YouTube On Wii U Receives A Visual Refresh

I assumed it was eventually coming and now it’s here, a brand new look for the Wii U YouTube application. The new YouTube app is the same one that can be found on the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4. However, the Wii U version is slightly different as it obviously uses the second screen. Be sure to check out the update which should be live on your console and give YouTube a spin.

Thanks. Joe F

      1. My issue with it was the you Had to use both the TV and game pad, literally all the time. It was also terrible to navigate due to mainly this issue, why the he’ll can’t they just make it like the actual site just wii-u friendly.

  1. I m gonna check it,i hated how the app was so badly design.I prefered the internet browser also but it cant load comments except from the top comments and some replies which sucked for me.Anyway who uses youtube on consoles anyway,i prefer doing it on my pc.

  2. Well, the videos are a bit worse than on my pc, but maybe this is something one can change in the settings. But next to this, it runs pretty smooth so far. However, I watch YouTube more on my pc while playing stuff, so I guess I will not use it on the Wii U or any other console.

  3. YouTube app pathetic I know. When I first used the browser it had more features like comment and be able to select your subscribers. For some dumb retarded reason Nintendo stripped features on the browser down. And why can’t you comment on YouTube in 2015? Is the system weak perhaps?

    1. Nintendo didn’t strip down any features on the browser. The reason you can’t comment is because you need to be logged in to Google Plus.

      1. May I add I used to comment YouTube not having to log in. You right the system is dumb and weak. Sometimes I get kicked off Netflix but Roku never kicked me off with a error message . If it was more powerful it could handle simple task like these. But Nintendo thought the world would end in 2008.

          1. It’s Nintendo’s fault for not optimizing one of the most popular online platforms in the world, or at least talking to Google about it

  4. Still browser for me. I can watch YouTube videos and look up news and Nintendo News sites and wrestling news as well. In other words, on browser, you can do multiple things, not just search videos…

  5. I never understood why the Wii U even needed an app for YouTube? All you have to do is go on the internet browser, and YouTube works flawlessly. Just like on a regular computer. Same for other internet based apps. Though I suppose it’s handy for kids who’s parents don’t allow them to use the internet browser.

  6. sasori obinna: the puppet master

internet browser for youtube has had several problems since the youtube site update since February 2014.

  7. since the browser version got real slow and hard to maneuver I end up using the app more. nice update but touch screen features appear to be missing.

  8. Ridley, the Angel of Death

This very needed update to the Youtube app came too late for a lot of us since we are so used to multitasking on the Wii U’s Internet Browser while using the Youtube site to listen to music.

Thankfully the last time I got on the Wii U’s Internet Browser, the comment section was working fine again. Sadly, there are some websites that take a good 5 minutes to fucking load up on the browser now, so Nintendo needs to fix that new problem.
