The Fire Emblem If Full Famitsu Interview Has Been Translated

Japanese gaming publication Famitsu has uploaded the full Fire Emblem: If interview onto their website and thankfully it has now been translated. There’s a number of key points in the interview including that weapons such as Javelins and other long-range weapons will no longer be able to double attack. It has also been revealed that classes chosen largely depend on which campaign you choose.

Interestingly, Javelins and similar ranged weapons (such as Hand Axes, most likely, and not naturally ranged weapons like Tomes or Hidden Weapons) can no longer double attack

It seems that the classes available largely depend on the campaign chosen. So in Nohr, you will typically see more characters in familiar classes, like Cavaliers. While in Hoshido, most of the characters are in Japanese-themed classes, like Samurais.

But unlike the female-only Pegasus Knights of yore, these Pegasus Warriors can be male or female. After promoting, they can wield Bows in addition to Lances.

While Nohr is Western-themed, it also carries a dark atmosphere; its castle even stands in the middle of a giant hole in the ground. So there’s a feeling it’s not your typical Western fantasy nation.

  1. Male Pegasus Warriors and they can use bows…?

    This sounds a little wrong…

I still want the game, though.

  2. Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
I can’t rekt people with mages anymore? They have been nerfed like hell lmao is Greninja in this game?
Well back to murdering people with Swordmasters-Joshua-Lon’qu

  3. And thus archers are now even more useless than ever thanks to this nerf. Not like I found this class appealing anyways.

    1. Archers can still double attack, and archers where never useless, if you have ever played Fire emblem 4 or Fire emblem 5 Bow knights are garbage compared to Archers

      1. In 4, Midir and Lester are better than Jamke, Briggid, and Faval since they can actually keep up with the rest of your team, which is filled with other mounted units. The Archers/Snipers fall behind quickly. The Archers/Snipers do however have better stats, which is something.

In 5, I have no idea how you can say that Archers are better than Bow Knights. Tanya and Ronan are both awful, whereas Selphina can at least use the Brave Bow at base.

        1. In number 5 Selphina is good, but Tanya is in no way bad she is very useful, and in the number 4 Midir has more move than Jamke and better skill and def so yes he is better than Jamke, but Briggid and Faval have better growths an exclusive bow. Lester is alright but he is very pairing dependent, I like having a pairing that benefits Lana, Dew/Azel/Claude. though Claude is less the case unless i wanna pair Sylvia with Azel.
Indeed Bow knights are not bad but neither are archers. in the end it’s all player preference.
