Smash Bros Wii U Was Apparently Going To Include A YouTube Upload Feature From Launch

It appears that Super Smash Bros. for Wii U contains some hidden code that suggests the game was going to include a YouTube upload feature from launch. Although Nintendo is yet to announce the feature for the console version of the fighting game, it may eventually become activated through a future update. A feature of the same nature is included in Mario Kart 8, which allows players with Google accounts to upload their reels directly to their YouTube channels.

    1. Am smash pro, bro get it? I wanz 2 upload video an´ i beat another player not cpu, then upload that youtube. 4 those it useful, technologically feature.

  1. Oh gods I hope so!! I’ve already lost so many replay videos to the later updates I’ve gotten so frustrated…I also loathe having to hold my cellphone for 6-8 minutes just to take a video in potato quality of a match I’ve had :/

I’ve always hoped for this feature to be in Smash, I was very upset when it wasn’t included like it did for MK8.

  2. I’ll be able to make montages without having a capture card. This could be quite useful. Hopefully its on its way.

    1. Nintendo Tetrarch Quadramus-NX

      >>>Who cares, soon though: -But where is that damn voice chat?!- and so on>>>

          >>>I was being sarcastic and immitating the crybabies on this site and beyond, I don’t care one way or the other because I don’t ever use voice chat>>>

    2. Oh, I don’t know… for people who want to upload their videos to youtube, to perhaps show to others outside of the game? Maybe post it to Facebook, Twitter, etc afterward?

Very simple answer. You should have thought about it for more than 3 seconds.

      1. I don’t do stuff like that. Even if I were to upload a video to YouTube, I’d edit the video first. I wouldn’t just upload a direct video as I’m playing.

  3. In other news:
Capcom announces Monster Hunter X for the 3ds and it will use MH4 engine.
We should expect it to be shown on the next Nintendo Direct in japan.

  4. Yeah, but it takes like forever for MK8 to upload a 30 second or 60 second 720p video… I mean, the 30 second videos are between 10-15 mb, while the 60 second videos are between 20-25 mb… Those uploads shouldn’t take more than a few seconds realistically… The rendering the video for a minute is reasonable. The upload times are not.

    1. I would appreciate the rendering of a video from a replay and then uploading it to YouTube as much as the next guy…. But it would still be much faster to just record it from a capture card (in 1080p 60fps rather than 720p 30fps) and upload it indirectly instead.

  5. Sakurai probably canceled it because it spoils the experience for someone who does not have the game.

  6. Ridley 4 Smash DLC!

It’s not like the one on Mario Kart 8 is exactly great. Truthfully, it sucks because you have to wait 10-20 minutes for it to finish & you’re stuck just watching a 30 second or 60 second video over & over til it’s finished. With that in mind, I can see why Sakurai didn’t want to add the same thing to Smash 4.
