Nintendo has issued a statement which confirms that gay marriage won’t be taking place in the wacky Tomodachi Life when it reaches European and US store on June 6th. As I’m sure you are aware, a campaign was launched titled “Miiquality” by Tye Marini, a gay 23-year-old Nintendo fan from Mesa, Arizona, which asked the company to include same-sex marriage in the English version of the game. However, the statement issued by Nintendo suggests that gay relationships won’t feature in the game. It should also be noted that Nintendo Japan apparently issued a patch for the gay marriage glitch in the Japanese version of the game
“Nintendo never intended to make any form of social commentary with the launch of Tomodachi Life. The relationship options in the game represent a playful alternate world rather than a real-life simulation. We hope that all of our fans will see that Tomodachi Life was intended to be a whimsical and quirky game, and that we were absolutely not trying to provide social commentary.”

i really don’t care if they add gay marriage or not, but i understand that nintendo feels like it’s too controversial to add it in a rated E game. it’s ok. but it does leave me questioning the other times nintendo has added gay characters to their games. there is a gay pirate in zelda the windwaker, birdo is transexual, and one of their japanese only games has some gay themes. granted of course, that the only way i could tell the gay pirate in windwaker is because he is a stereotypical effeminate gay. the japanese have always been open to gay themes.

EA doesn’t have the family image that Nintendo has. However, it was brought to my attention that Disney has gay stuff in its tv shows and it hasn’t affected them much so maybe it wouldn’t affect Nintendo as drastically as I thought. Most parents teach their children that homosexuality is not okay so that’s why it’s a bad move to add that feature. What’s important here is not whether jamie from mynintendonews understands why, but to please the millions of parents that spend money. Times are changing but some of us will always hold on to our values, and hopefully so will our children. If I had kids I wouldn’t buy them this game if it had that option.

Because young kids shouldn’t have to see those type of things. This game is rated E which means 5 year olds might be playing. You can add all the gay content into a game rated M, hell you can make the whole game about homosexuality. When a game is rated E for everyone then it should be suitable for everyone. I don’t know why Nintendo have decided to leave the same sex relationships out. I know the game isn’t serious, is fun and quirky, but if gamers want the right to be in a relationship with someone the same gender as themselves, they should be allowed!
Don’t forget kids will be playing this too, and many parents don’t want to have to explain to their kids why their might be “two daddies.” Parents don’t feel they’re mature enough to know about these things yet.

Do I believe in the bible? Like you said, no one can’t prove if its right or wrong, so all that can really be formed is opinions. In my opinion, I find it very hard to really find it believable since I’m pretty sure it was written by humans and history books really don’t mention any of the Savior’s miracles nor does really emphasize much on what he does other than the Roman’s thinking that he was trying to amass an army so they had him crucified (most likely at the request of the Jews according the Bible from what it seems).

They didn’t ban gay marriage, they patched a serious glitch that broke the game. This glitch allowed players to import male miis from the previous game and fool the game into thinking they were female. Gay marriage wasn’t in the Japanese game to begin with so I don’t know why people would think they might change that for the localization.
An easy fix for the game is to just dress up a

It was never in the game, it was a trick someone did, so when the patch happened people assumed that something that wasn’t there in the first place was removed! Nintendo had clarified this some time ago but due to sensationalism, it’s been spun and blown out of proportion. Even with this misunderstanding most reports today were updated with this new information hours before this blog entry was posted. I swear to God most of the reason’s why I come here anymore is to check for any news that happen’s earlier in the morning here in the US then I’m out. Find any other report about this and they will tell you that they have found that there never was same sex marriage to begin with before or after the patch. Whatever was patched was an isolated incident from a same sex illusion that someone staged by having a registered female Mii have the appearance of a male. This game is just showing what the child would most likely expect from marriage, the traditional male and female. Because adults are in the minority, it doesn’t matter.
