Tilmen from Nintendomination has uploaded the announcement video for the new Nintendo 3DS system which is coming to Japan this year. The new system features a number of improvements including a new CPU, a C Stick and a better 3D viewing angle, amongst other things. The new Nintendo 3DS won’t be coming to North America or Europe until sometime next year.

This is the last straw for me. I won’t be supporting the company anymore until they decide to screw us with things like this.
Okay. Now you’re just being ridiculous. This is all optional and older models are not yet as obsolete as Vita or the Gameboy series. Amiibo will still be supported with that IR Amiibo scanner they showed before and the games will run fine on older models which the only difference will probably be the framerate.
They’ve already announced an exclusive N3DS game that WON’T run on older models, and there’s jack shit announced for the regular 3DS after ORAS. Not a very good sign, if you ask me.
Also, “not being as obsolete as Vita” is up there with “winning the gold medal at special olimpics” at the self-pitying department.

Not exactly. 3DS will still have Amiibo support and newer games will run just fine without “minor” enhancements.

No, because the older 3DSs can still play 3DS games, just not the exclusives to this handheld…. do some research before going on your Nintendrone period..
A liitle, yes. (I have that purdy Zelda XL one) but I love the 3DS, so I might have to upgrade to one of these. I’m liking those features alot
I expected them to announce new Hardawar next year any ways, I dont like that the C stick is NOT a cirlce pad, but oh well. But these additions are nice. But I’m hoping this is a iPad like solution to 3DS problems rather then a whole new system. Much like the DSi was a stop gap solution for the DS. Because their are lots of other improvements to be made (better camera, an actual second circle pad, analog shoulder buttons, Bluetooth, OLED screens, multitouch screens, a more advanced OS, better apps, micros USB charging or the soon to come USB-C, better video taking, a full browser, upgraded fitness tracking, rumble, and better support for other devices (like GPS over Bluetooth)
One thing they don’t note is that you can now use the microSD if you want to.

wait, so will i be able to transfer all the games on my sdhc card to the microsd? i haven’t done that before, and how much data can the microsd hold anyways?
You can do it in either two ways: Use the 3DS transfer but have Micro SD in new 3DS with same storage and the other SD from the old or transfer them all on PC and then initiate 3DS transfer.
Definitely buyin it. I was waiting for the smash bros xl announcement in the us for a upgrade but maybe I’ll wait for this instead
Im going to get it. It might be release next years holiday season. Although I already have my ambasador 3ds and I just got my Mario and Luigi 3ds xl.

It made a lot of sense when I read the first title exclusive to the new and improved 3DS was a port, X from Wii. If they keep it up, I see them making a truck load of money.. I believe only a handfull of games will require the new 3ds btw…

This new 3D view means that it works from any engle now? Or the you can move your head more? Like in the 3DS XL compared with the normal 3DS.

The GBC was fifth gen, the GB was fourth. It was an actual generational jump. Not to mention, the original GB lived for 9 long years instead of 3. The DSi didn’t have any improvement that made games unplayable on older systems, so that’s a moot point.

Normally I would troll and say something like : Lol “New Nintendo 3DS”? Nintendo will always be behind, but you have to admit. They are learning from their mistakes and trying to better improve their handheld which is awesome! The only thing that sucks is that it’s coming next year in the US.
At least this means they’re breaking their annual update schedule habit.
So this is what Nintendo has been doing. Instead of fixing the Nintendo Network or the WiiU, we get yet another 3ds version… They are milking the fuck out of the 3DS. I guess they do it because they can. Iwata is poisoning Nintendo and nobody @ Nintendo gives a shit.
That second stick looks too small. It should be the same size as the first circle pad. But it’s cool that it will add trigger buttons.
Well I believe it will mainly be for controling the camera. I think its just the right size! Doesn’t need much precision for controling the camera as much as you need for walking.
