Video: Splatoon Recreated In Minecraft

Minecraft user SethBling has created his own rendition of Splatoon‘s main online mode, Turf War, in the immensely-popular sandbox game by Mojang. Akin to how the mode is played in the real game, the Minecraft version of Turf War allows players to compete in four-on-four teams to try to cover as much territory as possible in their team’s ink. You can even turn into a squid and swim through your own team’s ink and glide up and down walls. You can check out SethBling’s recreation in the video below:

  1. This could arguably be better since you can create your own maps! I’ll have to check this out.

    1. I mean, it’s really cool that he did all of that, but arguably better? No way. I mean, they lack a lot of guns, sub weapons, special weapons. Not to mention the entire idea that you can dress up your inkling and give them stats (or just to make them look trendy). There’s no music, and the music in Splatoon is balls-to-the-wall amazing, not to mention the atmosphere of each level and how much style and depth is present within the game itself. At this point, I could go on why the real thing is better.

But anyway, I know you probably didn’t MEAN that it was arguably better, this is a REALLY cool take on Splatoon, and custom maps is a neat idea and I can’t wait to see where he takes this.

      1. Yeah idk this doesn’t really compare to the game….this is awesome but I don’t think its “arguably better” than splatoon

    2. It could only be arguably better if the person arguing it’s better has no understanding of quality gaming. It’s a cool idea well executed in Minecraft. However it is of course nowhere near as good as the actual game due to many things, including the limitations of Minecraft itself. It’s novelty fun, rather than anything that actually compares to the real thing.

      1. Uhhh it definitely compares to the real thing. It is easily recognizable as Splatoon you twat. And in some ways it is better due to the limitations of the WiiU version. Voicechat, don’t have to leave the “lobby to change weapons”, way freaking better internet connectivity, unlimited possibilities for maps and weapons and such.

I think what is really important here is that a guy WHO DOESN’T EVEN OWN SPLATOON was able to recreate the game IN A MATTER OF WEEKS. Hmm… I guess that speaks to how simple and bis Nintendo’s Splatoon is under the hood. ;)

  2. Somebody has a lot of time on their hands. I personally get bored of playing with squares. Everything is a cube, enemies, trees, grass, etc.etc. It gets really boring really fast…

    1. If it gets boring it is because A) you have no friends to play with, B) you don’t play in any custom worlds or mods and C) you don’t have any creativity. C is pretty funny coming from a Nintendo fan. Also, don’t Nintendo fans always say that graphics don’t matter, it is about the gameplay? LOLOLOL

  3. it has less weapon options, no sub-weapons, and no special-weapons. it is limited to only one map unless someone takes the time to recreate a second one, and like they mentioned, its super hard. you could make an inkling skin but other than that there is no way to determine whose team youre on.

uggh. i guess i just feel like minecraft recreations need to stop

  4. Jtz from Gad tribe

Why does my battle mode keep choosing the blackbelly skatepark all the time? Nintendo should have thought stage choose better when the game was in R&D. But they are slow and stupid when creating a game or platform at the start.
