there.

I bought FIFA 13 against my better judgement but my nephew wanted it so I got it. That game is a farce and as it stands looks like being the only FIFA Wii U will get. Other consoles have FIFA 14 while we have a mediocre version that was basically FIFA 12 and missing modes. I bought Tiger Woods 12: The Masters for Wii just before Christmas so I could have a fix of TW. It’s a disgrace, I spent €400 on a console that has practically no 3rd party support. Don’t even mention Wii Sports HD, another farce.

Not really. It has improved every month since October with Windwaker HD. It hasn’t been going down and down each month that would be failing. Its a slow crawl but its gotten better. Its not easy to turn a big beast around, takes time. Worst of the Wii U is over with fact.
