Amazon Leaks Game Board Mode And Stage Builder For Smash Bros Wii U

It seems as though Amazon has beaten Nintendo to the punch as its revealed that Super Smash Bros Wii U will feature a Game Board mode and Stage Builder mode. The information was listed on the product description and was presumably supposed to be announced by the Kyoto based company first. Here’s the description.

“The multiplayer showdown you know and love is now on the Wii U console! Take on all comers as Mario, Mega Man, Sonic, and more gaming greats. Or tap an amiibo to the Wii U GamePad controller to train it up by battling with or against it. You can even pit your amiibo against a friends’ to see how your training methods stack up. Whether you’re creating stages on the GamePad, competing in challenges crafted by Master Hand and Crazy Hand, or outwitting your opponents in a brand new board game mode, there’s no doubt that the ultimate Smash Bros. game has arrived.”

    1. Honestly, I love the creation game stuff, and I know it wont be as crazy as say trials evolution/fusion but it needs to be better this time. Granted it wasn’t terrible but now that its in HD it could do so much more with 1080p

  1. A Wii U Smash Bros direct can’t come fast enough. I’d much rather hear about all these things from Sakurai himself than reading leaks…

    1. Its much more entertaining that way as well.

I still remember that Smash Bros. direct where he comically replaced himself with a Substitute doll.

    1. I have the newest 360 slim. I did upgrade, to 500 gig. The only problem I see is Halo is an outdated, boring IP. And yeah, most 360 / PS games need an install now. 20 gig is high, but no more than Destiny.

    2. 20GB of 500Gb is only 4%, and the hardrive can be replaced with external hard drives, so have fun going back to math class, and get your information straight next time.

        1. I’m pretty sure you’re able to use more than 362 GB on the XB1. I know you can’t use all 500GB as it needs some space for the OS.

    3. At least it has a harddrive. I’m still upset that nintendo decided not to use a hard drive for the Wii U and went with 32GB of flash memory. My phone has more storage space than that.

  2. Oh please bring back Stage Builder. ^_^ It was actually my favorite feature in Brawl despite it being lacking in tools which I hope there’s a lot more tools for launch and DLC later.

  3. A game board mode sounds corny. Unless it’s like a mini version of mario party but as smash. The mini games will have you fight in a specific time period and rules.

  4. I’m loving that Game Board mode. I always loved the little mini games after Smash Run, so it would be fun to see how that would work out.

    1. Smash has been out for only 2 weeks unless you got a japanese copy so I don’t understand when people like you say you “always loved the little mini games after Smash Run,” or things like that when you’ve only had 2 weeks, maybe a little more to play the game lol. Not hating on you, it just seems like a weird statement. That’s something I would say about a game I at least played a few months or years, but for two weeks, that seems too soon :p

      1. You’re right I should have said “I love” instead of “I always loved”. But still, I’m so hyped I really don’t care. :)

        1. lol true that. can’t wait for the U version. As for the smash run mini games, I LOVE getting the race ones when I have a bunch of speed, as well as the climb ones when you have lots of jump. I wish I could pick. I’m trying to see if 10,000 is the top, I’ve gotten so close but ran out of time around nine hundred and something.

  5. YAS, STAGE BUILDER !
Hopefully a decent feature of sharing them online with others and accessing other people’s stages will be integrated, would be lame otherwise.

  6. Yea it’s good news for sure. But I hope there is more than just these two modes. Typeing this out makes me realise that it sounds pretty selfish, but I really am hoping for something more. It’s really hard for me to get over no story mode. Ever since it was announced I lost alot of hype for this game. I play Smash 95% of the time alone, and those single player modes are the most important to me.

    1. it’s not selfish to hope for more from a franchise we all know and love. I really appreciate the work they’ve done for smash this year but, even though they gave us a ton of characters, i’ve found myself wanting more. like where is dixie kong? ridley, or mewtwo. It’s not selfish i’d just love it if we could get the perfect smash bros, every smash bros has just had something missing from making it over the top amazing! that said I’ll appreciate smash bros wii u and have a lot of fun playing it.

      1. Uneccessary and uncalled for. I have many friends but none of them are gamers. Don’t make fun of others for stupid, ridiculous reasons. I bet you don’t have many friends either.

        1. It appears you’ve fallen victim to the bait… I’m pretty sure his name alone should’ve told you he was trolling. :V

            1. I thought you made that comment because he replied to you, but it was directed at Deepsouth. I don’t usually see you standing up for other people. How nice of you. :P

                  1. Don’t say that, besides I’m not naïve just friendly. Btw you’re one to talk about checking miiverse, and that’s all I have to say. (Although I understand) :P

                    1. I check Miiverse everyday, I just don’t always make posts. So yeah. :P You haven’t made a post in 4 months. XD

                      1. Exposing me again are you? Well I’m talking about recent posts, unless you didn’t get it for whatever reason. But its ok forget it. XP

                        1. Yep. That’s my job. I was created and put on this Earth with the sole purpose of exposing you. Lol.

                              1. Nintendo Commander Quadraxis

-Subject HGJ: I am probably still 25% corrupted because of Assassin’s Creed.-

Buy the AC games at lesser pricetags than launch ones and you shall be given a title…

                                1. I would, but I don’t have another system yet. It’ll take me ages to get a PC and I think my impatience might lead me to get a PS4… Stupid Master Race is so time consuming and costly. I’m missing out on every Wii U game just to save for it. Wish time could just go by quicker.

                                    1. I know it will. It’s just so far away. Lol I’m not going to get anywhere with only $100 right now. I need $900 more. XD

                                        1. Yeah, but in the next two weeks I do believe I’ll have $200. When I get to the $400 point, it’s gonna be really tempting to pass by the PS4 without thinking of getting it… I have a Steam app on my phone though and I occasionally look through it to let myself know that I shouldn’t give in to that Playstation. Lol.

                                      1. I have visited the dark side and I’m enjoying it, but I could never fully join you Commander. I am sorry to say this, but I must humbly decline your offer.

                      2. Honestly, there should be a mode where you have to fight every character, and the farther you get, the harder it becomes. A steady increase in difficulty and progression.

                          1. Right. And the harder progresstion is essential. I think the last five or so fights should be really difficult. Throw in a boss fight at the end for good measure… Honestly, kind of similar to the Mortal Kombat 2 story line.

Or like a refined version of classic mode.

                            1. That could be fun. And man Mortal Kombat 2 was awesome. Love the original 3. Not a big fan of the 3D ones. Did enjoy 9 I think it was on PS3 though which was 2D again.

                      3. His hilarious how Sakurai took out Subspace from this game because he didn’t want people that didn’t have the game get spoiled, yet almost everything was spoiled before the 3DS release date and now Wii U release date (if this news is true)

                      4. Brawl’s was okayish.
But I honestly wasn’t too impressed with the limited parts you could use for it. :/
I don’t even think Stage Builder was used frequently by anyone to be honest.
Here’s to hoping it will be a “new” Stage Builder and not just a migration from Brawl’s version.

                        1. I screwed around and made a board or two that I hardly ever played on, and I made one board with all conveyor belts to spam sandbag to get the music cds and such, and after that never used that board again except maybe once or twice for some joke matches.

                      5. I hope this doesn’t put Nintendo off on putting together a new Direct for the game. I love their digital event announcements, they are informative and exciting. Anyway, this sounds pretty exciting; the stage builder had better be more robust and facetted than the previous effort. :)
