We already knew that Xenoblade Chronicles X would feature additional DLC quests, but it turns out that some of these you will have to pay for. It’s not all entirely clear as the news was revealed via the Xenoblade Chronicles X download card which has made an appearance in Japan. Whether those of us in the west will have to pay for them, or if they will be included with the game, is something that hasn’t yet been disclosed yet.

Well… not super excited about that. Hopefully they don’t add anything to the game itself and are just optional “filler” quests and not anything exclusive or important.
I didn’t buy the Fire Emblem: Awakening DLC and I don’t plan on buying anymore “planned” DLC. It’s bogus.
So is Fire Emblem basically Advance Wars? But you know, its own different game. I like DLC, but it’s gotta be worth it.
I have never played Advanced Wars, so I can’t say for sure, but both are similar in appearance where one group of soldiers fight against another group on a checkered map. Each player can move a certain amount of squares to face off against their opponents.
What about the new Fire Emblem? Will you buy the “planned” DLC (or other game if in Japan)? Don’t know yet, let me answer that for ya, yeah, you will, everybody will and then so your not left out you’ll buy it cuz everybody’s gonna be talking about it right? And that just makes perfect sense.
But the DLC for the new Fire Emblem is a WHOLE OTHER GAME. So yeah, I will buy it when it comes with worthwhile content like that. If the new Fire Emblem has cheap DLC that adds a couple missions but you have to pay 5 bucks, then no, I won’t be buying that.
I’m not “paying” for individual missions. I don’t do the “Free-to-Play” format. I just don’t and I never will.

Even though IS is putting in dlc that isn’t that expensive and has a lot of content, they’re still (in my opinion) are cocky with the amount of money they got from awakening’s dlc. This is what probably happened in IS:

Hey guys, you know how a lotta people refused to buy awakening’s dlc ’cause it was just some minor stuff? I got a fantastic idea! Let’s cut off over half the content in fire emblem if, you know, the big stuff, and then gamers will practically be hating us all over on the internet while giving their money!
I imagine this DLC will be like Awakening’s. Extra stuff that can add more to the game experience, but has no real effect on the story.
Hopefully, I didn’t buy that stuff and I didn’t feel like I missed out on anything.

I think my main issue with what you said was that even if the game itself has a huge amount of gameplay (let’s say it’s similar to Xenoblade on the Wii, so at least 60-80 hours), that if the optional DLC is too expensive, you would boycott the game. Why not simply just not buy the DLC?

Mario Kart was a good example of the contents price being justified, so something similar to that would work.
First pack could be a set of quests that would let you build Metroid themed armor, alongside maybe some other specially themed monsters to fight.
We’ve seen how big some of the monsters in this game can get, so imagine a Kraid cameo fight in the lava zone!^_-

No but with how shitty Nintendo’s online infrastructure is, way to many people would throw fits about it. They’ll have to start charging eventually though, maybe not this gen, maybe not the next, but they will eventually have to. Keeping servers up and running, and secure, takes a lot of money, and that money has to come from somewhere.
Money helped Sony’s and Microsoft’s servers last Christmas.

Bringing up that Christmas incident in defense for Nintendo not charging for online is really silly. Nintendo easily could be victim to something like that too, they’ve just been lucky it hasn’t happened yet. And seeing how inexperienced they seem to be with online services, I don’t even want to know how long it would take Nintendo to recover from such an attack. But I sincerely hope they will never have to suffer from anything like that; nobody deserved it, no matter if it’s Nintendo, Sony or Microsoft.

Actually it did, if I remember correctly they manage to recover from the DDoS attacks even quicker than before. MS recovered from the attack within a couple hours actually. DDoS attacks are impossible to predict because all they do is drown you in virtual traffic. I hope Ninty never gets attacked because holy crap will it be a shitstorm.
Pray to the heavens that this shift to the modern tech era (paid DLC, Mobile apps, and MT games) doesn’t piss off these hackers that currently like Ninty for not being like Sony or MS.

1 very important thing is that dlc as not been annouced this was complete clickbait since nowhere on that tweet does its say dlc and the only thing that the tweet shows is a card also the game is already finished and is releasing in japan in 26 days and nothing as been said about dlc and even if they announce dlc tomorrow there is no way to tell if this was made after they finished the game. Also Nintendo is turning in to Ubisoft? How?
Well it´s all up to the quality of the DLCs.
If they are comparable with Hyrule Warriors DLC then no harm done and I´m all over them. If they are heading for the EA/UBI/REST OF THE DEV direction where you get about 1-2 hours of usually really boring gameplay with 5-10 euros. Or few costumes/weapons, then no thank you sire called “trying to print money”.
We will see when the times comes..

I honestly can’t find anything about DLC in XCX, I have been out in the dark the last couple of days so maybe it got announced then and I just missed it. Still, I haven’t seen anything on DLC anything from the few searches I’ve done.
There hasn’t been any news for XCX expect for the Mech direct on friday and this, the news about an download card with XCX art on it that to me looks like it’s either a eshop card or a download code for the game.
That’s what I was thinking. Seems like all the major sites jumped the gun though.
As long as it’s not day one, I’ll be happy.
I got a feeling the DLC will be extra end game content, like bosses. I hope this is the case, cause that would be sweet.

The Witcher 3’s DLC will all be free. That’s interesting seeing how I’m more excited for this game. I’m sure it will be worth it though.
It depends on the DLC’s content. If it’s filler I’m all for it. If it’s part of the game then I am not all for it. If it provides content outside of the franchise similar to Mario Kart 8’s I’m ALL for it!
I always despise extra quests because a lot of times they’re not worth what you pay. I only get that kind of stuff if it adds a substantial amount to the game. I’ll wait and see what we get and what the price is.

If there will be DLC, if they don’t have their own plotlines to follow, like how Fire Emblem Awakening’s DLC had plotlines, I won’t really bother with them. After Xenoblade Chronicles with it’s ton of side quests making me way overleveled for story boss fights & new locations, I won’t bother with these DLC side quests if they do nothing but give me tons of exp. I’d rather get a ton of money from side quests than experience.
