Sega has released a trailer for its forthcoming Sonic game called Sonic Boom which according to the trailer is exclusive to Nintendo 3DS and Wii U. The game is in development by Big Red Button and Sega and should be released this year. Big Red Button contains a couple of developers from acclaimed development team, Naughty Dog.
Serving as a prequel to the stories revealed in the TV series the Sonic Boom video game will deliver a totally different experience to previous Sonic games with collaborative gameplay at its core. Developed in the U.S by California based Big Red Button Entertainment (Wii U) and Sanzaru Games (Nintendo 3DS) in collaboration with Sonic Team, this is the third title to be released as part of an exclusive deal with Nintendo. Sonic Boom will take advantage of the innovative hardware of both the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS, with traditional elements of Sonic games, such as speed, also featured. The videogame will also introduce exploration, combat and a new Enerbeam tether mechanic that will allow the Sonic Boom world to be discovered in totally unique ways.

Knuckles is kinda of a powerhouse character in Sonic if anything they finally portray him well in this one thats just me though..

They should have made him more block shape, and similar in size to sonic, they should have made it look like he had dread locks, and skin flaps like a flying squirrel. It would have looked a lot better, and he wouldn’t be so oddly out of place from the other characters

The designs are a little weird, but the gameplay looks interesting. I’m kind of glad that they’re bringing back the multiple characters thing. It kind of reminds me of what I liked about the Sonic Adventure games.
Lost World was pretty fun, so I look forward to seeing what this goes.

Sonic adventure 1 and 2 are probably the best in my opinion, it really helped sonic grow. A chance to try some of the characters from the sonic world, chaos garden and of course the Speed! Sonic is about speed and if you didn’t like sonic before you probably will never like him so give up on giving bad comments on a game you will never like. The sonic the hedgehog for xbox 360 and ps3 sucked actually and the ones on the regular Wii sucked.

I was lukewarm about it until the moment i heard Skrillex’s Bangarang. Then, my expectations plummeted like overweight Eggman pushed off a skyscraper.
Don’t get me wrong. It’s a good thing that Sonic got a bit of a reinvention going on now, but just because Borderlands 2 used dubstep in their trailers doesn’t mean you can use it in your games’ trailers too without making it look like absolute pandering.

I think Knuckles design is great. I don’t know why “weird” has a negative connotation attached to it. So what if Knuckles looks “weird?” He is the brute of the team and needs to show that in having a larger upper body.

People need to chill out some. Why didn’t people freak out when Knuckles had the hat in the Sonic movie? I get it, the sport bandages, buff Knuckles and even lankier Sonic are a big change, but it’s just for this game and tv show, it’s not the new look period. Sonic and crew will be looking just like Colors/Generations/Lost World iterations in no time.. though I would like to see Robotnik/Eggman keep his new look, it’s fantastic.

Lets not forget that the trailer uses in game assets, no CG, and it looks absolutely gorgeous… using the Cry Engine 3 (arguably the best looking engine out there, better than Frostbite and Unreal) for the Wii U. If this thing shows up in 1080p and 60fps, it’s going to be a gorgeous beast to be sure. The gameplay looks great as well, each character sharing similar gameplay elements, yet each also having distinct abilities and movesets. Cannot wait to learn more.

Sonic is WAY too tall, and what in the world is up with Knuckles?! What happened to that awesome little red dude that would beat guys up with his fists?! Now he’s some big ugly monster! I’m really going to miss Knuckles! :,( I wish they could have just gone with how the characters look in Mario and Sonic at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games! They perfected their looks on that game!

They have been releasing Sonic with the same thing over and over and tried so many things and non of you would buy anything. Now they want a fresh start, with new designs to make them look more modern and new, which is cool, let them give them a new look, maybe this way they’ll get fresh ideas and make better games, stop complaining about the look! You’ve had the classic look for fucking 30 years, then go play old Sonic games, but it’s time for something new to see if this time people buy their games, so buy it or not, but stop complaining like little whiny idiots ’cause it seems that’s all you can do, so just learn to STFU!
Also, I’m glad it’s exclusive to Wii U, if this game is great, it’ll be a great thing to revive the Wii U, I just hope it gets better scores than Sonic: Lost World!

I’m still not sure about Knuckles’ design, but maybe my brain is just resisting change. Still, he seems a bit too much the odd one out. To me, anyways.
On the other hand, the game looks like it could be really good/fun. I’m looking forward to it.
