Several readers have contacted me to say that they’re rather annoyed as they’ve just had confirmation that their Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask themed New Nintendo 3DS consoles have been canceled at the last-minute. The company says that they took too many pre-orders and are unable to fulfill demand. A sad situation for some Nintendo fans hoping to have the special console tomorrow.

Surely they should plan for such situations instead of leaving willing customers without a console and going elsewhere…

That sucks! I’m glad I just got the basic red one. That would be a huge disappointment. Especially the day before it is released.

Mine has not been cancelled. I’m assuming because I was most likely among the first to order one and also because I didn’t order multiple. If this is selling for $350 plus on craigslist I might be tempted to sell, but only if it’s that high. I am too psyched to experience the 3D the way it was intended for all the games I already have.
Mines is on the way, it says the order should be here by tomorrow so I’m looking forward to it :)

First they cancelled my Destiny Limited edition… Then they cancelled my Metaknight Amiibo… I’m just glad I didn’t pre-order my New 3Ds from them as well. My 3Ds is paid and ready to be picked up tomorrow. Best Buy is one of my least favorite stores to buy stuff from anyway.

Guys, Best Buy’s on the ass end of the “supply communication” line. This is nothing more than Big N once again screwing Best Buy, and other retailers (and US in the process). If anyone needs to be held accountable, it’s Nintendo. They know what they’re doing to us. And they don’t really care since they know someone will simply buy it. Instead of simply ripping on the scapegoat, go after the head. They know to never make enough, and to always underestimate consumer demand. Too much ‘safe tactics’ is bad.
Also, the Duraflexi protectors for the 3DS2 XL are likely delayed till March.(Going by Amazon’s data) Just import them if you need those badly enough.
Well… new members to welcome to the club. I feel for everyone who this happened to. I really do. I know the feeling. Now… I’d personally suggest taking your business elsewhere if this happened to you. Don’t let “Best” Buy screw you over again.
Preordered at BB within minutes of the option, then grabbed another another preorder from Fry’s to avoid sales tax. Canceled at BB and sure enough Fry’s chopped mine as well. Would have been nice… Have a feeling BB would have canceled too
I got a confirmation email saying mine was ready for pickup. Drove to the store about an hour after they opened and was told they weren’t going to get any and they would refund my money. I told them it was unacceptable and they need to find my preorder. 20 minutes later they said it was already on its way via UPS. I think they are trying to get people to candle their orders so the employees can sell them online. Another shady business practice by bestbuy
