Check Out Link’s Alternative Costume In Super Smash Bros Wii U

link_skyward_sword_costume_smash_bros

Super Smash Bros designer Masahiro Sakurai has given us a glimpse at Link’s alternative costume in the Wii U version of the game. The image above shows Link in his traditional Skyward Sword clothing. It’s a new design for Link and isn’t a simple colour change for the character. The Wii U version of the game launches this winter.

Pic of the day. Here’s Link in an outfit based on his ordinary clothes in Skyward Sword! The art style looks a little different, but the actual clothing model is still his usual tunic.

I think he’s leaving it because it would change Link’s hit box. When you hit his hat, it hurts him and if you remove it, then that is a slight advantage over those who play in Link’s traditional garb.

      1. No I don’t think that’s it. People made all kinds of Model hacks for Link in Brawl and it didn’t change his hitbox, plus the hat itself has jiggle bones so it couldn’t have one.

I think it’s a selectable color with a different design like in Brawl with characters like Snake and Ness. So Link could still have a real alternate costume.

  1. I hope this isn’t his real alt costume and is just a palette swap cause if it is that’s really underwhelming since the model hasn’t changed, I was hoping for like his OoT look or even the different armours from twilight princess

  2. He should have really pushed the design it kinda looks like his normal clothing, but his tunic ruins the fact its a alt

  3. It reminds me of what Skyward Sword would look like with a Twilight Princess art-style mix. It looks glorious.

  4. Maybe we could get Chrom as an alternate costume for Marth? I know everyone says Lucina, but this would save space for more characters and still give fans “Chrom”. I’m a Fire Emblem fan, but in all honesty, I think Chrom would have a pretty similar move set anyways, so I think an alternate skin would be better.

I disagree. Chrom would be better as an alternate costume for Ike since Chrom can learn Aether in Awakening. Lucina is better as a female alternate outfit for Marth since her character design is based on Marth’s slenderness.

I wish the sleeves were there and the hat was gone :/ I didn’t even realize it was from Skyward Sword until I read the article.

*facepalm* Link is wearing a tunic (a thigh length shirt,) not a skirt. Next you’ll be calling him an elf instead of a Hylian.

  6. Tallon Ridley XIII: Kalas

I was hoping for something way more epic… but this is still a pretty good alternate costume. With any luck, we’ll see more than one alternate outfit for certain characters. Then there is the possibility that Sakurai might work on some DLC in later months since he did say somewhere that he was considering DLC, if I remember correctly.
