Eiji Aonuma has expressed interest in Ubisoft’s Far Cry series. In an interview with Game Informer, the Legend of Zelda producer said that Far Cry 4 is one of the non-Nintendo games he currently plays. Aonuma also talked about how he spends his time outside of work and playing video games. He said he likes playing the bongos, which were his inspiration for giving a similar instrument to the Goron in The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask.
“I don’t play a lot of video games outside of work because for me video games are work,” Aonuma said. “There are a lot of things I choose to do with my free time besides play games. But whenever I do hear about something interesting – if there is a new game that has a particularly interesting hook – that is something I will want to spend some time playing. But when it comes to genre, I definitely don’t specify one particular genre that I’m interested in. I’ll absolutely play anything in regards to genre.
“As for games I’ve been interested in lately that were made by people outside of Nintendo, I guess one that stands out is Far Cry 4. I’ve long been interested in the Far Cry series and just had the chance to start playing this one, but I haven’t really seen all of the game yet so I’m just beginning to get into it.”

I don’t think anyone here thinks Far Cry 4 is a bad game. I just personally criticized it because I think it is a lazy sequel. It’s too much like Far Cry 3. They re-use the same character models, animations, and textures. Yea, theres some new stuff in the game, but most of it is recycled from Far Cry 3. That was my major complaint about the game. While every other Far Cry game in the series took four years to develop, (1 – 3) Far Cry 4 took less than two years. Ubisoft has become lazy and uninspired. It’s refreshing to know that Aonuma doesn’t participate in the petty console wars. The same could not be said for the folks over at Ubisoft.

They all have their problems and awesome things. Wii U has a lot of great exclusives, PS4 has a good amount of great games (whether multiplat. or not) and has the most power of the three main consoles, and the XBox One has some good exclusives and great games in general, as well as a nice amount of power. If you really looked at it from a specs and availability standpoint, it would seem like PC would trump everything else, but exclusives usually define, in my opinion, what makes each console great. They all have some great exclusives, albeit the Wii U has the most BECAUSE third parties aren’t supporting it and Nintendo needs to make sure that games are released at an okay pace. Wii U has almost all the Nintendo IP’s; PS4 has LBP3, Uncharted 4, and more; XBox One has KI, Sunset Overdrive, and more. I don’t like to rate consoles by multiplats to be honest… (They are almost always better on PC unless the developers focused on a console version, with the PC version as an afterthought.) In the end, all the consoles should be treated equal, and only the GAMES should be critiqued, whether good or bad. Rating consoles themselves really doesn’t make sense when you think of it… What good is a console without great games? (Which each system is currently doing, having great games)

Ubisoft actually does a nice job with the Far Cry series. They put more effort into the games than most of their other franchises, including their industry proclaimed flagship title, Assassin’s Creed.
I still haven’t started to play my personal copy of Far Cry 4. Played some of the demos at different events last year, E3, PSX, etc. but not at home. *Needs more time*

Same here, i received and bought a lot of PS3 games holiday season and haven’t had much time to play through them all. Shame since i really tried to get all the fairly recent releases like Dragon Age Inquisition, Borderlands the Pre Sequel, South Park The Stick of Truth, The Wolf Among Us (finished), etc. Honestly i spend more time with the Saints Row games than anything else XD

Why can’t you understand the idea of ones preference? Some people enjoy different things, whether or not the companies business strategies upset you is considered secondary when playing the game itself. Of course that depends; DLC, technical issues and such. However there are some pretty good third-party games out there and Far Cry 4, even though its made by Ubisoft, looks pretty good in my opinion. I especially enjoyed Rayman Legends.

Sure Far Cry was a good game, but then came the transition to ubisoft montreal and dunia engine and we had the abortion called Far Cry 2.
Far Cry 3 was little better, as far as the gameplay went, but it got boring and repetitive pretty fast.
