Kings’s flagship mobile game Candy Crush has made more money than all Nintendo games combined last quarter. The entertainment company generated 56% more game revenues than Nintendo in the first quarter of 2014. King generated the majority of its earnings from Candy Crush Saga which has accounted for two-thirds of King’s revenues. This means that the mobile game made more than all Nintendo game earnings in the first quarter put together. This has led some to believe that King will ultimately be above Nintendo for the full 2014 calendar year.

Yeah, that’s bad if that’s the case, but I guess the mobile gaming market continues to rise. Either that or the only reason they’re making money is because of how many people are paying to continue playing Candy Crush.
It just seems so crazy to me – I’ve never been even slightly interested in Candy Crush. (Or Flappy Bird, or what have you). If mobile gaming DOES take over the gaming market, as some analysts predict, I’ll be done with gaming. As long as Nintendo survives, though, I think I’ll have stuff to play.

I think you guys are forgetting that a lot of these mobile games make a large amount of money from ad revenue. The fact that king made more money than Nintendo is irrelevant because it didn’t come from actual game revenue.
This ^^ Ninty sells a game and that’s all the profit they make, King makes money for every time some one plays the game. So it could be the same million people playing over and over as appose to Ninty selling 5-10 million units but only making a profit once.

You can download the initial game and play it for “free” until you get to a certain point, then you have to pay to continue, or for the convenience of being able to play more without having to wait for some random worthless in game object to regenerate enough for you to play, this usually takes the better part of 48 hours. Casual gamers/humans are impatient and are unwilling to wait for the “free” items to regen, so they pay $0.99 to continue playing right then. It’s a BS cycle and it’s an underhanded way to get people to pay for games that are advertised as “Free”.

Most mobile games have very little, thought put into them, the only thing they need to make sure people buy the game is for it to be mildly addictive. There was a link in the article that will give you the dollar amounts. The game just launched, it takes time to compile numbers. The Wii U will never outsell PS4, it’s already been surpassed by the PS4 and XBO, both of which launched at the end of last year. There’s nothing hypocritical about this article, that word has no relevance here. Sickr saw an article that showed how poorly Nintendo is performing and posted about it. This is a news site, Nintendo isn’t all sunshine and rainbows, especially when it comes to the Wii U’s sales.
