SEGA of America and SEGA Europe today announce a second batch of 3D remasterings exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS hand-held system, spotlighting SEGA’s arcade history. Beginning with the release of 3D After Burner II in early 2015, the second batch of titles will be released monthly and include 3D Fantasy Zone, 3D OutRun, 3D Fantasy Zone II, and 3D Thunder Blade. Not only does each title deliver a full-fledged vintage arcade experience, recreating the environment down to the mechanical sounds of the arcade machines themselves, but it also adds to the original experience with new modes, options, and original musical tracks.
“These games were completely re-built to offer a robust 3D experience that offers more modern gameplay while still keeping true to the original,” commented John Cheng, President and COO, SEGA of America. “These are the best versions of some of our most unforgettable games and playing them is just like sitting in an arcade machine”.
All games will be priced at MSRP $5.99/€4.99/£4.49 and will be available for download in the Nintendo eShop on Nintendo 3DS.

Like what? Commit home console business suicide and half ruin their Sonic series with poorly executed and thought out ideas?
If Sega was still in the console market, they would blow everyone away. Including Nintendo. Their hardware was better than Nintendo’s back then too.
If so, then how come they still lost even when Nintendo was a little late to compete them? XD History doesn’t lie. Not even Sega can beat Nintendo.
Only reason they lost is because they milked the shit out their consoles. And people going ape shit over PS2 DVDplayback. XD
No. Its because they’re ONLY big gun they got was Sonic, Mario’s biggest video game rival in its franchise life. XD But because SNES had a fantastic library of highly praised games (Super Metroid included BTW), it was too much for Sega to overcome. Them spamming different console builds is what doomed their business after PS1 was accidentally unleashed by Nintendo canceling their deal with Sony because of high royalty costs.
But Sega has a lot of exclusive franchises that they have. A lot of people have been asking for new games from their other franchises and although Mario is more popular now, back then, Sonic was considered “cooler”. He still is. Even though his games suck now. Lol. Speaking of Sonic, I have some friends that are absolute Sonic fangirls. They buy everything even the damn comics, plushies, you name it. Lol. I tried to convince them to play Super Mario 3D World and they didn’t care not even the slightest bit. I told them “you don’t need to save Princess Peach in this one” and that didn’t even work either. I am no Mario fanboy and I understand that I should just let them play Sonic, but I can’t help but be annoyed that they don’t want to at least try it. XD
I bet they didnt even try the legendary Super Mario Galaxy to understand where Sonic Lost World got its inspirations from. lol Mario is now Sonic’s teacher but sadly Sonic is failing his own lessons so many times. XD
I bet they also happen to like Sonic 2006 aka The worst Sonic game ever since Sonic R.

I love the 3d upgraded classics. I wish every retro game on the 3ds was in 3d. Really makes the old games worth a playing again.
Come to think of it, I hope NES Remix on the 3ds is actually in 3d. Now that would be a day one buy for me.

I wish there was a Sega Genesis collection game for Wii U. Similar to the one on Xbox 360 etc. I LOVE collection/compilation games. Like the Data East Arcade Classics and SNK Arcade Classics Vol. 1 for Wii. I still can’t help but wonder why that said “Vol. 1”, yet there was never a Vol. 2?
If anyone knows of any more collection games on Wii or Gamecube, let me know. Just in case I don’t have them yet.

I have all of those except the Metroid Prime Trilogy, Bit Trip Complete and Metal Slug Anthology. Now Metal Slug Anthology is at the top of my want list. Looks cool.
I have MANY other collection games.Such as the three Midway Arcade Collection games, Namco Museum and Intellivision Lives etc.
Super Mario All-Stars on the Wii was a huge disappointment for me, because of it being a direct port. Nintendo had the opportunity to enhance the graphics even further, and add more games. But they took the easy, lazy way out.
