Tecmo Koei – the publisher behind such franchises as Dead or Alive, Dynasty Warriors and most recently the Zelda spin-off Hyrule Warriors – are set to switch around its company name in Europe. As announced on Twitter yesterday, the company will be known as Koei Tecmo from July 1.
In a similar case earlier this year, Bandai Namco (Namco Bandai as before) changed its company name to follow suit with the Japanese division. Tecmo Koei America has yet to confirm the name change but it will be, no doubt, on the cards for the company’s unity in the near future.

Anyway, if Tecmo Koei of America doesn’t change their name to Koei Tecmo til months after Hyrule Warriors releases in the United States, I wonder how many case collectors will actually buy the game twice: one with the Tecmo Koei brand name on it when it first releases & one with the Koei Tecmo brand name on it months later after the change. This is a big if, though, since they could either change the name before Hyrule Warriors releases or they can just ship them with the name change already on the case.
I can see a few collectors doing just that. Just like how some coin collectors will collect the two different mints of United States coins.

Well, the K in the logo comes before the T anyway, & Westerners read from left to right. Still, why not just change the logo to TK & leave the actual name alone?
