Pokemon director Junichi Masuda has said that as a gamer he would love to play a brand new version of Pokemon Snap running on the latest hardware. However, Masuda said that just adding improved current gen visuals wouldn’t make it as interesting as people imagine.
“As a player I definitely want to play a cool new version of Pokemon Snap, but at the same time I also think if it was just a remake with better graphics I don’t think it would be as interesting as a lot of people are imagining.”
“If someone was to end up developing it they’d have to come up with some cool ideas to really make it a good game for the current generation. It’s sort of like what I was saying about Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. If it was just a direct port that would be kind of neat as well, but having new elements is definitely important.”
Fuck.Yes. Do it!!!!
It’s about damn time. I’ve been saying this since they released those panoramic videos.
Well I sure do hope they’ll be thinking of neat ideas for a new one soon!
The hearts of many pokemon fans just stopped!
“at the same time I also think if it was just a remake with better graphics I don’t think it would be as interesting as a lot of people are imagining.”
That’s all they do though. All the main pokemon games just been adding more pokemon and updating graphics…… That’s all. If they can do that, they can do other spinoff the same way of updating graphics.
>Adding more Pokemon and updating graphics
What are updated battle mechanics? What is Mega Evolution? What is PSS? What is super training? What is Global Link? What is GTS?
There’s a lot more to it than just more Pokemon and graphics.
Half of those no one uses anyway lol
No, everybody uses all of them.
And you don’t even use your brain.
wow imagining it with the whole pokemon world, more than 600 ahah
The dream game the fans want is to travel to all regions battling so many trainers, masters and enemy groups as well as catching hundreds of Pokemon. That’s the day when the gaming world explodes in happiness. ^_^ Still dreaming and waiting for that day and game to come.
If one day a game like this launches, it will be the end of world because everyone will be playing pokemon xD
Yeah and some people will be like “What the hell is a PlayStation again?” I don’t say Xbox because by then, it’ll be GONE which will be another best day of gaming: The great gaming poison is no more. ^_^
What about using the gamepad as a camera, and push R to take a picture. Is that not original enough?
,,, You got a Wii U gamepad… that looks like the camera from Pokemon Snap…. SO MAKE THE FUCKING SEQUEL ALREADY!!
Or better yet, the Gamepad has a mic. Hey you Pikachu 2 confirmed! lmao
No… no thank you
I never played the first game is it any good?
Snap or Hey you Pikachu? They were both great for the time that they were released. Pokemon snap sent you through enviroments where pokemon lived. What I loved most about snap, is how much animation and personality every pokemon had. It was the best thing outside of the Anime. Hey you Pikachu was…a Pikachu simulator where you could talk to him to solve side quests, play games, and become really irritated at how the voice commands didnt always work. If I didnt have my manual, I wouldn’t have known what to say.
Pokemon Snap was NEVER interesting. I see absolutely no appeal in it. But I can understand younger kids liking it.
You know, I’m tired of this excuse from Nintendo. “We can’t think of anything to innovate xxx franchise, so we’ll just let it die, even though we know you want more of them.”
Pokemon Stadium with HD visuals, better and more animated battles/attacks, the entire Pokemon roster with local (2 vs 2 team battles?) and online multiplayer would be plenty to push well over one million in sales.
Pokemon Snap with HD visuals, Wii U gamepad integration (no brainer) additional vehicles and more things to throw to change the scenery, wouldn’t be hard to do, and would be plenty to mix it up. Imagine a plane or helicopter to fly in certain areas to get pics of some flying Pokemon, or a boat or submarine to get water Pokemon pics? You can throw items again to change the Pokemon or make them evolve like in the original, or make them appear, but mix it up. Maybe you can earn Megastones to throw at Pokemon that have Mega Evolutions that show up. Sounds cool to me.
F-Zero is a freaking racing game. You know what Racing Games need to keep them interesting? Tracks. Honestly, not much more is truly needed. Here’s some ideas. Maybe something similar to GX’s story mode, for more characters, or just simply various challenges that involve actual tracks, and other areas. Expand upon story mode. Add weapons to the races, similar to Wipeout, instead of just the spins/slams, or only have weaponized vehicles for certain challenges, or a battle/destuction derby mode(s). Make it prettier and faster and you’ve got a system mover.
Another Pokemon concept. I understand the idea they have about Pokemon being portable and letting you “live the life of a Pokemon Trainer” but that’s a really weak and pathetic excuse to NOT release a full Pokemon game on the Wii U. Go one step further. Make it an open world RPG similar to Xenoblade. Connect say the first 3 Pokemon “worlds” from red/green gold/silver diamond/pearl, allow for air and boat travel between the continents and pokemon travel over the shorter distances. Pokemon appear in the world, no random battles, so you can fight or run as you please. You can store your Pokemon in Amiibos, just start cranking out smaller, cheaper Pokemon Amiibos so you can collect them all, and make it cheaper to “buy your team” and carry them around.
I don’t know if any of these ideas are truly good or not. I’d like to think they are. Nintendo is losing so much potential money, just on Pokemon alone, disregarding other franchises that desperately need to be resurrected, like Kid Icarus was, return like F-Zero needs to, or even ones that have been huge recently. Metroid? Where are you on 3DS or Wii U already? #$%^!!!
I havent actually played the original dont hate me 😳
DEATH TO THE INFIDEL!!! kappa
I would buy it….. regardless of a remake.
Just make a colosseum 3
Would insta-buy, Pokémon Snap’s mah childhood :’)
I’m personally sick and tired of all the Pokemon, Mario and Zelda games that Nintendo constantly dishes out, while they just let other series’ die, no matter how much fans have begged and pleaded (I’m talking Earthbound, people). Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE Zelda as much as any Zelda fan. But I’ve wanted to play the Earthbound/Mother trilogy forever (and see some NEW Earthbound games on Wii U), and I never will because of that stubborn Shigesato Itoi. I’m almost too old to even care anymore. So we’re all stuck with a million Pokemon games and spinoffs instead. And games that feel watered down and rushed, like Smash Bros. on 3DS.
We’re never getting more Mother because Itoi straight up thinks the series is done.
New Mother without him would be like a Smash game without Sakurai or a Mario game without Miyamoto.
It’s hardly stubborn to think your own game series is concluded, and I think it’s fairly selfish to request more from someone who doesn’t want more.
play Earthbound on Wii U bro. Its absolutely amazing. Just started a while ago and its the only game ive been playing right now
We have had only 16 main Zelda titles In almost 30 years
8 console games, and 8 handhelds. Makes you wonder if thats intentional.
Well, to be fair, the majority off the Pokémon games have either been almost identical sequels or terrible spin-offs.
I would definitely welcome a Pokémon spin-off that looks like they actually tried to make a good game.
Hint hint Wii U?!
Make it more interesting? Take it off the rails, have a sandbox style game and have more than 30 pokemon in it. Use the gamepad as the camera and have online leaderboards where you can compare and compete with photos. Simple.
WE KNOW! That why you use that goddamn Gamepad in a way that it was meant to: as a camera with the gyroscope and stuff. And even that aside: they are REALLY underestimating how much fans would appreciate a new Pokemon Snap with ‘just’ better graphics. It’s a PHOTOGRAPHY GAME, graphics are a huge issue!
Anyway: better graphics and Gamepad camera.
DO IT DO IT DO IT DO IT!!!!
There are SO MANY ideas for a Pokémon Snap 2! Jesus, I’ve been coming up with ideas for new courses for the original since gen 2! Each console has added things that could make it a more solid experience! There are over 600 Pokémon to plop into environments from three continents and over 7 regions for God’s sake!!! I swear, that had better have been a hint they’re working on a Snap 2, because “it would have to be more than a remake” is a crap excuse.
Maybe there could be a time mode like windwaker that quickly changes from night to day in the menú and when you enter the stage It will affect the kind of pokemon you can encounter.
Pingback: Al director de Pokémon le gustaría una nueva versión de Pokémon Snap – Arcadiavg
if they release the same fucking game, no improvements – i´d still buy it a new version of pokemon snap (gyroscope, miiverse integration, online, etc) would be so huge ($) and would make good use of the gamepad, something that sadly hasnt been done a lot.
why cant nintendo see the obvious? sometimes i think theyre plain dumb
pokemon snap U should’a been out since the wii U came out, seriously
No, I hope they don’t make this game. If they do, it’s likely to be the only pokemon Wii U game we get for a long time. And honestly, I want something more than Pokemon snap. Is it too much to ask for a fully fleshed out pokemon game on the Wii U. Wtf is the big deal. Doesn’t Nintendo understand it would move a ton of consoles. Pokemon snap, while a good game, wont sell Wii U’s. As long as Pokemon fans have the main series game on their 3ds, they will hold off on snap.
“at the same time I also think if it was just a remake with better graphics I don’t think it would be as interesting as a lot of people are imagining.” Yet we have Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, which are remakes with better graphics, coming next month. If this is a real reason, he should have made Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire in 2D & saved 3D for future generations and for those generations eventual remakes. Nice contradictions we have here, Masuda.
Oh & here’s a cool fucking idea: use the god damn Gamepad as a god damn camera! It’s getting rather sad that the best uses of the Gamepad are actually coming from 3rd parties. And they’ve actually been from Ubishit which has mostly shat all over the Wii U.
Maybe Masuda & Sakurai should both just shut the hell up because they are sounding like idiots with doing one thing but saying something else that contradicts their actions. As a whole, I love Nintendo but some of their employees are indeed idiots at times. Reggie with the Xenoblade Chronicles, Last Story, & Pandora’s Tower delays to the West, whoever is in charge of adversting & marketing during the Wii U’s first & a half year doing a shitty job, Sakurai with once again keeping one of Nintendo’s biggest fucking villains a fucking clone of another character that isn’t even in the same damn franchise, & now Masuda with his excuses.
