GameStop President Says Only 40% Of Their Customers Know That They Accept Trade-Ins

GameStop president Tony Bartel has revealed that only 40% of their customer base know that the company accepts trade-ins for in store credit. Bartel was speaking to Venture Beat about the importance of trade-ins and their future plans.

“The biggest opportunity with trades is awareness. Believe it or not, only 40 percent of the people who walk into a GameStop store today know that we accept trades of games.”

    1. I think that’s why it’s only 40%. People lie and say they don’t know GameCrap doesn’t, but they all hear about the scamming. Give me 15 for a game and sale it at 55? Fuck you

  1. Probally less with all the nintendofags out there. They are a bunch of idiots when it comes to knowing modern gaming. They rather hold onto every shitty game and praise it than to get new games.

    1. Nintendo Commander Quadraxis

Because unlike your pathetic Xbot or Sonyan games, we actually enjoy our sacred games and value the resources put into buying them…

And we hold onto most of our games because they are pure entertainment, has replay value and is just better than your boring garbage…

And what Kurisu said, those idiots don’t give enough credit for it…

      Xbot, go home…

      1. Reggie did say that those games put out by Nintendo are usually held on more than traded in. And if it was traded in, there’s serious thought about doing it.

I gave off my mario land 3DS and mario kart 7. I regretted doing it but wanna cash, but in the end, I got them back when they were the same price of what I sold them for (20 each).

      2. nintenfags still never play modern games. They never get any great 3rd person games cuz the Wii U gets none. you can hold onto your old games and circlejerk about how good they are. Or upgrade to a real system and play some real modern gaming.

It’s called a PC, why would I want gimped PCs?…

Have fun with your outdated crap while I enjoy the best of 2 worlds…

          1. You need to have all consoles to experience true gaming unfortunately. PC won’t cut it all all the time. I’m still deciding PS4 or PC at the moment…I’ll get to Xbone sometime in the near future too though.

            1. Nintendo Commander Quadraxis

A true gamer plays whatever it wants BUT is not fooled by retarded species like the Xbots after what they tried to pull…

                1. Nintendo Commander Quadraxis

No, unlike most of you I have something called principals…

People that buys anything no matter what are also those who most likely will surrender to their goverments when they want to install chips into your brains and other enslavement programs…

You humans need to think more…

                  1. No they aren’t. These are just video games. It’s not a serious issue. A gamer will play any games that they want and try to play as many games as they possibly can. It’s not like Microsoft is out to get you and kidnap your whole family or something. They’re just a company. Lmao. Just enjoy the games.

Maybe you’ll understand when you’re older but nothing is “just” anything…

And what Microsoft just like the rest of the US are after, is to enslave you all, the saddest part is that you already are but they have brainswashed you so much with their “freedom” garbage that it’s laughable…

The US is one of the most non freedom countries ever…

But whatever, you’ll all find out when it’s too late, meanwhile I’ll enjoy the last remaining years of gaming until the day they all force a surveillance program on you all…

                      Once that happens, goodbye gaming…

                      1. If you truly believe that Microsoft is out to get me, then how do you explain the other gaming platforms? Is the PS3 out to get me too? Is the PS4 controller’s light bar secretly a government camera? My 3DS XL has too cameras… Oh no, everyone’s out to get me! LOL! XD Seriously, they’re just games. The Xbox One Kinect isn’t the end of the world. It’s not gonna upload pictures of you in the shower to the internet or anything. It’s just there for gaming. Nothing else.

This is why you humans need to read, listen and investigate news and so on yourselves…

Let’s talk no further because it will only end up in tears for you all…

              1. Why must someone buy a console and a pc to get full enjoyment of gaming? Getting a xbox360 gives you a cheaper and more fullfilling feeling when gaming than your idea

                1. Because of the simple fact that you will never be LIMITED when a game you want doesn’t come out for a PC or any other console…take Nintendo for that example. You can’t find any games without hacking or pirating it. Maybe at gametap you can, but you won’t find what you want anywhere else. I think hollow is right in this respect of my saying…”A true gamer Plays all”. You need all of the consoles if you don’t want to be limited of where games decide to be released. That Includes PC…

                  1. That’s why I’m aiming to get as many systems as possible. I may have to get PC out the way first and then choose another current gen system. I’m leaning more towards the Xbox One though mainly for the exclusives.

            2. You clearly don’t know much about gaming history. And Nintendo does get some, they’re usually exclusive though. The Wii even had a number with games like No More Heroes and Monster Hunter, Wii U did launch with a number, though devs released months old games which cost them and they use those poor sales as an excuse. When games are available in other places first, they sell there cause wait or not, it’s the same game. That’s why they’re getting them to be exclusive now like Bayonetta 2, or crossovers like Hyrule Warriors. And the Wii U actually has exclusive games. As of now, there’s no reason to buy a ps4 or Xone more than a gaming PC, and the PC also gets exclusives. As far as consoles are concerned, you’re better off sticking to your seventh gen consoles rather than going for the eighth for at least another year, and this is coming from someone who bought a ps4 at launch

            3. Real system & play some real modern gaming? Wow. Those terms scream idiot, troll, or Nintenhater. Or all three! Anyone that uses those terms should not be taken seriously & should be ignored like the morons that they were. Now run along & actually play your “real” system if it’s so “real.” lol

      3. Lol. Only 40% of the ppl knows you accept trade-ins. Write this on a green sheet with red letters: “we accept trade-ins!” Now hang that up on your walls and give each customer who walks into your store a card that says: “we accept trade-ins”. If that doesn’t help you you could always ask your staff to tell their customers that you accept trade-ins. It isn’t that hard. Really?

      4. I went to trade in a $60 game, and the value went down to that of a $15 – $20 dollar game. No one wants to trade for bullshit. I’ve made more selling my games on ebay.

      5. We all know how gamestop can be…
Also something to take note is that Nintendo games tend to have a high price always as long as there is not a new iteration of the game. Playstation games and Xbox games always low their prices after some time, even if they were best sellers and game of the year. Which for me is convenient because sometimes I cannot afford to buy them full price :P
On nintendo games though, they are still pricey until a new one comes out or a new console is out…

          1. But they always give you bang for the buck. And you can still sell them for more if you are tired of them and need cash for other games. Try making some money of a game that costs you €60 but is now selling for half of that… Nobody is going to pay more than €15-20 for that while you can sell the Nintendo game for more.

I also don’t get why games in general should drop in price… Obviously they should if a new game from a series arrives but why does a game loses its value after a few months even tough there isn’t a new version of it out yet…
Sure it’s good for people that don’t have a lot of money but why not sell the game at a lower price like €50 for a year instead of two months for €60 and after that ten months of €40 and lower… That’s cheap for everyone and the publishers can probably make more money in the long run.

            1. I don’t sell any of my games, so that’s not an option. I just have to deal with the high prices every time I want their game. Nintendo games almost never drop in price even when there is a new game. And that does get quite annoying. And not all Nintendo franchises are my cup of tea. Like how NSMBU was $60 when I bought it and got severely disappointed by it. And other games that launched around the same time (like say Far Cry 3) are about $20-30 now.

      6. I never trade in a game. I like to keep my physical copies of games on a shelf like a library.

When I was younger I traded in a couple games for money to buy new games. I regret trading in each and every one of them, because I missed them and ended up buying them again anyway.

        1. Same with me. Many years ago, I traded in 2 like-new complete copies of Mischief Makers and Bomberman 64 at Gamestop (called Software Etc. then) for one CRAP ECW N64 wrestling game (only the cartridge). I’ll never understand why I did something so crazy? I’ve never been able to buy back these games complete because of the prices. But I bought the cartridge of Mischief Makers again.

As a major collector, I’ll NEVER get rid of any game ever again. Even if it sucks! I have a boatload of games that suck, but I still love having them. Something that only fellow collectors could ever understand.

      7. I feel sorry for anybody who trades in their games with places like Gamestop, when you can sell them for MUCH more on eBay.

      8. Thats HILARIOUS!!!! 100% know that their TRADE INS are pure and utter BS and opt for EBAY instead where they can actually get a good amount for the game. No one is asking Gamestop to give them Market value for a game but what they offer vs what they end up selling it for is just SAD. So tears I do not shed for the lack of business in that dept. Stop being greedy and watch your business boom. ;-)
