Why does the XL not have faceplates? I wanted to put a Yoshi faceplate on mine. I can’t see myself owning a regular color ever again after all the special editions I have.

  1. Can we acknowledge that “New 3DS” is a shitty name? They had a golden opportunity to call it something awesome like “Super 3DS”. Not that it matters because it’ll still sell well, but still. /sigh.

    1. Yep it’s a bad name. It’s going to confuse already confused parents and even us hardcore fans hate the name. First Wii U and now New Nintendo 3DS. I’m starting to doubt Nintendo’s decision making.

And who needs AC chargers, right?! lol

    2. It’s really incomprehensible why they would decide to give their newest console a name even more confusing than “WiiU”, after what happened. You would think Nintendo learned from their mistakes concerning bad names for their consoles.

  2. Does GameStop do a trade in value for the xl? I got the original xl. Also will they let me do a system transfer to the new one after purchase?

    1. I’ve never traded in any consoles at Gamestop, but I’ve previously heard about them not allowing system transfers in-store. Also, Gamestop’s deals usually kinda suck, so you might be better off selling your system somewhere else, like ebay.

  3. XL only it seems? If so I’m definitely 100% not upgrading. I like the smaller form factor, faceplates and the colored buttons of the NEW regular 3DS.

Wow, Nintendo definitely doesn’t want my money.

    1. Agreed. I have a normal XL & want to go back to a more compact size. & I want the regular New 3DS even more so because of all the little bells & whistles that relegate the New XL to plain shame. Too bad it’s region locked, otherwise I would’ve imported. I did for the GBA SP since the US models were sold out @ the time.

Hel, I’m also tired of how big my phones have gotten. I have long fingers, but this ‘bigger is better’ mentality needs to stop, especially w/ electronics.

Nintendo gets 2 middle fingers from me this time.

  4. The exclusion of the regular New 3DS was the bombshell. This is a step in the right direction honestly, since most players prefer the XL, but holy shit on the regular New 3DS getting excluded from NA entirely.

  5. I already ordered screen protectors and a clear case for the standard size New 3DS from Japan and now we’re not even getting it? No way am I buying an XL now!

    1. Same here. I understand that a large amount of people prefer the larger screen size, but the faceplates, Super Famicom buttons, and the more portable size of the regular New 3DS were more than enough to push many of those XL users back to the regular.

As it stands, I’m not getting the New 3DS. Regular size or no deal. :\

  6. Well I was originally going to give Nintendo some $ for a regular new 3ds because I missed having a regular sized one,WHY ARE YOU ONLY RELEASING THE XL? YOU FOOLS!

  7. Was considering upgrading to a new 3DS xl, but after hearing that it won’t include an AC Adapter (I saw the Nintendo Direct. Don’t tell me otherwise) plus that it’s still region locked, Nintendo lost a sale. That simple. And I’m not forking out $$ for another AC adapter.

If you feel this way about the AC Adapter, do NOT buy or preorder the New 3DS XL.

  8. Except no standard new 3DS, no AC charger for the new XL and being the same price as the old without essentials?

Nope. I’m sorry but you won’t be seeing my money dor this one Nintendo. You fucking dropped the ball big time.

I would have gladly gone for the regular New 3DS for the multicolor XABY buttons & faceplates. But I won’t be too bothered by the lack of the regular one if I can still get a hold of the Majora’s Mask New 3DS. As for the lack of the charger/adaptor, what the hell, Nintendo!? That may fly in Japan but it doesn’t over here! *facepalm*
