Gamestop Is Apparently Doing A Midnight Release For Super Smash Bros

IGN reader Jorgejjvr has posted that popular US video game retailer GameStop will be holding a midnight release for the forthcoming Super Smash Bros on the Nintendo 3DS. This hasn’t been officially confirmed by the company, but hopefully we will hear something soon. Super Smash Bros on the Nintendo 3DS will launch on October 3rd, but the midnight release will take place on the 2nd.

This news is from my local gamestop, they told me that they received an email that they will have a midnight release on October 2nd for the game, get hyped!!

Thanks, Jorge

  1. No more wasting midnights I dont care about being one of the first. Last time I did was marvel vs capcom 3 thats where I drew the line.

    1. I haven’t done a midnight in a while, but for smash I will, and I like doing smash midnights not just to be one of the first, and getting my hands on the physical copy as soon as I can, but also I like being surrounded by a bunch of people there for the same reason, a bunch of smash fans, and possibly exchanging friend codes and such, or seeing actual friends at the events. Don’t blame you for not wanting to wait in line if it’s not your thing though. My friends and I usually find our way around lines though lol. Like at best buy there was an ALL DAY line for the smash event, we can an hour before it closed, the line was still long so we left and went to the mall and came back ten minutes before they closed, and we did some footwork and got up and got in the last match with a lot of luck. Did it again on the saturday of the event, except there was an incident where someone fell that diverted the attention of the employees so we went and skipped almost the whole line in the process and that was midday. :) I love being sneaky.

        1. lol my roomate went to get destiny at the midnight launch last monday or the monday before, and some homeless drunk lady stumbled in the street and he hit her. I guess that’s not really that funny, but since we’re on the topic of midnight releases, look out for drunk people stumbling! the lady survived went my friend said the police knew her well as a drunk, she got taken to the hospital but seemed ok I think in case anyone reads and wonders if she’s ok.

  2. I guess that bust the myth that nintendo doesnt allow midnight releases @ gamestop i always knew they were a bunch of liars anyways

    1. Nintendo does, it’s gamestop that tells everyone Nintendo games aren’t worth it and they should buy an xbox or playstation instead. And I’m not saying that as a fanboy, lots of gamestop employees shit on nintendo.

      1. cause they are assoles the last time i went into a gamestop their employees were so rude and oblivious i could have taken entire displays and walked out not even kidding.

        1. You should have lol. But yea some of them are definitely rude. And they get rid of the displays or give them away anyway so it’s not like they would lose money if you took it

      2. On my gamestop nintendo is the king of trade in. They would give you half the store if they can and do outside the norm offers to get nintendo games!

  3. It would make more sense to download it or get your rest and pick it up the next day. Gamestop isn’t worth losing sleep.

  5. Midnight releases at any gamestop depends on the number of pre-orders and if the manager likes the game coming out. In my city we have two gamestops, one of the managers hates nintendo so he will never have a midnight for any of their games.
