Nintendo World Championships, an extremely rare NES game, is up for auction on eBay. The game is expected to fetch thousands of dollars, as there were only 116 ever made. The game has already attracted 46 bids and the highest bid at the time of writing is for $15,500.00. Sadly for the collector the sticker on front of the cartridge has been ripped off and the words Mario have been scrawled on the front. Still, despite it’s condition it’s still a highly sought after item. The Nintendo World Championships cartridge still has one day left for bids, so it will be interesting to see how high it goes.

Wow, people still do this? Amazing.
I thought this article was about a ware rare game when I first saw it.
Same here.
Reblogged this on Curiosidades na internet.
Not sure why this is considered news.
What?! for an NES game?
It’s the rarest video game of all time. Collectors’ craziest dream. The golden version is even rarer I think.
Golden version has only 20 or so made I’ve heard.
The rarest video game of all time? lol. Not even close. Try a little research before you make claims like that. Hint: Atari.
What about it?
dam. rare things are always valuable.if I win a game from Nintendo and know only a few are produced, I will keep it safely for the next 15 years then sell it :D
You should keep all your Wii U games cause we all know they arent selling lol
Ouch, that even hurt me :(
Dang, that much? And isn’t the gold cart of this worth like double that?
But why is it so special? It could practically be just SMB3 and people will pay +20,000$
what on earth is the point of collecting a badly damaged cartridge?
i can understand if it’s in mint condition.. sort of
but this will always be a flawed item the genuinity of which probably can’t even be confirmed due to the damages
It’s genuine. The carts are unique individually marked with a specific # and counter.
if it were that simple to confirm it’s genuine he wouldn’t specifically mention a forensic institute in his description in order to confirm genuinity.. meaning he has 0 confirmation that it’s genuine… you’ll have to take his word for it
$30.000 sor far, and for a cartridge with the label ripped off… Feel kinda bad for the guy who get it.
why feel bad for him? he chose this ridiculousness of buying a cartridge that may not even be authentic
He knows what he’s getting so there’s no need to feel bad for him lol
I would be afraid to own a game that valuable. I’m perfectly happy with my complete copy of Earthbound being my most valuable. I don’t even consider NWC a real game. Just getting the reproduction cart is good enough for me.
I want the original Earthbound cart so bad but it’s so expensive! Does the save function still work on your cart?
Well, the last time I played it the battery was still good. But that was many years ago. Not sure if it’s still good now? But even if it isn’t, I could just install a new one. Though I’ve never done that before.
Yeah you could always replace the battery. Look at some videos on YouTube or bring it to a local gamestore to replace it.
I just noticed NES Remix is kinda like NWC after watching the AVGN video lol.
stupid people with money. they keep the economy booming.

Wow ah!
Are you serious? It’s at $40,500 right now. Who the fuck would pay that much for game? I would buy a car instead!
Think about it as an investment. Value will only go higher.
It’s at $55,600 now lol. I think it’s a stupid investment unless the highest bidder is a fuckin millionaire.
If the Wii U gets discontinued and goes on sale for €99 I’m actually buying one and putting it unwrapped in my basement. Still regret that I didn’t do just that when I saw NES on sale for €35 around ’97.
