Sonic Races To Nintendo 3DS In Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice (Trailer)

Nintendo of Europe and SEGA of Europe have today confirmed that they have entered into a new distribution agreement for the forthcoming Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice scheduled to release exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems across Europe this Winter. Under the terms of the agreement Nintendo of Europe will be responsible for the sales, marketing and distribution of the game throughout European territories, with SEGA of Europe remaining as publisher.

The iconic ‘blue blur,’ Sonic the Hedgehog, will be racing once again in Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice as the game  introduces  more adventure, speed, exploration, and an all-new fire and ice gameplay element that will help propel the action. The game will also feature the triumphant return of Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy and Sticks.

Developed by Sanzaru Games Inc., Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice is a single player game with collaborative gameplay components that shares key characters, events, and lore of theSonic Boom universe. Players will see Sonic and his friends in familiar settings as they embark on a brand new adventure to battle Dr. Eggman as well as an all-new super villain, D-Fekt. The team’s adventures will bring them to locations both familiar and new as they explore, race and protect their world.

To create an entirely new experience, Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice will infuse fire and ice elements throughout gameplay, enabling new abilities to play out in special character moves and interactions with environments. The new title also delivers gameplay that enables players to run through the game at top speed, or take their time with deeper exploration and puzzle play.

New to the title is the introduction of Bot Racing, a supplemental game tied to the single player story with multiplayer gameplay. The new Bot Racing feature is an extension ofSonic Boom: Fire & Ice that is purely about racing and speed, where a user will unlock character themed Bots to challenge friends on fast courses or tracks.

Sonic the Hedgehog first appeared as a videogame character in June 1991, and instantly became an icon for a generation of gamers. Defined by his super-fast speed and cool attitude, in the years since he first raced on to videogame consoles, Sonic has become a true global phenomenon with over 140 million videogames sold or downloaded worldwide across consoles, PC’s, mobile phones and tablets. SEGA’s iconic blue blur has also gone on to enjoy incredible success in many licensed areas, such as toys, apparel, comics and animation.

Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems will be available across  Europe this Winter.

    1. Yeah! Visit the store and find a special shiny egg. Hatch it and give it better stats than all your other ones. Lol. Good times…

      1. Oh yeah, I really enjoyed the racing of Chao too. The feeding of different fruits to get different looks was a great way to do that. Man, I miss the GameCube so much I might buy one again.

  1. I just wish a good sonic adventure game would come out. Just because I love the character I always hope for a good game and I am sadly disappointed everytime lol

  2. For fuck’s sake, just let the IP rest for a while. There’s no way an actually good game can be made in the middle of this identity crisis Sonic is having.

  3. Nintendo, and this Generations leading Console are still getting games. Sega knows the staying power of the Kyoto company created in 1889. By Christmas this game will have gotten all the advertising needed. plus it is being made by a veteran. Nintendo’s got games. The 3DS Sonic Boom was good. The WiiU one lol!

  4. So the game that almost destroyed Sonic and Sega, they’re giving that another go. Ok. Don’t expect much, guys.

      1. The 3DS version was just ok. It did some things right but others pretty badly. But other than that, I’d really rather just have another Rush game. Or Colors 2. You know, a.. real Sonic game.

        1. If Sonic Adventure 3 were to come out and reintroduced old characters like Fang or Mighty and made them relevant again, that’d be great.

  5. Great move, with the Animated series doing great, it is a revival of epic wonder, like red steel 2.

  6. Once again, this is a game that could have been announced at E3. Nintendo must have a lot of great content to announce, that they felt this game could be mentioned a week ahead of E3….

    1. Nintendo is smart, they are not mentioning Sonic Boom with their IPs. They know that the salt and pepper of Sonic Boom has to settle first with the success of the animated show helping that.

  7. I hope for your little sake SEGA, to get the official Sonic Team working instead of screwing the only IP that save you with poor 3rd-parties ! RoL have proved us enough about your fall !!!

  8. Does Sega even know what they’re doing wrong? Even if this new sonic game is good people will associate it with the other sonic boom games!

    1. Nintendo Tetrarch Quadramus-NX

      >>>These imebeciles still haven’t learned about their product management>>>

  9. A new Sonic Boom game? Ahahahahahahaha…….. no!

I love the show and comics, but both games were as mediocre as it gets.

  10. Guess it makes sense.

Shattered Crystal was actually a decent game, so good for Sanzaru games to get another go.

  11. They couldn’t just let this Mini Series remain as a bad memorable could they? Well, I guess it’s wrong to judge a book my it’s cover, so let’s see how this turns out…

  12. The entire concept of Sonic Boom was doomed the moment they said it would cater to western tastes.

We worship the kardashian family like the second coming of christ,
We treat a “performer” who goes to an awards ceremony half naked and sticking her tongue out, making as many sexual movements as possible like frank sinatra,
A youtube commentator who does it “to be funny” is more respected than a commentator who genuinely loves his fans and raises $50000 for charity every month.

    Western tastes are terrible.
You want a good gameplay concept? Sonic, shadow and blaze.
Act 1: 2D, traditional sonic rush
Act 2: A refined sonic lost world 3ds gameplay, more dreamcast style.
    Act 3: A mixture.

Plot? Eggman fuses the ARK with the Death Egg, But a new villain causes it to plunge to earth, forcing sonic and co to use chaos control to keep warping it away with a fake emerald that wont last for long.
Majora’s mask rehash? Well, that was a rehash of groundhog day, and the first sonic boom was a rehash of ratchet and clank.

  13. Well, I tried the demo for Shattered Crystal and I think it was fairly decent, many of the annoyances from Rise of Lyric were absent, no doubt as consequence of the limited capabilities of the hardware (Oh, the irony), and while the game felt a bit slow and easy it also felt solid and quite involved for a series that has basically been a “Boost to win” kind of thing for years now (With the obvious exception of Lost World).
    They better not fuck up.

This game is being made by someone new (I believe) and it actually looks pretty decent from the trailer. Could end up being a nice game. Too bad it has the “Sonic Boom” title stuck to it.

The Sonic Boom game franchise has been severely tarnished.
